I feel as though I've given this product ample chances.
I've tried it 3 times, for about a week each time (spaced out many months in between).
The first 2 times, I kept waking up with new, very large, breakouts. Decided to give it one more chance since I'm clear now thanks to the right (for me) BCP.
I've been using it every other night. My skin feels clogged, dehydrated, and extremely rough, and I have gotten a few pimples. Nothing has ever made the texture of my skin feel so... icky... for lack of a better word.
BTW my skin tolerates tretinoin and TCA, Jessner, and Mandelic peels, so I don't know what it is about this toner, but it obviously just doesn't work with my skin, unfortunately.

This was my HG toner. I didn't use it all that often, but when I did my skin felt soooo clean. Its very potent. I can't seem to find it anywhere though, except essential day spa... rumor is its been discontinued. I'm not using Peter Thomas Roth's 10% glycolic toner instead, but I prefer my good old DDF.

This is really expensive and I did loose a whole 50$ bottle because the cap came open and it spilled all over my bag but besides that i really love this toner! It is harder than you think to find a toner with a decent level of glycolic acid and minimal ingridients.... for me right now and my skin issues of the moment (hormonal acne)....this is more effective than weekly peels as Im getting like a mini mini peel every morning and night when I use it. I don't know about controlling acne Im using BP for that, but It is fading my marks as I use it morning and night. I dont find it drying but i'm a long time actives user

I have never suffered from a ton of acne, but it was pretty rare for me NOT to have at least one pimple on my face at any given time. I found it annoying enough to want to do something about it, so I picked this up after reading all the reviews. It definitely keeps pimples at bay, except during my TOTM. It does help heal up those pimples faster than before though. I do not really have any problems with fine lines or pore size, so I can't really speak to how well it works on that end. But, I find it to be great for my needs, it doesn't strip or dry out my skin, the tingle actually feels cooling in the summer, and the smell is just something I can deal with for the 30 seconds it takes for it to go away. I think I have about 60% of my bottle left and I have had it for a little under 2 months, I would estimate this lasting at least 4 months if used twice daily, so it is kind of worth the price. :P

I am prone to cystic acne. Every time that I use this it causes me to break out. It smells bad and leaves a sticky film on my face. I know its working because I feel the tingle, but I don't know what is in it that causes me to break out. I accidentally used it the other night instead of my Mario Badescu toner and sure enough the next morning I had to pimples forming. It is one of the few times that I have used a product and knew for sure that it was breaking me out.

I have been using this product consistently for the last 4 years, and I continue to purchase it because the results are always good. I have had acne for years (to varying degrees) and I credit this product with helping to turn it around. Save for the once-a-month PMS zits (and even those aren't that bad), it's usually looking pretty nice. When I use it less frequently (laziness) I notice the difference - my complexion looks "blah". In my opinion, it is the most effective product I have found to remove makeup and dirt after washing, reduce blackheads and other acne and makes my skin look brighter. If you have sensitive skin you may find it tingles too much or is irritating, but to me if feels clean and refreshing. With my combination skin, I need to pair it with a nice moisturizer (I like Neutrogena Tone-Correcting and basic Olay oil-free lotion). Once a day before bed is enough; if it weren't so experience I'd be using it twice per day though. The container is not practical at all because the liquid comes out of the spout too fast and the lid is pointless. For $53 CDN, I think DDF should offer higher quality packaging.

Awesome! I have oily skin, and this product has make my skin such great change, it might dry your skin, so what I do is I soak the cotton with water , then I pure in the toner and clean my face, that way it doesnt dry my skin.

Let's start with the packaging. It's the same as the glycolic wash offered by DDF. While the packaging works for the thick gel, it doesn't work for liquids. It often dispenses too much liquid on my cotton pad. Try not to travel with this, because like someone stated below, it has a tendency to leak . Trust me..you don't want this to leak cause it smells pretty rank. Yes...this product stinks....like a skunk. My sister is super sensitive to smells, so she'd faint if she used this on her face. The scent doesn't linger too long. I use the exfoliating gel and Ole Henrikson sheer transformation cream on top and the skunky smell doesn't peek through. The product itself is wonderful. I have been using this for a few months and it has greatly improved my skin texture and clarity. I use the Glycolic Wash , Glycolic Toner, and Exfoliating Moisturizer from DDF, so it isn't just the toner that's making my skin look fabulous. I have used other glycolic products in the past (I've used the MD Forte line for a loooooong time) but this one is the best! I have acne prone skin with a lot of acne scars. I have no active acne and the scars are diminishing thanks to DDF.
My everyday routine is:
AM: DDF Glycolic Exfoliating Wash 5%, DDF Glycolic 10% Toner, DDF Glycolic 10% Exfoliating Moisturizer, Ole Henrikson Sheer Transformation Cream
PM: Boscia Make Up Cleansing Oil, DDF Glycolic Exfoliating Wash 5% (with my Clarisonic), DDF Glycolic 10% Toner, Acanya (benzoyl peroxide, clindamyacin prescription lotion)

I started using this toner to get a better clean after my cleanser. My skin has stayed smooth and I feel it working, which is an important indicator for me. This may be strong for sensitive skin, but mines quite tough, so I haven't shown redness or dryness.

