I love this foundation so much. It is literally like a miracle to me I wish I had found it years go, I'm 18 and I have been suffering from hormonal acne for about 4 years, I got this for my birthday and have been wearing it for about 2 weeks and my skin has more a less completely cleared up. Although you have to apply quite alot, it doesn't matter because its minerals so you don't feel bad on your skin!

I'm on like jar # 5 or 6 of this. It was my HG when I lived in Chicago but down here in south Georgia it doesn't hold up in the heat. I use a primer but that just wards off the meltdown for maybe an hour or two.

This was my HG foundation for years. It looks so natural and the lightest shade in "fair" matched my super fair skin perfectly (which is difficult). I would get comments all the time on my "complection", and that I had such nice skin. No one noticed I was even wearing foundation. Coverage is amazing, especially combined with such a natural look, and at the end of the day it looked exactly like it did when I put it on in the morning. I have very sensitive skin and I never had any problems at all with this. However, since I got in to my 30s my skin has gotten much drier, and this foundation no longer works for me. My skin is just too dry to buff with powder. If you have dry skin, this probably wont work for you, but for all other skin types, I highly recommend it.

First of all, the salesperson at the bare mineral counter in Hong kong was very rude. I asked to try the color and recommended me another color that would match my skin tone. She showed me a color that is way too orange for me and I knew it already that it won't match my skin tone. I'm an NC37-40. The color that was shown to me was for an NC 42 - 44. I may be tan but not dark tan as I know that I'm an early to light tan skin tone. I had her tried on one part of my face and I told her that it looked very orange but she wouldn't admit it. In the end, she couldn't find a shade and she just walked away from me. That was very rude. Never again I would purchase anything from Bare Minerals or recommend the brand itself.

I know I am in the minority here, but Bare Minerals is the closest I have ever come to an HG foundation. Thankfully, I am not sensitive to the bismuth or mica in this. In fact, this is one of the few foundations I have tried (and I have tried many!) that does not break me out. Fair is a dead on perfect match for my skin and I always get compliments when I wear it. It gives me a glow that I miss if I use other foundations. My one gripe is that I do get very oily around 4 hours after putting this on if I don't wear a good setting powder with it. I alternate between MAC Blot and the BE pressed mineral veil. If I use a good setting powder I can get 8 hours before I have to reapply. Overall, great product for me.

I used to use this years ago, before I new anything really about makeup. Gosh this was awful stuff, it has mica in it, its why you'd get the silverish sheen look that even when u buffed and buffed your little heart away you just ended up looking worse (hehe kind of like the tin man with that silver sheen). Anyhow I ended up hating this stuff, mica in powders or anything really only emphasizes pores, so for people with enlarged pores like myself this stuff was downright horrid, I tend avoid anything now with mica in it or if it has it high up in the ingredient list.

I'll add to the chorus of '1 lipstick' folks. This stuff is awful!
I bought this product after a salesperson recommended it to me. I rarely fall for such scams, but...I must've been having an off day.
This powder has a pearly sheen which makes large pores look gigantic (!!!) and, in general, made my skin texture look awful (where it looks pretty smooth, even, and relatively good, with regular ol' foundation powders).
When will cosmetic companies learn than sheen + pores/wrinkles = terrible?
...Just, awful, awful stuff. Do not want.

I love applying this. It applies so easily and smoothly. My face looks like a dream when I first apply it - natural, not powdery, not oily. BUT it slides right off my super oily skin after only a couple hours, and oxidizes pretty badly as well. I go from gorgeous skin that I'm really impressed with to it melting off in these big blotches - I mean melting off very ungracefully and obviously. Soooooo disappointed. :( Like many things however, it could just be my awful skin.

I purchased the one for oily skin and it works wonders. I don't find myself reaching for my blotting tissues as much but it does break down during very hot weather. I have mild acne and it covers enough without looking heavy or cakey. It's healthy for your skin too !

