They discountinued this. It went on nice because it was a mousse self tanner but once you start sweating it comes off and makes your skin look blochy. This self tanner would never stay on. It looked nice when you first put it on, but if any water touched you... IT WOULD MELT OFF MAKING YOUR SKIN LOOK BLOCHY!! Even if this was still on the shelf I would never buy it again, it even came off on my cloths. However, it is better than most self tanners that are lotions because unlike other self tanners, this can wash right off and it won't take a million years to get this stuff off your skin, it's very easy to scrub this off.
I disagree with the comment below... There are alot of new and improved mousse self tanners that are being sold at beauty supply stores and work like a charm!!

I've come to the conclusion there are no good at-home self tanners. I've tried many of them, and none will give you results like the TV commercials claim. Neutrogena is no different. The foam deposited color right away, so I could see where I applied and where I missed. It wouldn't matter anyway, because after applying where I missed, you could still see a darker streak. The next day, my legs (which is the only place I used it, since it was winter time) were brown. Not tan, not orange, brown. Ok, so now I have a problem. Lucky for me, it didn't last more than a day, because the tanner came right off in the shower. So much for long-lasting. Trust me ladies, go pro.

In my opinion neutrogena makes some of the worst sunless tanners out there. They are the orangest tanners I have tried, are often spotty and stink. They also rub off on clothes, don't last long, and wear off in weird patches.

I would not buy this again. The color is great the day that I put it on. However, right when I take a shower, the tan just washes right off. I can practically see all of the color going down the drain and I'm back to being pale white. Yeah it's great because it is fast and you get instant color unlike the other sunless tanning lotions like Jergens and Loreal, but this is not a great product if you want a long-term tan color.

I can't believe all the bad reviews - I swear by this stuff. I tend to break out on my chest and shoulders if I put a lotion-type self-tanner on and this doesn't do that. It's a little too drying for my legs, but works great for my upper half. I'm fair but use the dark or extra dark and it never looks orange on me. It smells gross, but most drugstore self-tanners do. Easy and fast to apply.

This stuff was always orange and streaky on me.. At one point I would just put it on my feet w/ a cotton ball (I was wearing flip flops w/ jeans & had pasty feet... so this is how i fixed it!) doing it that way gave me an even application but it was still orangy.

i use the untinted foam in deep, and it works quite well for me.
the foam is very easy to apply and dries quickly without giving me any streaks. unless i load it on, i do find that it takes a couple of times to see a deeper tan but that's generally the way it goes with self tanners.
my one other con would be that if used every night for a week straight it can tend to turn orangy, but if used for a couple of days, then every other night or so it turns out just fine !
a word of caution !!
do not. i repeat DO NOT use the instant bronzer one that has a tint. it is terrible and quite frankly, i do not know how that stuff could work for anyone. my boyfriends mother uses untinted in deep and it seemed to work well for her so i thought that i would give it a shot.
when i went to buy it they were out of that kind so i figured that i would just grab a bottle of the tinted kind for the mean while.
well, it goes on a mess and then continues to make a mess of anything that touches your body including your pj's, sheets, pillowcases, etc. it just rubs off like nobodies business and you look like an giant streaky oompa loompa until your shower the next morning.
its a complete waste of money, and a totally useless product.
but as for the untinted foam, i would say to give it a shot because it works just fine for me :)

I think this was the first self tanner I ever used, in 7th grade. I remember I had no idea what I was doing, and ended up a horrible orange, streaky mess. Well, 5 years later, it really isn't any better, even if I know what I am doing....It runs like crazy, is pretty much impossible to spread evenly, stains everything it comes in contact with, gives hardly any color, and when it finally dries is streaky. The only thing about it that is good is the fact that it doesn't have a strong self tanner scent. But other than that, it is just horrible. Now I know to never buy it again.

This is the best sunless tanner I've used since Bain de Soleil stopped making their sunless tanning foam. I have pretty pale skin but I use the Deep version - it gives me a natural looking dark tan and dries faster than any of the other brands I've used. I don't know why people try to put this on and then put nice clothes on and go out wearing it...while it's not overpowering, it's got that distinctive "sunless tanner" smell that you can't really describe. I've said it a million times - put it on AT NIGHT, wait for it to dry, then go to sleep and shower it off in the morning. I don't know if this is really a good product for beginners though - there isn't a tint to it so you dont know for sure if you've missed some spots. Make sure you're very thorough about getting it everywhere and rubbing it in well, and you won't have any problems with it.

This would be the best self tanner I have tried. I agree 100% with Swampbird's review.
As this is a foam, I find that it goes on completely streak free - not a streak or a discolouration or a colour grab area of skin in sight!! As it's a lovely light foam its easy to apply and rubs in completely - no greasiness, or worrying that I havent applied it properly - this product seems to just go onto the skin, with no streaks or colour grab at all.
The colour is a lovely natural tan, not orangey. Wears off naturally, doesnt have that colour pilling effect that some other do when theyre wearing off.
Due to the streak free effect, this tan is completley natural looking, no tell tale signs of being a fake.
I will buy this again for next summer.

