I have fairly sensitive skin. I had been pretty faithful to Shiseido Perfect Milk for years but simply wanted to change up my skin care regimen. I also wanted a product that I could buy in town and not overseas (I hate waiting lol). I saw this and remembered how my derm gave it to me when I first got eczema. I looked at the ingredient list and loved how it was so short. I saw reviews which were great. Needless to say, two bottles later, I really love this product! It takes off all my makeup and does not leave my skin tight, dry or uncomfortable. It foams nicely and allows me to glide my hands easily over my face to gently remove my makeup. (I double cleanse at night unless I haven't been wearing makeup. I do this with all cleansers. Just a habit.)
And yes this is the same as Clean & Clear foaming cleanser for sensitive skin except that the latter contains a powdery fragrance but nonetheless cleanses the same.

YES. Thank you Jesus for allowing me to finally get something that is helping me heal. Have had such a terrible bout of severe cheek acne (hormonal... due to Loestrin... grr) and everything that I used just exacerbated and dried out my skin even more... thats never good. This is gentle enough, lathers so well, and feels clean without having that tight feeling. I'm happy and will be repurchasing. I'd recommend a very light cleanser to dry and acne prone skin types like mine.
Also, I do not use this cleanser to take my makeup off. I take it off before I cleanse.

This is a good mainstay facial cleanser for me. It's good for my sensitive skin. It doesn't make me breakout. Good standby. I don't use it religiously but I do keep coming back to it. You can usually find it pretty cheap on sale anywhere like Walmart, Target, drugstores, whatever. It's not a miracle worker or anything but I would say in terms of sensitive skin cleansers this beats Cetaphil. It doesn't have a gross texture and it does lather without stripping my skin and I don't notice a fragrance. Very mild.

I really like this cleanser. It was one of the recommended cleansers from my dermatologist to use with a retenoid. It works great and is a bit drying but nothing that a good moisturizer cannot take care of! Highly recommended.

While I like this cleanser a lot, I prefer Acne.org's cleanser over this one. However, I always keep a bottle of this stuff around because it is a good, reliable product at an affordable price point. I use it when I travel or run out of my usual cleanser.
There are three reasons why this isn't my number one choice.
First, SLS is the main foaming agent here. The SLS in this cleanser leaves my face feeling a bit tight after I cleanse. Other chemically similar foaming agents don't do this to me. It's not huge deal since I always moisturize after cleansing but I could do without that squeaky clean feeling.
Second, this cleanser is fragranced. I don't have a special sensitivity to fragrance but my skin is sensitive in general. Sometimes fragrance can contribute to overall sensitivity issues.
Finally, the Acne.org cleanser is a comparable product in my humble opinion but the Acne.org cleanser is even more cost effective in terms of dollars per ounce IF you purchase the largest bottle size and a few bottles at a time to offset the cost of shipping. Maybe this seems excessive but I consider the cost per ounce when I consider the value of any given product.
Still, this is a solid product. If you like this, you might also like the Clean and Clear sensitive cleanser if for some reason this is out of stock at your drugstore. It's very similar.

Amazing. It removes my makeup really well which surprised me since most facial washes don't. And for the price, it's awesome!! I find it to be gentle on my skin as well. No crazy fragrances, and I follow up with a moisturizer. I mainly use it at night, and I use proactiv during the day if I even use anything. So happy I decided to try it! Oh and for reference I have combination skin.

WARNING: Read ingredients and know what ingredients are bad for you before you buy a product.
Please do not listen to the PR and reviews for this facial wash. I wanted to believe it all too because my face was breaking out badly. This cleanser has not helped in the past month and my skin felt very irritated and again I was left with acne, and asking why?? I finally decided to research for myself and found an article "Ten Ingredients to Avoid in Your Face Products" by the website Good.is.
Purpose cleanser had two of these ten in their ingredients: "Sodium Laureth Sulfate" and "Fragrance." SLS strips you of your natural oils and "Fragrance" has a whole mess of hormone disruptors. There are effective, natural ways to cure your acne. Please do not give up hope.

I use this cleanser exclusively on my eyelids. Most of my face tends to be quite dry, so I use Albolene to cleanse and remove makeup, and follow with Purpose to cleanse my eyelids before applying Latisse and eyelash conditioner. It does a great job of removing the excess oil without burning the eyes. The bar version of Purpose is NOT the same, I've tried it when I couldn't locate the liquid version and it burns the eyes like crazy.

I am glad to hear this product is working so well for people. I have no idea how long this product has been on the market so let's just say that I have been using purpose for 25 years!!! I always saw this product as a best kept secret. Shhhhh....!!!!
I began using it for acne at 18 or 20 years of age and as soon as I began using it I felt a difference on my skin and in time saw a change for the better with a acne free face giving me much confidence as a man in this shallow world. When I shower my body with it women notice that I have no smell. Sort of described as a naturally clean smell mixed with the natural smell of my body has been a positive with the ladies for a number of years. Hope to be around to use it for 25 more years. Excellent product for the price you pay.

