The first time I tried on Sheer Plum (in a department store with artificial lighting) I thought I finally found the elusive HG, YLBMB lipstick. Under the reality of what is called natural light I finally saw Sheer Plum for what it really is, a sheer reddish orange brown that made my teeth look yellowish. Although sheer plum is pretty it is definitely not MLBB.

The most gorgeous chocolate, rouge red berry shade of lipstick ever! It's sheer and it covers well at the same time. It's definitely one of my favorites.

"Sheer Plum" is quite a misleading name since the lipstick looks like a brown-red in its case, and a sheer brown-red on my lips. I find the lustre version to be slightly sheerer than the original version, and more moisturizing (a very good thing!). it instantly brightens up my face and gives it "oomph" without being too much. If i blot it after applying, it gives me a nice just-bitten lip color. And if worn with a neutral blush, it gives a nice romantic, polished look. Rave!

This is my second MAC luster. I absolutely love this! it is perfect for the fall. It is a rich berry/red/brown. I love love love this. I love how it doesn't dry my lips out too! :)

I really liked this reformulation and teh color change, on me the old version looked too brick (yes--on me that happened with the OLD version), where as with this one which is more sheer the pink of my lips shows through and it's a great day or evening shade. Love this.

I agree with the previous 2 ladies in that this is more of a sheer red than a sheer plum color. It's natural for everyday wear, but nothing special. :P

On me this was not sheer at all. It is a dark reddish plum that looks far too harsh on my C2 complexion. I was hoping that it would be more sheer and have a bit of mauve in it. Thumbs down from me on this one.

This is a reformulation of MAC's existing Sheer Plum shade, which was (obviously :P) a sheer. I swappd away my old Sheer Plum because I got tired of it, but I really like the colour in this new formulation. It's much more pigmented than the sheer version, very glossy, very moisturizing. However, if you're a fan of the original sheer lipstick, you probably won't like this one--quite different. It's more of a brick red (on me, Asian MMM) than a plum. Very 40s look when paired with smokey eyes.
