I love this brush. I think it was discontinued to be replaced by the natural-haired 55. But having used it, I now have new love for 43, it just has more 'slip'. I think 55 is being replaced so will be interesting to see what happens there.

I have only used it for liquid foundation so cannot comment on using it for creams. But I actually had 4 number 43s at one point (this is through a weird fluke on presents, kits etc, not because I've got some weird fetish) so though I have since passed on some of the love, I was able to compare different ones side by side.

Long gold handle
Long lucite slim handle
Short lucite slim handle
Short lucite tapered handle (came in a blue suede style kit)

I loved both the long-handled ones, but I think the gold one had a slight edge on the lucite one. It must be about 10 years old and still seems like new.

I don't think the short-handled ones were as good, and the short one with the tapered handle which I still have is nowhere as good as the others, and I'd say is streaky. In fact, whilst that kit seemed great value at the time, the brushes I got in it just don't seem the same quality as my other brushes.

I LOVE this brush. It's perfect for putting on liquids, which is what a foundation brush is for! I've seen people complain about using it for creams, it's not meant for creams. I like that it has a shorter handle so there's better control and the length of the bristles means I get a smoother application.

the bristles are too weak. this brush left very visible streaks on my face when i use cream foundation but not as much when i use liquid foundation; i always have to use a sponge or my fingers to go over it after application. it is too flimsy.

This has got to be the worst foundation brush I'ved used. Makes foundation go on streaky, not firm enough, just not good and very expensive .What a waste! Chanel's foundation brush is excellent and worth the money. Lancome's is pretty good too. And Mac's a close third. If you buy the TM one, save the receipt, so you can return it if it doesn't work for you.

I love my other Trish brushes, but this one is a dud. Though the clear lucite handle looks great, the brush is too long and flimsy and does not give good control in applying foundation. I don't find it gives an even finish.

As the other reviers have described, this brush is relatively flimsy for a foundation brush. I would highly recommend Chanel's #16 foundation brush - perfect size, right amoung of stiffness, but still gloriously velvety soft, and produces beautiful results.

Overall I love Trish's brushes. However, I think this is one of the worst brushes in her collection. It seems flimsy and too long for the application of foundation. I find it makes my foundation look streaky, and I must continue to work the foundation into my skin. I totally prefer Prescriptive's foundation brush.

This is my first foundation brush and I definitely understand why it's a must! It applies evenly and covers scars/blemishes if you work around it in a circle with the brush. Also it is great for blending with the neck so you don't get an obvious white line there. A lot of people have complained about this one and I have decided to try a new one because it does tend to streak. For now I have checked that I will not repurchase, but I will update when I have tried another brand brush. (not that there is need to repurchase, it will probably last forever)

I have tried the following foundation brushes: Prescriptives, Giorgio Armani and this one. This IS my HG foundation brush!!! I've used it to apply both YSL Teint Parfait and Cle de Peau Teint Naturel Satine. When you want to apply really light and creamy products such as these you don't want to use your fingers because of the tendency for uneven application. This foundation brush makes it so it applies just enough, lets you build coverage and eliminates product waste on top of avoiding contamination with your fingers. Since the bristles are synthetic, washing and drying is a breeze. I've been using it for a while now and find that since I have become accustomed to using it for foundation application I can no longer apply my foundation any other way!

trish makes some of the best brushes, but this foundation brush is not one of them. it is too long, too difiicult to use with liquid foundation and yet too easy to have 'skunk' face after using it. bleh
this blush came with a very nice set from saks so i had to find another use for it. it is ok with cream or gel blushes. still not great but way better then with foundation. also, i found a foundation brush at the 99 cents store which is as good with blushes as trish's brush and performs better with foundations.
if you want a really good foundation brush - buy one from lancome instead.

This is one of my least favorite Trish McEnvoy brush. I have about 12 brushes by her and I love them but this one is too floppy as a foundation brush. I tried MAC before but returned it since I got this one. I like the MAC brush more b/c it's denser. I guess I'm getting the MAC one again. I do love the lucite handles on Trish Mcenvoy brushes - so clean and modern looking!

I love this brush! It really applies the foundation very professionally and doesnt take up too much of the foundation on the brush....its application is very smooth and seamless.

When I first started using this brush I loved it. However, after using it for a while, I noticed that my foundation streaks on my face when I put it on. I think the bristles are too, oh how do I say it, floppy or spread apart. I won't be buying this brush again and am on the hunt for another one. However, I do have a few of Trish's other brushed and I do like them.

I am a Foundation Brush Ho. I have 6 foundation brushes and I have to say that the TM is my least favorite of the one I have. My main problem with it is that the bristles are too long and doesnt give me the control that I like. I much prefer a slightly bigger, stiffer head like those on a MAC or Lancome foundation brush. (IMO, those two are the best on the market.)Having said that, the TM brush gets the job done. The brush is very soft to the touch and easy to clean. I have used it for both cream and powder foundations and it worked fine.

I can't believe I waited so long to buy a foundation brush! Incredibly easy to use. I always thought they looked too large-but really the size is what allows for the best, most time efficient application. My pores around my nose are rather large, and if I use the 'stipple'tecnique(bob or repeatedly dab brush from side to side) then lightly tap w/ finger tips this covers every pore and leaves me with a very smooth finish. Available in long or short handle(got the short,myself-like to get really close to mirror to apply)I clean it every day and it hasn't lost a bristle, it's shape, or splayed. Great brush!

Super soft and flexible brush which allows for effortless & streak free application of foundation.

This is my HG foundation brush and one I do recommend. The bristles reach every contour of the face whereas most other foundation brushes do not.

Other reviewers have noted the length of the bristles but I've not found that to be a problem.
In fact, I find that the added length allows for the effortless & flexible application of foundations.

Like other reviewers here, I had never used a foundation brush before. I would usually use my fingers to apply. Every few years, I would try a make-up sponge, but would end up go ing back to a finger-tip application.

I thought it might take me a few tries to get the hang of applying foundation with a brush.
Wrong! My first attempt using the brush was perfect!
I've used it with Bobbi Brown Oil Free and Sue Devitt 70% seaweed gel.

This brush allowed a flawless application. I didn't have to rub with my fingers at all.
It also cleaned very easily.
I can't wait to get more of Trish McEvoy brushes!

I had never used a foundation brush before this. Didn't even know they existed. Then swapped for this after hearing reviews, and wanting to get an item out of my cupboard.

I'm in love. It took a few weeks to completely master applying it, and once I did, it was quick and completely natural looking. The bristles are very flexible and can reach all contours of the face. Even better: I started using it with my StudioFix powder foundation, and have now tossed away my sponges/applicators. Works great with both wet and dry foundation. So worth the money.

Essential makeup brush!!! It allows me to apply the lightest layer of foundation without mucking it up with the oils in my hands. I'll never be without it.

I've had 2 PX foundation brushes for years, and while I love them and they are in great shape, I needed something with slightly longer and firmer bristles for my cream to powder compact. I was debating between this brush and the Awake brush and chose this because its bristles seemed easier to clean, and I could apply a promo and get it at a reduced rate. This is an excellent brush, it feels very soft on my face, and I love the clear Lucite handle. If anything happened to this, I would repurchase it.