My HG cleanser! before i used exfoliating sponges I used this on its own and it managed to remove most of my revlon colorstay foundation compared to that flimsy Neutrogena cleanser. It cleans effectively without overdrying or irritating my skin. The scent is also very mild, not harsh at all. I recomend this to everyone I love it

I have pretty sensitive skin, and have searched high and low for a product that I won't react to, AND be able to remove all my makeup in one go.
Unfortunately, Purpose Cleanser is not sold in Canada, so the first time I purchased it, I only bought one bottle and was ultra happy with the results!
PROS:
- Price! It is very affordable, I believe only around $6 at the drug stores
- It is gentle - no reactions whatsoever
- Yes, it does remove all of my makeup and cleanses the skin! It doesn't leave a film like other cleansers do, it doesn't feel unclean after I have rinsed, and it really does remove all my makeup (namely eyeliner), where some other cleansers I have tried claim they do, I also end up have to wash twice due to my waterproof eyeliners
CONS:
- None, really...I guess in comparison with some other new age products, it doesn't have that "fresh" feeling, yet it's due to the minimal ingredients
I highly recommend this product for those in search of a gentle product that will remove their makeup!

I have oily acne prone skin; while this cleanser does not break me out, I do not see it helping with my acne issues either.
I prefer this for the summer time and cetaphil or purity made simple in the winter because this does dry my face a bit more than those other two.
It lathers very well and has a mild scent. Maybe my eyes are sensitive because it says that it isnt supposed to sting your eyes but if I get it into my eyes it certainly does sting.
I do not find that it is sufficient to take off all my makeup, so I always use TTDO balm beforehand or a remover wipe if I am wearing makeup.
It is a nice inexpensive alternative to use that I switch out with my other cleansers in the spring/summer.

I am so glad I found this product! My usual cleanser is clinique facial soap mild. I bought this product because it claims not to contain any actual soap just like the clinique. It works so much better than clinique. Does a better job of cleansing my skin and does not dry out my skin, which the clinique did. It has the same liquid gel consistency and same amount of product at a much better price. I've been using it for a month and my skin looks great. I have senstive skin and this does not irritate. My break outs are becoming less and less frequent because my face isnt dried out with this.

This is quite possibly my HG cleanser. I love how basic it is, it does exactaly what I want it too which is removes my makeup and does not break me out. On top of that it helps my skin clear up when I do get breakout, which is fairly often in the summer and less so in the winter. I do find that if my skin is oily or I do a full face of makeup then I have to wash twice but it's not such a big deal as I would rather do that then use a makeup remover that will put oil on my skin, followed by this. I have never had a problem with this stinging my eyes when I use it to remove my makeup. I also love that I don't feel that it is loading my face with ingredients. I can use this followed by my witch hazel toner and then let my moisturizer/ creams do the work as I usually use something antiaging mostly for prevention at this point. At 6this dollars a bottle at WalMart I do think this is a little pricey for such a simple cleaner, but it is a price I will gladly pay for the results I get. My other compalint is that the bottle is not water proof at all so I can't keep it in the shower. This is easily solved by putting half the bottle in a travel size plastic bottle that is water proff. Also, something I am more than willing to do for the amazingness of this product. I will buy again and would reccomend this to anyone. It's also a great cleanser for guys like my husband who don't like using "girly" cleansers.

I really enjoy this cleanser. It cleans my face, unclogs my pores and makes my face really smooth. :) I gave it a 4 becaaaause it doesn't take my make-up off that well. Of course, I'm not sure a cleanser should take off make-up. I think it should! Anyways, I love this and it lathers super well on my face with lots of water. :D Repurchasing!

My girls use this and got me going on it too. I was at my witts end wiith products that would really make my combo skin all the more oily at the end of the day. Not with this product and I think its because it's not soap. It seemed the more drying the soap, the more my skin dumped out the oil. This product doesn't dry out my skin nor make it feel strpped like most soaps I was using. I can honestly say this is the best cleanser I have ever used, and boy, have I used alot! I am a repeat purchaser of this product to begin with, but even more so now.

Target was out of my Cetaphil sensitive skin face wash...so I opted for this. In addition to the Cetaphil my doctor recommended Purpose as well. Purpose is by the far the most gentle face wash that I have ever used. I love that despite it's gentleness it deters my face from becoming a grease-fest by the end of the day while preventing dryness. While my skin can still be prone to the occasional blemish or plug I feel like it's finally reached a consistency that I can deal with. Sorry Cetaphil, I'll be switching over to Purpose for now!

First I just want to thank everyone on MUA for your reviews on this product. I decided to buy it after seeing the high ratings, and the fact that 83% would buy it again. That's one of the best ratings I've ever seen on this site for a skincare product. I have been using this for almost a month and it's transformed my skin. Not dramatically, but I am seeing it get better and better every day. I still have the occasional cyst on the underside of my chin. In fact, I have one right now, but it's going away after just a couple of days as opposed to some that last months before I started using Purpose. As far as my actual face goes, completely clear, smooth, and soft. I was so scared that I would break out bad since I've had such horrible luck with drugstore brand skincare. I have had minor breakouts since using this, however I've developed a routine that is really doing wonders for me now. Purpose is 1/3 of the regimen that is making my skin what I have always wanted it to be. Thanks again everyone for your positive reviews. I know now that I can count on you all, and I look up the reviews on my phone while I'm at the store before I buy something.
