Napoli is my go to lipstick when I want a hassle free splash of color. The formula is more like a tinted lip balm -- it is on the sheer side with vitamin E in it which provides great moisture for your lips. Which means you won't have to precondition your lips before applying it. Perfect for when you are out and about and don't want to carry lip balm AND a lipstick. Because of the moisturizing aspect, the wear is not that impressive. Max a couple hours. The finish is a gorgeous satiny/glossy lip that is understated and yet perfectly polished. Now onto the color itself. Like other reviewers said before, it is like your natural color but enhanced. It is the perfect alternative for those who don't want that concealer nude color. It's not really a nude but more of a pink-apricot color that is subdued which is why it works as an alternative to the typical nudes that tend to wash out your face. I personally don't like the way the foundation nudes look on me which is why I am head over heels for this color. My lips are naturally pretty pigmented so it tones down my color just a tad and still looks incredibly natural. Napoli and Dolce Vita are my 2 favorites. It's on the expensive side but considering how flawlessly it applies, I'd say it's worth the splurge.

Fairly expensive, I bought this a couple years ago on Sephora online because I was looking for a nice nude lipstick. I must say that I agree with the other reviewers, in that it is quite a lovely nude (or as I think of as more appropriate: your lips but better). It is a bit pinkier and softer than a true nude. Anyway my one complaint is the smell. Not sure if mine is just an exception but it has a weird scent to it that I do not enjoy. I deal with it though because it's not unbearable. But it is akin to what an expired/old lipstick smells like. The other minor complaint is the durability - doesn't last too long so I tend to reapply more often. Otherwise, colour is great and I am happy with that as well as the creamy texture (doesn't dry my lips out). I tend to lay a gloss over top to give it some glam when I want to look more done up but natural is very nice as well.

I originally went to NARS wanting to buy Dolce Vita. Unfortunalty they were out so i settled for this lipstick instead. and im SO GLAD that i did! You know when people say they have a lippie that is "their lips only better". well this lipstick is MY lips only better! its matches my lips so well but kind of just fills them in and gives them an extra pop, like filling in my eyebrows or something. weird to compare it to that, i know. but either way i will def be getting another tube to keep with me in my purse! i only give it a 4 bc i find i have to reaply is it often.

Nars Napoli is the perfect nude pout! I have been searching high and low for the perfect nude pout and I have found it. I have fair skin with yellow undertones (NC20) and have had such a hard time finding a perfect nude that is not too pink and not too peach. This is the perfect shade.
It does go on creamy but does not last as long as I would like so I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.
I need to buy another so I can always keep one handy.

I finally found an excellent lipstick that matches my natural lip color. It's a very natural pink and looks very natural on my NC35 skin.
The texture is like a lipstick but not as heavy. It's also very creamy, not drying, but still deposits a good amount of color on the lip. It has a slight sheen but still looks like a lipstick.
My only complaint is the price but for the color and quality, I could live with it. Doesn't it look kind of small though? I'm comparing it to my other lipsticks and I get the feeling I'm getting a bit less.

This is one of the best neutral, everyday lipstick I own. When I'm pressed for time and don't have a whole lot to devote to my makeup, I find myself reaching for this lipstick often to finish off my look. The color is a medium, fleshy pinky-peach although on my nc 37 skin, it pulls more on the peach side. This lipstick is not as sheer as the other Nars sheer lipstick. Even on my pigmented lips, one swipe yields a wash of color than can be built upon. The application is very smooth and feels like I'm applying a good cream lipstick. It finishes off with a sheen so no lipgloss is needed. Length of wear is about average. I can get 2-3 hours of wear before having to touch-up again. When it does wear off completely, it leaves a slight tint to my lips. I find the best use of this when doing a dramatic/smokey eye. The lipstick complements the look by giving my lips a natural, as opposed to "nude" lips. Goes great with my NARS Lovejoy, Luster and my MAC blush in Mocha.

This is classified as "sheer", but I do not consider it to be terribly sheer. Sheer to me is like Boots No 7 Sheer Temptation or BB lip shine. This is very lipsticky to me.
Normally, lipstick looks garish on my fair skin. Looking in the mirror, I will usually see lips and that's all. However, with Napoli, I have finally found the shade that is not too nude, not too orange, & not too pink. It flows well with my skin tone and matches my blush nicely. (I use L'Oreal Precious Peach or LM Lush Nectarine.) Nothing else comes close to this fabulous color. I plan to buy this over and over again.
Update: I figured out why so many are having issues with this being too sheer. If you use it straight from the tube and spread it like a normal lipstick, it is sheer. If you chunk or scrape off a small bit and blend it on lips with a lip brush (or the elf concealer as I do), then it is more opaque. Still LOVE this color!
Update 4/10/11: Still my favorite lipstick! It looks wonderful with NARS Sex Appeal blush, or NYX Peach blush. I wish it had better staying power, but I have purchased another tube to keep in my purse.

