Courtisane is a natural, albeit frosted/metallic, shade which subtly enhances natural lip color. It is neither too cool or too warm, sort of a NARS Orgasm for the lips. I would call it a golden-peachy rose shade. The formula has a pleasant scent and the product is quite moisturizing, although not long-lasting. It is color-changer similar to MAC "O", but it is not quite as dark and has a better "feel" in my opinion. Great for instant polish, day or night. Would purchase again. :)

Courtisane is one of LM's Stickgloss lip colors. Let me say that the picture and description for Courtisane on the LM website are completely inaccurate ("mauve-rose-pink"). Courtisane is a very complex and shimmery color with hints of pink, red, coral, gold, and copper. It applies sheerly and feels moisturizing and lightweight, but the shimmer makes it look more opaque than it really is. You can make it look even more opaque, of course, by layering it. I am very fair (NW10ish) with cool tones, and I have a hard time deciding if this looks more warm or more cool on me, due to the shimmer. I don't often wear lipstick with shimmer/pearl/frost/etc., so I feel a little more glamorous and sophisticated when I apply this product. That being said, it isn't inappropriate for daily wear. You could definitely wear it to work or glam it up for an evening look. I think this color would work on most skintones. However, I would recommend you try at Sephora or the LM counter before purchasing as there are hints of so many colors within the product that you need to see which ones are pulled out prominently with your own skintone to see if it is a good lipcolor for you.

This is a beautiful mixture of rose/coral/pink with a gold frost. It's light weight and brings a fresh brightening moisture to the lips. I have cool undertones, but this looks fabulous!! My l/s has no smell. I am wondering if those whose smell bad were contaminated with bacteria and they should replace them.

Works really well on me. It just makes me look a bit brighter and happier, if that makes sense. I think the color has been well described by others and so I won't confuse anyone with more description and words here. I think it's a bit similar to MAC Lustre Honey Flower (discontinued) which I also have. MAC's is more neutral/golden toned whereas Courtisane is a bit brighter coral pink, and a tad shinier. The texture is also a bit creamier than MAC Lustre. This can work as a neutral color for work, and can certainly be sexed up if you want. Will definitely buy if/when run out.

I can't believe my initial reaction was to return this--the light must have been bad. Courtisane is a stick gloss in a sheer, shiny gorgeous muted pink/red that I can't imagine looking bad on anyone. If I lined up all my dozens of lipsticks and glosses and could only save one, this would be it. Nuff said.

A friend bought this color to wear on her wedding day, as she is not one who wears lipsticks on a daily basis. I fell in love with the color and how it feels. I have pretty pigmented lips and feel that this adds just a touch of red/pink and a but of shine. Like my lips but better.

This is a light shimmer, blend of rosey pink & peach stick gloss. Looks natural yet polished enough of color for my skin tone. This is perhaps my first HG natural looking colors lip color. I like LM's gloss sticks texture applying smoothly with hint of shine & be layered to increase pigmentation steadily.

I've had this in my makeup kit for a few years...I used it quite a bit when I bought it and then just forgot about it, I suppose. I recently re-tried it and I still love it! For me, it's like my natural lip color but better. Shiny but not too glossy, it helps me look polished without that "lipstick" feel. I love the shimmery flecks in it, very subtle. It feels creamy, smooth and light on my lips. I can always count on Laura Mercier to have really wearable lip color.

I stopped dead in my tracks when walking by the LM counter as soon as I saw this color gleaming out at me under the Nordstrom lights. It's one of those universally flattering colors. I've never used a stick gloss before, but I was sold on the concept after using this. Unlike others, I haven't noticed any smell, good or bad.

This is a pretty color but a little light on me. I love the texture and the pretty shimmer to it but I have to use a few coats to get color on my lips. The amount of lipstick you get for 22 bucks isn't alot. So in my opinion, if this color is the best color you have ever tried on, don't get it. I have fair skin (NW20) and brown hair, blue eyes and this is just too light on me. It doesn't look good with warm colors. I use alot of browns and oranges on my blue eyes and this doesn't look right with it. Maybe I will use it more in the summer when my makeup is not as heavy. But for now, I wish I hadn't spent all the money on it. Like I said though, if you wear cool color palettes, then this might look beautiful on you. It is a pretty color and looks very professional on.

LM reformulated their lipsticks so it doesn't have that nasty plasticy smell anymore. This lipstick is pretty--- reddish, pinkish with some gold flecks. It goes on smooth and feels light on the lips. I think it's a very pretty color!

Well - it was tough reviewing this l/s. The colour is beautiful and the texture is lovely. I have medium-pink pigmented lips and Courtisane shows up a sheer bronzy/orange/red/pink with light golden shimmers (not glittery). It's very understated and comfortable to wear. Why only 3 lippies? One off for the strong fragrance - usually I don't mind fragrance in a l/s as long as I can't taste it. This l/s changed the flavour of everything I ate or drank whilst wearing it. And for that I knocked off another lippie, because it was therefore not worth the price I paid for it. Had the fragrance not been so strong, I wouldn't have minded paying that price (and it would've been worth 5 lippies). Will not repurchase.

This shade changes on EVERYONE. It's kinda like MAC O where no one can agree on the shade but they know it can be very pretty depending on the person. I have black hair, black eyes, LM Sunny Beige, MAC NC30 skintone. My lips are medium pigmented pink. With this on, it comes to be a wonderful pinky rose with a slight slight bronze undertone. It's quite beautiful and feels lovely. The pigmentation on this one is medium so it can give a YLBB appearance if sheered out.

I like how this one works with many looks... whether it be office or formal dinner parties, this one works. It's not an obvious 'LOOK AT ME' colour but it's a subtle glamour colour.

I wanted to love this color after reading the reviews, but I just don't. It is a very pretty rose-pink, but I think it is too light on me. I still wear it to work, since it is SOOO light, but it really doesn't do much for me. (light brown/dark blonde hair, green eyes, fair).

The smell isn't the best-it reminds me of my grandma's lipsticks. I don't think you get as much actual lip stick in the case as you do with other brands. The holding power isn't great, but it improves if you use lip liner underneath.

This was a huge disappointment for me...not at all what I was expecting from something called "Courtisane" (which conjures up images of beautiful red lips). First of all, the color is a coppery pink which sounds beautiful but in reality makes my teeth look yellow (as does any lipstick with an orange/copper/gold tint). My second gripe is with the consistency of Laura Mercier lipsticks ~ they are far too sheer for my liking. This is my second LM lipstick purchase and I'm beginning to think of them more as light glazes or tints rather than true lipsticks. Needless to say, I won't buy again.

Beautifukl color. Looks wonderful on my pale asian skin tone. Lightly apply is perfect for a business look. You can buid up a more intense color for a night out. The down side is the HORRIBLE smell and the packaging. The smell is really put me off. Won't by it again because of that.

This is a great everyday lipstick. It has good consistency and as a reviewer stated below you don't need to use lipliner with this, it works well on its own. It has a nice rosy color that is perfect for a casual natural look. It is another one of those "just like my lips only better" products. The only reason I subtracted a lippie is I hate the price but I would buy it again.

Courtisane is a pink-rose with a lot of gold shimmer. The overall effect is very quiet and subtle. It wasn't vibrant enough for me (a brunette), so I looked a little washed out and it had more shimmer than I am comfortable with in daylight. I gave it a "4" because it is a great consistency - sheer and moisturizing - and a nice natural color. Ultimately I needed a rose color with a hint more vibrancy. If you are a blonde, it will probably look great.
