I sometimes get the odd cystic type spot on my jawline. I know from experience these turn into large lumps and I have to wait days for them to go. This product is ideal in shrinking them and speeding up the healing process. It works on other spots too but I find I can normally zap those with just a dab of tea tree oil or other healing oils. It is expensive and not practical to use on more than a couple of zits at a time but I find it lasts around a year so it is totally worth it. And it doesn't totally dry out the skin.

This was recommended to me a while back & at the time I was using superdefense so I thought I'd give this a go. It did not go well with my skin. It stung for quite some time even after I washed my face off! It also dried out my skin and I just felt it was way to concentrated for my liking. I have heard others loving the stuff though so its prob just not suited for my skin type.

First-off, I love anything mini, and I'm a sucker for any product that fits into the neutral/turquoise color scheme I've stolen from Anthropologie and applied to my bathroom. So I admit I initially bought this stuff because of how cute it would be next to my soaps and potions and other things taking up real estate on my counter. Looks aside, this stuff works really well and I would buy it again, here we go:

The Good: I have super dry skin and if I even think about exfoliating, my skin bursts into splotchy red eczema patches. Therefore, my pores are constantly clogged by my dragon scales and that combined with the stress of grad school makes for some epic pus-pots on my chin and cheeks. Clinique's Acne Spot Gel (ASG) reduces any pimple I have by 50% after the first two applications. It also helps significantly with redness. Within the 4th or 5th application, my spot is gone and I can resume looking like 26-year-old instead of my former 13-year-old self. My husband is a life-long clearasil devotee with oily skin / fair complexion. I've caught him applying ASG and he didn't even seem to notice when I threw out his Clearasil spot remover. His skin is now smoother than his pick-up lines ( he has zero game).

The Bad: It's expensive, but it works better than any drugstore spot healer I've tried. It pisses my dry skin off to no end, so I have to be super careful to only get it directly on my spot or the surrounding skin shrivels up. There may be another spot healer that works faster than 4-5 applications (twice daily), but I have yet to find one. Recommendations are appreciated!

I have dry skin with some random pimple (just during pms) that I really hate so I was looking for something that could help me and...this thingy does stop very well subcutaneous pimples if u use it immediately, when u see that a new one is coming up. I used it 4-5 times a day for 3 days on a subcutaneous one and it kept it small and allmost colorless...without this it would get red, big and hurt me...buuut for the ones that are already there it doesn't work very well. At least for me. Also, the thing that I hate about this is that dries out my skin even more so after having solved the pimple I had to scrub and hydrate that part A LOT...and when you apply it, in just 30 minutes it creates a thin pellicle that you have to remove before using it again because otherwise it won't get to the pimple very well. However, I guess this would work very well for oily skin. You don't need so much so I'm pretty sure it could last for a year or even more. All in all, not bad but I won't buy it again because before it I used one from Afrodita cosmetics (a Slovenian cosmetic brand) which was MUCH cheaper and worked better. Too bad I have to wait to this summer to buy it cause it not available in northern Europe.

I break out in a small section on my chin, mostly due to stress or hormones. As an adult it has become less frequent but when it happens, it is a HAPPENING. With benzoyl peroxide spot treatments my skin wil be like "Oh no you DIDN'T" and flare up even harder. This salicylic acid-based gel isn't a magic wand or anything, and it takes a little finesse to work with, but it is effective. I have used it with and without the 3-step system, and it works either way. (I have also undergone some desperate experiments: smushing it onto a popped zit, applying it just after my toner, reapplying several times a day -- it does NOT work best this way. The smell is pretty violent but that doesn't mean you need to use it violently). Everyone's skin is different but if yours is like mine, the most important tip I can offer is to complete your normal cleansing routine and let your moisturizer totally soak in before use ... Any earlier in the process and it causes a crusty or short-lived reaction. It doesn't get rid of everything overnight but it will reduce redness pretty quickly. Be patient, use concealer, and stop touching it ... In a few days this stuff will get the job done.

I started using this product 2 years ago and stopped ever since all my pimples cleared up. Using the anti-blemish 3 step products with frequent application of the gel, my face was totally free of acne scars and pimples. However when I switched to their normal 3 step, the pimples came back so it sets me thinking whether the gel plays a major role in healing my acne. After 2 years, due to current hormonal imbalance, I start to develop adult acne. The gel really helps lighten the acne scar but takes awhile to see the effects. Different from others, I love how it stings my acne when I applied it on. It feels like the product is penetrating and attacking the pimple which makes me feel that the product is working. As of now, I apply it only at early in the morning and before bedtime. Maybe I should apply it several times a day to see it working. This product actually lasted me for more than 1 year despite using it daily. Though it is invisible upon application, I can still see a 'plastic-ky' looking patch on the area I applied on. It kinda bothers me when I put makeup and the patch was pretty noticeable to me. I would advise to use this when u are bare-faced on put it after makeup application.

One more thing to add: I bought the gel in my country which is different from the states. USA labelled it as acne solutions while my country, Singapore, named it anti-blemish solution. If I'm not wrong, the latter doesn't contain benzoyl peroxide while the acne solutions contains BP. This applies to their acne/anti-blemish range of products. I'm still contemplating whether to get it from my local counter once I run out of it and buy from the states because it's so much cheaper there. Definitely a re-buy for me.

