Just bought this product after mulling over it for almost a month and I was compelled to write about my experience. I have shoulder length, fine, wavy hair that needs to be washed every single day and requires conditioning only once a week or it gets weighed down. After washing, blow drying, applying a light protectant spray throughout the ends, and then straightening, I applied this product. The first application was very light and then I went heavy. The key is to lightly mist. This product should not be handled like a hairspray. A small mist really does go a long way. Too much and the hair will feel and look like it was doused in oil. When using this product I can go two days without washing the hair and it looks better the second day. Never have I found a product that allows me to do this. Since the product is more of a wax I wouldn't advise anyone to really use this on their roots. This is not by any means a root booster. If you love the messy, chunky, textured look this is the product for you. Big sexy hair is a godsend.

PROS: This works okay, if you don't use too much.
CONS: The wet dog smell was horrible. Can't believe I used to spend money to have my hair smell like this.
ALTERNATES: I'm better off with TiGi's Small Talk for all-over volume and TiGi's Catwalk Root Boost for root lift.

This product worked really well for me. A friend recommended it to me and let me try some of hers, and I fell in love with it instantly. My hair is just below chin-length, razor-cut with lots of layers, and naturally super-straight. When I flipped my head over and sprayed this in my hair, I was really surprised at how perfectly big and texturized it turned out. I usually tease my hair up really big to get this effect, but with this product I just need a little bit of back-combing, and this spray does the rest. Love it!

this stuff is magic! i was so amazed the first time i tried it. i've been trying to get this look forever, my hair is perfectly piecey and just messy enough without looking gross when i use this.
my favorite look is to straighten my hair and then turn my head upside down and use it, but i like the way it looks when i leave my hair wavy too. idk what i ever did without this stuff, i'll repurchase this every time i run out. hopefully they'll never discontinue, this is my first ever HG hair product.

I really like this product! It works best for me, if I spray a bit on my hands and work it through my fine, just below chin-length bob. It offers some control of those crazy flyaways, and it actually holds it somewhat. I used it in the morning like I described before, by putting the product on my hands, then flipping over and working it through my hair, and the results were natural. Good texture and separation. I worked all day, then came home and worked outside in the wind for about 3 hours. A friend wanted me to go to dinner, and my hair still looked "okay", but I wanted it to look a little more polished. This time, I sprayed a few bursts onto the bottom of my hair, flipped over and worked it through, and my hair looked great. I don't think I could live without this stuff now.

This thing is like spraying glue on your hair! I was extremely disappointed but tried to see if i can use it with another way. So i tried spraying on the roots after i have blowdried and straighten my hair. Ok for that matter its preety good!i seperate the top layer of my hair and spray it on the underneath hair (roots) and then release the rest of the hair. Total volumising!A little sticky but it dries eventually.
P.S. Did i mention it smells horrible???

No, no, no. This is a spray-on WAX, which I wish would have been indicated on the package. I swear it's the lighter version of Play Dirty (or whatever it's called - same line). It did not make my hair (thick, layered, highlighted) texturized at all - it made it clumpy, filmy, heavy and frizzy all at the same time. If you've used other wax products and they give you texture, then this will most likely work for you. I can't imagine it doing anything other than weighing hair down regardless of texture.

Received In Swap - I sprayed this on and I would not recommend. It made my hair sticky/clumpy and also frizzy. It also took a long time to dry for me. Definately sticking with my Aveda and Paul Mitchell sprays!

I like this product. I tried it at a friends house at first, while I was staying with her for a couple days. After that I knew I needed to get it for myself. I have a short layered bob. She told me to go easy on it or it would get greasy, which it DOES. But, I really think it works well. i would definatly repurchase it.

I agree with many others that this product is too heavy and it made my hair look like an oil slick. I had big hopes for this product and waited until I had a big night out to use it. BIG MISTAKE. I have mid length very fine, straight hair. I flipped my hair forward, as recommended, sprayed- but not too much, and flipped my head back to look in the mirror. I gasped in horror- my hair looked as if I had just sprayed it with sunflower oil- yuk. As a result I had to re-wash my hair which made me late for my night out so I was pretty annoyed with this product. Why oh why don't manufacturers realise that if you're buying a hair thickener the chances are that your hair is fine so you don't need a heavy product that will weigh it down and make it look greasy.
Don't waste your money on this- chip fat will do exactly the same job!