I started using the product about two weeks ago and I am liking the results thus far. It doesn't break me out and doesn't sting but it is a little drying. However, my skin looks brighter after I use it and I am hoping to see that it lightens some old acne marks. I don't care for the smell and the bottle that it comes in makes it hard to not waste product.

This product works wonders. I am 29, have what I recently discovered is somewhat dry/sensitive skin that is prone to clogs around the chin/jaw area, unevenness on the forehead, and some hormonal breakouts. I am also interested in some anti-aging properties.
First, the cons - this doesn't smell great going on, but the skunky scent dissipates after a minute or so. Also I have to say the packaging sucks. My first bottle completely spilled when I was travelling and I lost pretty much all of it =( I do not find that the product stings like other reviewers have said.
I have been using this over a month, and the results are fantastic. I use a salicylic acid at night after washing (I use mineral oil to cleanse), and I swipe this on with a cotton ball when I wake up in the morning. It has pretty much eliminated the clogs around my chin/jaw and the hormonal breakouts, and my forehead is completely clear. I also find it very moisturizing, and I don't have redness or irritation around my nose like I used to. When I don't use this for even a day, the clogs start to reappear around my cheeks/chin. I have actually gotten compliments on my skin, no joke. The bottle does seem to last quite a while, so I am definitely willing to shell out the money for this. I do believe that my success is the result of my skin regime in total, but I think this product is a definite key.

I've been using this toner for 4 days. I haven't seen my acne scars clear up but my stubborn white heads on my chin that are impossible to eliminate by any scrubs have disappeared after I use this toner. I will keep on using this product to see what this could do next.

This toner is probably the closest thing to a 'miracle' product that I have come across. I had severe acne as a teen, and as an adult I've cleared up, but I still battle minor breakouts occasionally (mainly around that TOTM, around my chin and jaw line).
When I first started exploring glycolic products, I experimented with a cleanser and moisturizer (PTR). They worked well, so I knew that I was on the right track with glycolic products. However, I was always switching between my glycolic products and my regular skin care because every day use was too harsh and drying for my skin. I found that to be kind of annoying, but with this toner I can stick with my regular (ie, less expensive) skin care product line and then just incorporate the toner into that routine. My skin could probably handle daily use of the toner if I built up to it, but I stick to about 3x a week and get great results. I've been using this product for 6 months now and the bottle is still about half full. This makes it a very economical routine for me, so worth it!
Packaging leaves a bit to be desired because it can be hard to control the amount that ends up on the cotton pad, resulting in a lot of wasted product! I think I might transfer it into a misting spray bottle, and then pat down with the cotton pad.
Overall this product has made a huge difference for me! Breakouts are few and far between, and the best part is that my skin has gone from oily to completely normal! I've had oily skin my whole life, so this was a big deal for me :) All the mattifying makeup and cosmetic products I used in the past to combat oilies now dry up my skin! I'm so impressed!
Routine: Body Shop Vitamin E line - Cream cleanser, Toner, SPF15 Daytime Lotion, and Night Creme. DDF Toner 3x a week at night after cleansing. Sodium Naproxen 1x day around TOTM helps with breakouts too :)

I love DDF in general. I love this glycolic toner as it's a decent percent (10%.) It's hard to find Glycolics (AHA's) in this form (liquid.) Most Glycolic treatments are in lotion/cream form. The reason I prefer this form is that I have the opportunity to apply another (different) active atop, such as a retinol lotion/cream. Trying to do this w/lotion/cream formulas and you've greased yourself w/all the applications/layers. AHA's (this Glycolic toner) will not only rid your skin of dead surface cells, but w/continued use will increase the formation of collagen and elastin. These are the networks within the underlying layers of skin which keep it firm. My skin is quite tolerable of aggressive treatments/products which are truely active. I had to build my skin up to this level of agressiveness, but it's what truely allows my degree of active products to really work and benefit my skin. I use my fingers to apply it, pouring it into one scooped palm and adding the other clean/dry palm so they are evenly distributed and then apply this Glycolic as if it were a lotion/cream moisturizer. This application process really saves the product as when I use cotton to apply I will go through this twice as fast. This is just simply a marvelously active/quality product. It's addition to my skincare regine truely makes a visible difference. Highly recommended!!!