I had a terrible allergic reaction to this. I would itch when in the sun or working out. It was the bismuth oxychloride in this. In addition, I looked very ghostly in pictures. I am light medium complected and was wearing the medium and it still didn't look like I had any color in pictures. BE was sold this past year to Shiseido and because of their animal testing policy (they are one of the only that still test because it's cheaper to the company to use animals instead of humans) and I liked that BE was an individually owned business prior to their sell. This coupled with the actual negatives of the foundation I will not purchase again.

I found Bare Escentuals to be a horrible foundation. I thought I would give it a try since everyone loved it, but it made my face look artifical and it almost had a glowing alien appearence to it!!! seriously, I put some of this on in the morning and mid morning I used the washroom at work and I was shocked what I looked like!! Under floursent lights this stuff glows! (not in a good way, in an alien way). I would not buy this again.

I love this foundation! The application is pretty foolproof and it gives you full coverage while still looking really natural. I wish they made some lighter shades because this oxidizes and makes me look a little orangey during the winter, but for the most part it's great! It does tend to get everywhere though...

I purchased this foundation because my bestfriend said it was her favourite, and her skin always looks so perfect. I then checked the reviews on MUA and saw most people said it sucked, so I was a bit hesitant to get it, but I got it anyway.
For reference, I am an NC25-35 with golden tones and normal/combo sensitive skin. I purchased Bare Minerals in Light which is a bit too dark for me when I'm an NC25 but okay when I'm an NC27-30. But anyway, the colour of Light is not that good for my golden tones tbh as it's a very yellowy orange colour...
Application is a little tricky as too much will result in the ultimate CAKE FACE. If I moisturize extremely well beforehand and only apply a light layer then it looks fine and actually pretty natural. But I can not build it up otherwise it gets cakey and looks very heavy on the skin. It feels lightweight and gives light-medium coverage. I have an uneven skintone and some redness, this cancels out any redness and evens out my skintone whilst still lettign the freckles on my nose show through.
I don't use a primer or setting powder ontop as this foundation does not get greasy/oily on my skin throughout the day. It gives a soft matte finish upon application and about 1-2 hours later, my face has a slight glow but no sign of actual oil. Lasting power is quite good, around 6 hours before I feel the need to blot.
There are hints of golden glimmers in this, which give a 'tin man' effect if you buff it in too much. It makes the face look very metallic and weird, so I can only get away with a light layer.
Like I mentioned before, I have very sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts from most foundations and powders. This foundation makes my skin itch like crazy (even when it's not hot and I'm not sweating) and just feels like there are bugs biting my face! IDK why they added the bismuth as a lot of people react to it...I got this mainly because of the minimal ingredients list, but the bismuth just messes up my skin.
Overall I think this foundation isn't that good for the price (8g of product is£23!)...the itchiness and irritation, the bad colour selection for light-medium golden tones like myself, the cakiness. I won't repurchase.

Lovely lovely foundation! I can't praise it enough. I've got very pale skin, and "Fair" matches it perfectly. Contrary to other reviews, I find that Bare Minerals gives fantastic coverage. The trick is in the application. If you use a concealer brush to apply it over blemishes, red areas etc, it covers them up brilliantly. Then you use the kabuki brush to cover the rest of your face, and blend it in. It feels really light, like you're wearing nothing at all, and it doesn't run or anything when your skin is oily. I actually wore this on my wedding day, which was a warm June - applied at around 12 noon over a primer, went to the Church, got married, had loads of photos taken (lots of bright flashes), went to the reception, got changed, went to evening reception (lots of drinking and dancing), went home, got changed again, got into a taxi, got onto a plane, and flew to Tunisia, without touching up my make-up once. When we reached our hotel room the next morning, it was still flawless, no word of a lie! The best thing is, you can supposedly sleep in it (although I wouldn't recommend it) it's that pure, so it doesn't affect my acne-prone skin :) the only thing I don't like is the price, it's pretty expensive, but you don't need to use loads of it, so I suppose it's pretty cost-effective anyway. Anyway, couldn't recommend this enough!