Horrible product. Even 8 hours after drying, it was rubbing THROUGH my white shirt and showing up as streaky stains on the fabric! My friend used it, went to a bar, and within minutes, it was dripping down the inside sides of her tank top, as if she had yellowish armpit sweat. I've used so many STs and for some reason, this one is the WORST!

I feel like you have to manipulate all Neutrogena self tanners to have them work for you. I have repurchased this one, and will always have it to fall back on, but the application is really a pain. You can NOT put this on and get wet, expecting it to stay. For me, I put this on the night before, sleep with it on (and I am able to use it on my face without breaking out..also, it may temporarily stain your sheets, bu8t it washes out). Then in the morning, I wake up and wash my face(or whatever part of me I have used this on...usually my face, neck, shoulders) and most of it washes off, but leaves behind a really nice subtle color. I am so pale that I normally look sick, but this really gives me a nice subtle color. The first time I ever used this I applied it and went to a water parrk 3 hours later(BIG MISTAKE!! It almost all washed off!!). Anyways, this stuff is really nice, but the application process is a huge pain, which is why I deducted 2 lippies. Sometimes I wish this were darker too, but I know I can count on it to give me very subtle, streak free color.

Very bizarre - can a self-tanner actually make you paler than you were? I had been using Jergins Daily Moisturizer + self tanner, but the first time I showered after using the Neutrogena foam in Deep Dark, my entire tan rolled off on my towel. That has never happened to me before. The only thing I can think of is that maybe for some reason, the Neutrogena adheared to the Jergins and pulled it off my skin. I don't know if that makes sense. Anyway, besides the fact that it un-tanned me, the color was pretty yellowy.

Not the worst; not the best. The foam is easier to work with than gel but not as easy as spray. It does dry fairly quickly on the skin but the color is extremely subtle- it doesn't even seem worth the application time. What I consider the worst part is the awful smell that it makes a few hours after application. All sunless tanners have an odor but this one is nauseating, at least when mixed with my body chemistry. The search for a good self-tanner continues!

I just got this brand, skeptically I must add. I've only tried a self-tanner once before and turned completely orange (L'Oreal Sublime Bronze). I've used the Neutrogena self tanning foam (Deep, untinted kind) twice now, yesterday and this morning, and I'm looking great!! No orange undertones at all. I have dark blond hair, bluish-green eyes and medium skin. I found the foam is really easy to apply (contrary to what a lot of people have said here), and it dries nicely in just a couple of minutes. The one 'lipstick' I deducted is because after 2 applications my tan is subtle, although developing nicely. I'm sure there are other products that work faster, but hey, if I'm not orange I'm not complaining!!! I'll definitely use this product again and again!! :)
UPDATE: After 5 nights of applying this product, the color is still VERY subtle. I'm hanging on to hope that it will get darker, but a this point, I'm not sure.

this is my HG self-tanner, and i've tried tons! the key is the light, watery "foam" consistency -- very quick & easy to apply/blend, dries almost instantly, and doesn't feel greasy like lotion in the summertime (yuck!!). the color is very natural, and it never flakes off, just "disappears" gradually. speaking of color, i much prefer the untinted/clear version of this -- the one with the "bronzer" in it is disgusting and rubs off on everything. anyway, this is overall a great product. i've used up several bottles of it and will continue to purchase!

The worst! What a wast of money I purchased this to take on holiday. Not ony did I have to reapply everyday heavily only to achieve the slightest very light tan result, but when I had a shower most of it washed down the drain. It also rubbed of clothing and towels. Would never buy again

This is about the best sunless tanner I have tried thusfar. I like the consistency of it and prefer that it does not contain a bronzer/color indicator that would rub off on everything. It gives me a realistic looking, light-medium tan without streaking. Like all sunless tanners, my skin smells TERRIBLE after the color develops until I take a long shower with copious amounts of shower gel. If there is a sunless tanner out there that works as well as this and does not smell awful, I'll give it 5 lippies!

As far as tanners go you could do worse, but this is not my favorite. Its a very runny formula, so it spreads well but gets in between your fingers and in creases in your skin like your knees and feet and elbows. It made my feet look terrible. It also washes off very quickly. I shave my legs every day, so every day I would have to reapply the tanner. The color wasn't so very natural, but it was less orange than some I've tried. The bottle leaked when I put it on its side in a drawer, and it ended up staining the inside of the drawer. The smell was a lot less pungent than most tanners I have used. It came off when I went swimming in a clorinated pool, and a lot of tanners I have used didn't wash off in the pool. That kinda ruined the point of the tanner. It was good because it washed off my hands well and it blended well, and it wasn't streaky because it was tinted enough to see where it was going. Its a pretty decent tanner if you can overcome the annoyances of it.

Pretty nice product, I find. Easy to apply since you can see the tint. Smell is mild, I think. Takes a while to dry to point where clothes are safe from stains. Color looks natural and not streaky at all. Bottle leaks if not kept upright. I put Olay Radiance on top of elbows and knees to avoid overtanning them.