background: beauty concerns of acne and anti-aging.
texture and smell: as all toners, this one is a liquid and goes on my cotton ball/pad like water. it feels cool and refreshing on my skin, but after about 15 seconds, i can feel a slight tingling. its not uncomfortable, but its a reminder to me that i need to show extra tlc to my skin because it is an acid after all. i think 10% is the highest over-the-counter percentage of glycolic acid you can get without a prescription. i mention the smell because, well, its not pleasant. it has a skunk-ish scent to it after i put it on my skin. it makes me feel like the smell is coming from my skin burning from the acid, but i cant be sure about that. its just my brain messing with me, maybe. the smell does subside after a little bit.
usage: i use the toner after cleansing but before hydrating. i pour on a little bit, as i would any toner, onto my cotton ball and gently apply it all over my face, my neck, chest, and back. from what i know, glycolic acid helps in evening out skin tone, brightening the skin of blemishes and spots, and helps to prevent fine lines. if this holds true, i think it best to use it on all four places so that the skin would be even throughout my upper torso, right? i have been using the toner every other night, but will work up to using it every night after about a month. i dont want to leave my skin feeling raw. the first time i used it, my skin did get a little pink initially. the night inbetween helps to keep my skin from getting shocked again. my skin literally sparkles and looks so clean afterwards. i can tell all of that dead skin has gotten exfoliated. at the same time, it also tells me that i need to be very consistent in applying my daytime sunscreen because skin this raw and stripped needs protection.
price and packaging: the toner was about $40 and the packaging is a no-nonsense plastic bottle--good for travel and sturdy. i can tell that this bottle will last me a while, so $40 doesnt seem steep at all for the time being. a little goes a long way with this toner.
the verdict?: i do like this toner a lot. i use it on every other night and use a sensitive-skin witch hazel toner in the daytime. i have no reason to stop using the glycolic complex, so ill be going through the whole bottle before i decide whether or not to repurchase it. it leaves my face bright, fresh, and clean. it is not drying, nor does it make me greasy. its the perfect little pick-me-up my skin needs during those patchy, foggy skin days.

Decided to get this product after seeing all the rave reviews on MUA. Like many others, I experienced some purging when I first used this product but it went away after the first week. Since then it has kept my face feeling clean and glowing. I know some people describe this product as drying but I use this at night every day and actually feel that this acts as a moisturizer and makes my skin softer and smoother. Then again I have very very oily skin. Used in conjunction with the DDF BP 5% and Sulfur treatment mask, it has also helped to keep blemishes at bay.

At first I wasn't sure this was giving me any results at all, I had bought a bunch of skincare items all at the same time and I couldn't be sure which one was responsible for which benefits I was seeing in my skin. But then I went on a vacation and decided not to bring this with me (but some of the other products I bought I did bring with me) and I definitely started seeing the difference in clarity and brightness in my skin. After a week without this toner I started seeing clogged pores all over my chin and a few more black heads on my nose coming back.
After that experience I feel confident in saying that this toner has made a huge difference in preventing acne, fading acne scars, and helping me to maintain an overall even skin tone. This toner does help with blackheads, but it doesn't get rid of them completely for me (I find my Clarisonic Mia to be more effective for those). I use this after cleansing at night only focusing on my T-zone and apply moisturizer on top of this and wake up with glowing skin.
Before this toner I used to use Neutrogena's Pore Refining Toner because it also has glycolic acid in it, but I didn't really see any results from that toner (I didn't see much difference in my skin if I went on vacation without it) even after using an entire bottle of it. I had heard of how great this toner was, but I didn't want to bite the expensive bullet and just get it (because damn this is pricey for a toner) so I got the Neutrogena hoping it was dupe. Well I can say at least for my skin the Neutrogena definitely isn't a dupe. If you have problem skin that clog easily I wholeheartedly recommend giving this a try.
A few notes, I want to reiterate what others are saying and mention that this toner does not smell like a bouquet of roses. In the beginning the smell bothered me, but now I hardly notice it, now I just notice how much better my skin looks. I also just want to say I absolutely love the packaging on this product. Usually I don't have much to say about packaging, but I love that this has a cap to protect the spout from being bumped open and spilling everywhere when traveling. Why can't more of these high end brands think of good packaging like this?

My skin texture didnt improve, nor did it help with any break outs. I think it actually caused me to break out when I was using it regularly because when I stopped my skin got better. For $40, this is way too expensive to repurchase when it doesnt do anying for me.
