I'm so sad to see so many Grandiflorums bombed. But I'm not just sad, I'm surprised to see Angelica busted on. First, Grandiflorums really are made with natural oils, and as such they stew, brew, and get better and better with time. Also, they go on kind of wierd, and you can have no real notion of them till you let them dry down. Angelica is, I would have thought, one of the more innocuous, lovely of fragrances. It has a gestalt of weeds in a meadow - a cloud of fluffy white flowers in a beautiful, untouched state park. There is a dry, aromatic, orange-flowery note, very pretty and reminiscent of 4711. There is a rich, sweet yet dry, bourbon-y overlay when wet that will be a basenote throughout. I find this bourbon-y sweet/bitter/dry note in all the Grandiflorums and have concluded it's part of natural perfumery process. Third, there's a soft leaf note, green but almost powdery in it's softness and delicacy.

This is a lovely fragrance and the worst thing I can say about it is that it has not lasting power.

Hmmm. I get no incense or smoke from this. Oakmoss, yes - in abundance. Unfortunately this turned medicinal on me within minutes, and dried down to something just shy of urine - and, okay, a teensy hint of incense, but even the nicest incense is going to ruined by urine, right? - before blessedly disappearing altogether. Nope.

Love it! Smokey, incense-y, that beautiful patchouli note of dried leaves after the rain! It all comes together in a fragrance that is difficult to describe or pin down. Glad to have taken the leap of faith based on its fragrance notes.

I like it. Smells like autumn -- crumpled leaves crunching under your feet, oakmoss in the woods. It's October in a bottle. There are absolutely no floral or fruit notes that come out in this at all so stay away if you need flowers, fruits or sweetness in your scents. There are floral notes listed as being in here, but you'd never know it. This reminds me of DSH Firefly without the smoked applewood note or a lesser quality Mitsouko.
