I was looking for this exact color! Found it on ebay dirt cheap. I LOVE it! It is beautiful...It has a reddish-purplish hue. Not cheap looking but very rich, and color saturated. It's so classy. LOVE it! This color, i believe, has been discontinued so ebay is the only place it is to be found. A shame, since it is such a pretty color!

What a beautiful, classy, rich color. Everyone described it perfectly - like a glass of good bordeaux with a twinge of purple when the light hits it.
It is a beautiful contrast to my pale skin. I always wonder why when polishes are applied in salons they are never streaky. never had a polish that the tech had problems applying. So, of course, with a professional manicure it is smooth, shiny and perfect.
EDIT: I do have to agree that it is kind of easy to chip. After a prof manicure I usually go at least five days with no chips but with this polish there were tiny chips on sev fingers on day 3

This was not my first Essie, but for me it was a little disappointment. First of all the application wasn't easy - first coat was streaky and you easy mess what you have applied earlier with another strikes (normal application). Second minus is that it chip easily. I didn't do anything special ant it chipped second day! This was really too soon for that price (here is one Essie 9€ or almost 12$ at the moment!! - yes it's not cheap at all). The color is deep burgundy, on some light deep purple with gold tiny shimmer. Unfortunately most time is burgundy, I wish that it would be most time deep purple and just on some light burgundy. SV on some light is even a little brownish (probably cos of gold shimmer). Color is definitely mature, elegant, wintery (or fally), a classic. But I guess it's not crazy enough for me :). It would be better for my mom ;). I fall in love in swatch on local forum (made by Maestra) but this great color is really rarely to see when you wear it: http://www.shrani.si/f/11/aF/2Kzup5GK/swingvelvet-1.gif

Love this color. I had great coverage in just two coats. Looks shiny and fabulous when used with SV topcoat.

I love this color! It was my first Essie nail polish and I was definitely not disappointed. It, like other reviews have stated, is a dark burgundy-red with just a touch of purpleness. It's very classy and beautiful. It's a great pedicure color and, in my opinion, looks fantastic on medium-length fingernails. I literally wore just this color on my toes for 9 months straight last year. It's the first polish I've used up entirely (the only other one being Essie's Scarlett O'Hara, but that's another review), I loved it that much. It dried superquick; I personally find that Essie nail polish in general dries faster than other brands. I've recommended this over and over to friends.

This color has been waiting in the queue forever and finally I swatched it tonight. Wow, the color pops! As pretty as the color looks in the bottle, it's
a m a z i n g on.

The color is a bit on the warm side, but still pretty neutral. In the bottle there is a shimmer that seems to be very shimmery but the same color as Swing Velvet. It's a bit vampy, I agree with the reviewer three before me. It's a very very dark burgundy red with a hint of warmth. It's not blackenned, but it does sorta stay on the burgundy side of red. The shimmer is not really flashy or anything but it does sort of round out the color and make it appear kinda glowy. And I see a bit of gold in there although I didn't really notice in the bottle.

Surprisingly good application for Essie, which to me streaks a bit.

I really think anyone, pale, dark or yellow or pink, should be able to wear this. It was a big color about a year ago on MUA but I think a revival is due. I will take a pic tomorrow of this swatch in sun. PM me if you would like a pic (compared to Essie National Velvet).

A deep wine/burgundy shade with shimmer. It’s very dramatic and can be a bit too deep when my skin is pale, so when I want to tone it down, I layer a shade of pink underneath it. A great autumn color and looks great on toenails peeping out of pretty, black heels. Essie’s nail polish formula is great. It goes on smoothly, evening, and thinly so each coat dries quickly. I think I will pass up this shade, though in favor of Essie National Velvet.

This is an especially great color for fall/winter. It's a shimmery burgundy wine. In the sunlight, the underlying ruby red shimmer is visible. It's a deep, rich color that is beautiful with at least two coats.

I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. This is a wonderful, deep dark shimmery burgundy wine shade that looks wonderful against my cool-tone PPP skin.

Had to add thinner to my bottle because it sat on the back of the shelf all summer but, boy, is this hot or what?!? I bought this on a whim about 6 months ago and had never worn it. Silly me. This is a glowing, deep, shimmering dark purple/red. Can't rave enough and will definitely be getting a back-up bottle on this one. Gorgeous fall/winter color. A full five lippies.

Oh WOW. This color is amazing. I admit I have a weakness for deep, shimmery reds, but even at that, this is really special. Deep, dark, shimmering wine. Just gorgeous. I'm a PPP and I can pull this off on my tips for nighttime if I want a slight edge, or on my toes if I want to be classic. Just a beautiful, beautiful color.

First off, let me say that I am a PPP and usually only wear neutral pinks and sheer french shades like delicacy, ballet slipper, mademoiselle, etc.

I also usually prefer OPI over Essie, however for the holidays, nothing beats Swing Velvet. It matches my velvet dress perfectly - a deep red, brown with a glint of gold shimmer to it.

LOVE THIS SHADE!!

Update: After all this time I still LOVE this color and pray they do not d/c it.

I was shown this by a co-worker of a friend of mine. My nail salon has this color and I tried it the first time today and I love it. My hands are also between pale and a little warm and this color is nice. I needed to "go dark" since I always wear neutral colors. My next one is WICKED as another post shared...nice color as well.

This is a great universal red. I get very pale skin in the winter but love to wear red and this looks classy and does not look harsh against my pale skin. My mother who is tan year round wears it and it looks great on her too. An all time Essie favorite.

Great deep red/burgundy with a hint of shimmer for fall & winter. It's one of my favorite reds because it's a perfect balance between warm & cool. I have medium to dark skin tone. Many warm reds bring out the yellow undertone in my skin while some cool reds can look neon-like on me. However, Swing Velvet is just right & so elegant especially for a pedicure.

This is one of the best colors for me from the Essie line. This an Wicked are my two favorite colors I can't live without! :) This is a shimmery burgundy that looks good on practically everyone. Highly recommended!

Another great color from Essie! This one reminds me a bit of Chanel's famous Vamp - that very, very deep black-red color. Essie's Swing Velvet is similar, except it has shimmer in it, which when worn on the nails, gives the color more depth and doesn't look as severe. I bet this would look fantastic on toes, too! A must to compliment an all-black outfit. The staying power was really great, too, when used with a topcoat.