I agree with Island Girl when she said that applying this allover to her long hair made it a tangled sticky mess. It did the same thing to my hair. But only applying it to the roots... and giving it a shot of a blowdryer... does add amazing volume... albeit sticky... and.. filmy. This is one of those products that has so much buildup that you cannot do anything with your hair after you apply it the first time.. so you would definately have to wash your hair and style or reapply it the next day. I tried to apply this stuff right after I had taken a shower and dried my hair... my hair looked great... but by that night it felt sticky and gooked up.. and the next morning, there was no way I would be able to do anything with it without washing it out and starting over. Great for people who wash their hair daily. ( I usually wash mine every 2 days). This product does contain silicones.. for those who like to know which products do.
This cost 13.95 at the hair salon for a 4.4 oz can. The dispenser does like to clog on occasion but is easily restored. I dont think I would purchase this again, I could probably find something cheaper that does the same thing... but I am marking it that I would buy it again.... just in case.

This stuff if perfect for what I need it for. I want my hair to have a textured feel to it so when I decide to tease my hair to give that poof in the back, it will stay. I only use this at the crown for this reason. I also use it in conjunction with the What a Tease spray to give me that sexy 60's hair look that I am rocking out lately. I tried spraying this all over my hair as directed but it made my long hair a big tangled sticky mess. From now on its only for the crown.

I bought this product about a year or so ago to create volume. At that time I had a medium length layered bob. It's now in a longer version, to the shoulders and kind of shaggy. I have tried everything to put some volume back into my hair, to create just what the name says: "Big Sexy Hair".
It definitely did the trick. However, the downside is what brings back the memory of why I didn't continue using the product: It has by far the most awful smell when spraying it. I actually gag and run out of the bathroom! The good thing: the stink leaves quickly and I am left with very voluminous hair.
I would have rated it a 5 but the aroma is sickening, for real.

I am in LOVE with this product. I have yet to figure out why the directions say to flip your head over, spray, and scrunch...but whatever. I have fine hair and this adds amazing volume. I actually do flip my head over and spray it. I blow dry it for just a second running my fingers through my hair so it dries quickly. This does give me lots of volume. I've found that this is the best styling product ever for teasing hair. It really holds and it makes my hair thicker. It is kind of drying but that enables me to restyle for like three or four days. No kidding. This product seems to just eradicate greasy hair.

I actually love this product for certain uses. I think it works absolutely fantastically if you have fine hair that tends to get static-ie. Just a LIGHT spray over and a little bit of brushing and all your static fly-away's are gone. Also works great for the sexy beach hair style. Put your hair in rollers or use a larger barrel curling iron and then spray. Tease a wee bit and you have britney spears in a music video hair. Or you can follow the instructions on the can, but it's just not what i use it for. I love it's multiple uses on different types of hair (also works great on short styles) so if you're a hair stylist its a definite good buy. I call it a spray pomade. The downside for me if the smell. It really is awful. Luckily it seems to fade away and doesnt leave the hair smelling that way so maybe its just the can or whatever but i actually apologize to my clients i use it on and say i promise they'll get a great result. haha.

When I first tried it following the instructions my hair seemed greasy and waxy and I immediately headed back to the store to return it BUT on my way after about 3 minutes my hair was suddenly AMAZING, and it seemed in great condition and the greasiness and waxiness vanished like magic. I've always had difficult to style hair because it is so straight and thin (from all the hair colour, bleach etc) and it falls flat and lets not forget the fly aways and frizz I get but this product made my hair bigger with more volume, AND it looked and felt healthier and my good hair day lasted most of the day (remember my hair has a tendency to fall completely flat). I absolutely love this and I'm so happy I stumbled upon it. I've been using it a few days in a row now and I love it and on the days I do not use my hair just doesn't turn out as good.
Hope this helps.

I got this on "clearance" at my local hair salon. Now I know why it was on clearance. This stuff was AWFUL!! I would've rated it a -1 if I could, it was that bad. I have fine, long hair that is medium density. I followed its directions. I tried a little, I tried a lot. It made my hair super greasy, heavy and nasty. My husband and I were going out one day and I used this before I left. I actually had to stop getting ready and go wash my hair again before we went out. BLECH!!!

I reccomend this highly for people with short hair, especially if you're going for a spiky or tousled look. I liked the waxy texture of it, because it gave my hair a little bit of flexibility, but my style still held. If I ever cut my hair again, I'll definitely repurchase.

Maybe the other reviewers are missing the point of the product...the spray is supposed to make your hair stiff so it will hold the volume then you are supposed to style your hair...not just leave it (of course your hair would look like a big mess)! Also...only use a small amount or it will make your hair feel waxy. Anyway, it does the trick for creating major volume in my stacked, angled bob style. I'm quite glad I stumbled upon this product!