When I first applied this gel, it stung a lot. But after a while, it calmed down and the redness around the pimple was reduced. Great product! I recommend it to those who have a few pimples.

Ive always had acne prone/ slight oily skin. when i went to sephora, i asked the sa for a spot treatment for my pimples and she immediately recommended me this one. It stings quite bad actually, but the effects were fast and great. my pimples started to dry out within 5 days! however, its quite drying, i recommend using a serum before applying. After i finished my first bottle, i went ahead to buy a second bottle. the weird thing is that, this second bottle seemed particularly strong or is it that i have now an allergy to the spot treatment; my skin started to form patches after applying it! it was also very itchy, it scared me to bits! i had to wash it off, calm my skin with ice and my serum. it lasted about 20minutes before my skin looked better and i could finally go out. if not i'd look like someone with huge chicken pox on her face. i now only apply the gel at night so nobody will see the patches. im not sure what happened, but as it still clears my pimple, i might repurchase a 3rd bottle.. or maybe switch up to Khiel's herbal blue acne spot treatment

One of the better spot treatment i have used. Dries out pimples fairly fast and reduced size and redness. However does dry out the skin and causes some marks after. Been using this for 2 years and will continue using.

I'm currently on my second bottle of this stuff and I don't understand how it doesn't have a higher rating...Sure, it takes a few days to kill off a spot, and it's not an overnight miracle product, but what is? It works really well for me, and for what it is it's pretty frickin' good. Will definitely repurchase this in the future.

Best product I've used for acne! I started to get cysts that would stay for weeks but with this it was gone within a week or less! It does dry out your skin and make it flake a bit but its totally worth it. Like many users have said it does sting for a bit, it lasted it a couple minutes but its tolerable. This is a hit or miss though it will work wonders for some people but it might make it worse for some. My cousin tried and it made her break out more. You should def. try it though and hopefully it works if not I'm sure Clinique accepts returns.

An absolutely horrible product! was recommended this as a spot treatment after i didn't enjoy the clarins one, and this was a huge disappointment. It just stung for a long LONG time (not 10 seconds like some reviews on here). It did however help with my acne spots, but only small ones. Big pimples would remain the same, and it would sometimes make them worse as it irritated the skin. It would also leave a film on my skin which was unpleasant and would be very noticeable in public. It was very drying, not only to the pimple but also the skin surrounding it. not recommended at all

I've been using this for over 2 years now and I'm on my...8th bottle lol. I love this stuff because I can use it under my makeup or alone heals acne (even the ones that are still under the skin!). This is one of my HG products and I use it everyday and even under the Proactiv refining mask at night. Great product. Recommend for anyone.

PS it does sting for the first 10 seconds, but nothing unbearable.

I bought the gel after getting such amazing results with the three-piece set. I like to apply spot treatments whenever I feel a pimple coming on. Also, I agree with another reviewer when she said that it definitely stings with a pimple is open. I don't know if it makes my acne heal faster (it seems to heal in the same time frame whether or not I apply the gel over it) or whatnot.

I will note that I like to layer treatments and 75% of the time, I will layer this under Proactiv's Refining Mask (which works wonders, btw).

_____________
Pros:
- lasts a long time even with considerable amount of use (bought mine last June and I'm almost out now in August)
Cons:
- stings with open pimple
- price- I don't think it's worth it!

The estee lauder counter girl recommended this as a pimple spot treatment O_O. It is fairly priced for a small bottle (15 mL) , but it lasts a long time. A little goes a long way. The packaging is sanitary and straight-forward and contains 1% salicylic acid. You are supposed to use this after cleansing and dab it on daily. It is a clear gel consistency and it feels cool when I put it on. After 10 seconds, it starts to sting badly for 20 seconds or so. It takes about 10 mins for it to dry to form some kind of gel paste. You can go over it with makeup. This didn't really do anything to my blemish besides drying up the skin around it....

I wanted to like this... but it doesn't do anything for drying out my pimples. It just creates a "film" over the pimple, but doesn't dry out or reduce the size of the breakouts. After using this for 3 or 4 days, my pimples are still there... with no difference in size whatsoever. I feel so disappointed. If you really want to get rid of zits, just get benzoyl peroxide. It works faster and it's cheaper than this.

I use lots of Clinique products, but this is actually the first one that made my spots worse instead of better. I experimented a lot with this product, because I really wanted to like it and make it work for me. In the end, it's best utilization was when I'd popped a whitehead to put it on to seal it so I got no nasty scabs, and that it did wonderfully. If I never popped it, when the film got taken off, it would sometimes even break and inflame the skin more! No improvement in the actual spot though.

It dries up pretty fast and completely clear, so I like that. The product lasted me a long time too, about six months. The packaging was nice, no complaints there. I just really wished it would have worked.

Have been using this product for 15+ years. Even though I'm in my early 40s, I still get an occasional pimple and this product has always worked for me. It never burns or leaves peeling, dry skin. There might be better cheaper, products out there, but I like the clean, simple packaging of this product and it works fairly quickly. It is the only Clinique product I've ever had luck with.