I am a lip product junkie!! I own too many already so I try to really only buy what I find unique. Napoli is one of those shades that looks pretty blah in the tube (honestly dont really even know why I grabbed & swatched it) After swatching though I realized how sheer the color actually came off; a warm orange-pink based color. I bought it. Went out into the parking lot & slapped it on. And was...disappointed. But after giving it one more chance at home the next day I realized for me this is one of those shades you DAB on. Makes my lips look fresh with a pretty shade for the summer.

Another lipstick from NARS that I love.
It's a great neutral for me and is very moisturizing and goes on like silk. Love it.

This is my favorite NARS lipstick I've tried so far! I wanted Dolce Vita to be my go-to MLBB shade, but it was a pinch too dark. Napoli is more natural on my rosy lips, although completely different from Dolce Vita. Napoli definitely leans peach but is still natural enough for the office. I wouldn't consider Napoli to be a nude lipcolor - it's more of a fleshy peach. Consistency is moisturizing and can be layered for opacity. I usually wear it topped with gloss and paired with a smoky eye.
For reference, other lip colors I wear are MAC Hug Me l/s and Subculture l/l; NARS Chihuahua l/g.

I am one of those people who cannot pull off just any nude lippy otherwise I look washed out or like I have no lips. For this reason, I have spent years wearing lippies with stonger hues in them and whenever I wore a smokey eye, I would just leave my lips bare (they are not very tinted on their own). But somehow, that look was always unfinished, so I spent months and months searching for a good nude lippy. They key, after talking to several people was that one should not really go down the completely nude lip road as apparently, truly nude lippy does not suit anyone and pretty much washes everyone out. The key is to keep the lips natural and of course, everyone has their own natural, depending on the natural colour of their lips, skin, hair, eyes, etc. For me Napoli is that perfect natural colour that allows me to polish the smokey eye look without being too obvious on my lips and without clashing with my nail polish (I love to wear red nail polishes and I am obsessed with ensuring that my nails and lips are not in collusion colour-wise).
I think most reviewers below have described the colour and texture well. On me it is not matte at all though (I've seen some references to that), but it has a nice sheen. Also, the colour has a perfect mix of peach and pink for someone with mostly warm colouring in their complexion. I can see that along with Mitzi this will be a staple product in my makeup collection. Highly recommended!
UPDATE: HG nude lippy status - THE best!

this is a muted peach/pink lipstick. i have yellow undertones and i wear this with giza lipgloss and nars deepthroat blush. the colors work perfect.
there is no fragrance listed- but upon application there is a weird smell -but it goes away.
you also need to wait a few seconds till the lipstick "warms/melts" into your lips. i've noticed a few of nars lip products takes a few seconds to settle in right.
but the color is beautiful, i really like it .its an everyday look.

This is the best nude lipstick I have ever encountered. I love the Nars sheer lipsticks, from Damage to Gipsy to Captiva, the formulation is great, not greasy in the least, as the satin lipsticks are, nor prone to dryness, like the mattes. I am not especially pale, not especially dark, and olive toned, and this works wonders on me, really lighting up my face. Excellent for day wear, rather subtle, while at the same time providing some real sex appeal.

Napoli is a very pretty color! I'm super-pale, so it's not really a nude on me--more of a MLBB (definitely darker than my natural lip). On my pigmented lips, Napoli appears as a mid-toned, warm, muted brick red (more subdued than an actual red), with a bit of brown and orange undertones, that brightens my warm-to-neutral-toned skin and appears to give me a healthy flush. It's also not too bright that it could easily be worn as an office/casual lipstick, but it's dark enough that it works well for an evening look, too.
Minus one lippie for being a tad dry and not having the best smell (it has that "makeup" smell). I would buy this again, though. Napoli looks so flattering on me, whereas MAC's Kinda Sexy, which I thought would be similar, ended up looking super-orange and odd on me.

I fell in love with both this and it's sister shade Barbarella when I tried them both on at Sephora. Still missing Barbarella, but I finally have this one!
Firstly, This is a wonderful nude that complements my colroing very well. I'm very fair-sknned with golden blonde hair, blue eyes, and a little bit of a peachy tint to my coloring.Looks very sheer and natural looking.
I compared this to my other two peachy nude lipsticks- Aveda Conch and Revlon Apricot Fantasy. Looking at swatches of these three togther, Napoli is definitely the sheerest of the three, and less pigment is deposited with one swipe. The tint is a little more pink and less peach/apricot than the other two. Apricot Fantasy appears lighter and with more golden hues, and Conch seems to be brighter and less beige as well. I like Napoli when I want something more toned down and less loud.
I do have one problem that I took away one lippie for- the color smudges a lot, so re-application is needed pretty consistantly. But on the other hand, it has a smooth, non-gritty texture that feels more like a balm than a waxy, dry lipstick.

My 2nd lippie from NARS after honolulu honey (which i love). Napoli is a great nude color and is slightly darker than honolulu honey which is more peachy beige. This one has more pink in it. However it does look very lovely and somehow i find that it really defines my lips very well. Great paired with a berry blush. As with all NARS packaging, its very simple so im not a big fan of the packaging but their colors are amazing. will repurchase when i run out.

Like many other reviewers of Napoli, I have found it very difficult to find a nude lipstick that works for me. I'm NW15 with blue eyes and thick black brows and lashes - not exactly the kind of coloring that lends itself well to the orangey beiges and tans that most makeup lines consider nude. Simply put, this color is fantastic. It's got just enough peach and pink in it to be wearable for someone with a pale complexion, but it still comes across as a nude lipstick. The only reason this loses a lippie for me is the formula. It doesn't apply as smoothly as I'd like, and it dries out my lips somewhat - I can't wear it too often or else I start chapping. However, I haven't found a color like it with any other makeup brand, so I may repurchase when it runs out if I don't find a duplicate with a better formula before then.

I have a coolish skintone and rosy pigmented lips, and Napoli is perfect for me when I want a wearable warm shade that is a little darker than my normal lip color. It manages to be not too orange and not too brown, but yet it's not pink! Looks great with Clinique's baby buff quickliner and NARS Deep Throat blush. It has a bit of a dry consistency which helps it to stay on for a long time. This is listed as a sheer but to me it's thicker than a sheer. I find this similar (but a shade lighter) than Laura Mercier Fig, a discontinued color that I loved. I also really REALLY love this with Turkish Delight over it - glosses it up and makes it a bit more pink.

COLOR: Wow! What a pretty, flattering lipstick! I've been lemming this forever due to the descriptions here and finally got the chance to swap for it recently. The color is a wonderful light apricot nude-pink and no brown or beige in it (on my pigmented, rosy lips at least). Unlike a lot of other 'nude' lippies, this has no gray or muddy tones--the color is so clean and fresh, but somehow not bright or vivid.
SIMILAR COLORS: This reminds me of two of my other favorite everyday lipsticks: MAC's Kinda Sexy and Revlon's Almost Nude. Napoli is more apricot than Kinda Sexy, which is more of a mauve-pink nude, and slightly brighter and more colorful than Almost Nude, especially if it's layered slightly (Definitely check those two out if you like Napoli).
TEXTURE/FEEL: It's almost a cream formula with an understated balmy shine rather than a glossy or matte look. Perfect for spring! Texture is smooth and light, slightly drying so a lip balm beneath is recommended. No scent or taste. I don't think it's that sheer at all. I got a lot of color with about two coats and I have pretty pigmented lips--perhaps if you have darker skin it won't show up as much? (IMO, this would look best on fairly pale or tanned skintones--mediums with yellow undertones might get a concealer lips look)
VERDICT: Expensive but it's a great, versatile color.

I feel like I have been looking for the perfect "nude" forever. I have coloring that doesn't lend itself to what most makeup lines consider nude: very dark hair and eyes, pale skin, not very pigmented lips. What most people consider nude seemed either very dark or very beige on me--not flattering at all. So I experimented over the years with different glosses and pencils, and I have a lot of combos I like, but when it comes down to it sometimes I just want a lipstick and not a gloss. It looks more modern and fresh to me compared to a really glossy shine. This fit the bill perfectly! It's got just enough pink/peach/beige to make it show up, the texture is sheer and satiny, and it just perfectly completes the look with smokey eyes. My search is over! Like other NARS products, you really have to try them on. They do not look accurate in the pan for sure, and not even swiped on your hand. I spent a little time in Sephora with an alchol pad and a q-tip but it was worth it!