I wrote my original review too soon, so I must edit. At first I really liked this make up, but the more I wore it, the more it wore my face out. I have great skin that hardly ever breaks out, and usually only does because of some product I'm using, and this is one of those products that makes my skin break out, over a period of time. I don't sleep in my make up and wash it off at nights, use lotion before I put it on and after I wash it off, and my face was still very dry, and the make up started settling into my pores, which are small, but look huge with this make up in them.

The negative that comes with trying out so many cleansers, is that sadly sometimes my face reacts badly and combining a bad cleanser with my clarisonic leads to my face in hives. When this occurs I always go straight to my Bare Escentuals Mineral Foundation. It goes nicely onto the skin, feels light, covers imperfections, and is very buildable. The negatives with this product are that I find it is not very long wearing, and the packaging is Awful! I know they put the new sifters in, but still the idea of getting powder on my clothes (which i Always do) is very aggravating. Oh and if you have dry skin, make sure to moisturize before because if not you'll be looking like a shedding snake :/

I bought into the hype on this one. I have very oily skin, and this foundation has a strange unflattering sheen to it that accentuates every pore and line - even ones I didn't know I had! Being oily, I don't want my foundation to make me think I'm shiny before I even start to shine. After a couple of hours, it melted away, there was no staying power whatsoever. Worse yet, the lightest shade was still to yellow for my fair skin, so when it started melting off, it was streaking.
The loose powder just made a mess all over the bathroom counter. I'm not a big fan of cleaning as it is, so extra work is not appreciated! Several years after using this stuff I found GloMinerals mineral makeup, what a totally different experience! BE minerals can only be compared to the drugstore version of minerals, and the cheap stuff at that.

First of all, let me just say that it's REALLY rare for me to give any foundation 5 lippes, b/c w/ my problematic skin, foundation that works for me is really hard to come by. But this totally lived up to all the hype!
I'd been hearing about it for years, mostly in infomercials and such, and then I noticed a friend's skin was lookin pretty darn good, and she said she's been using BE foundation, and that I should give it a try.
I had previously been using Revlon's Colorstay foundation and loved the coverage and how long it lasted, but it felt a bit heavy on my face and although it hadnt caused any breakouts, i was worried that it might. So I was looking for something that looked more natural, but still had lots of coverage, wouldnt irritate my sensitive, acne-prone skin, and would last all day. And thats exactly what i got! i am soooo happy! wish i would have tried it way sooner!
I've read that a lot of other ppl were having reactions-- getting itching and breakouts-- but i havent experienced any of that and i have quite sensitive skin. One night without washing off regular liquid makeup would give me breakouts, for example.
as far as coverage goes, i apply a light buffing all over my face, and thats enough to even things out and cover some freckles and mild redness. (just for reference, i'm the "light" color, as light as it gets, and it has a slight pink undertone) then i go back with the concealer brush and re-cover the areas under my eyes, around my nose (where i get a lot of redness), and any breakouts i may have. at that point i'll admit that it does look a bit cakey, ut then i go over it with the mineral veil, and its perfect! the mineral veil evens everything out and gives my skin a nice "soft" look. after the veil i follow up with VERY LITTLE of the warmth in place of blush. since i'm so fair its easy to go overboard with the warmth and look brownish, so i have to be careful.
i got this as a set in the Sephora at Times Square in N.Y.C., and after the SA put it on me we walked around outside in the wind, etc for at least 7 hours or so, and when we got back to our room my makeup still looked fresh! Then i wore it the next day before we left to go on the 13 hour sdrive back home, and when i got home it still looked as good as when i'd first applied it, if not better!
I havent been using it all that long, just a few days, so I cant say for sure that it wont irritate my skin, but usually if something was going to cause me skin irritation it already would have at this point.
i will definately re-buy this in the future! i've found everything i needed in a foundation! =)
UPDATE
i just want to add that after wearing it more often, i realize that its a little too pink toned for me. i guess i'm 1 of the rare pale people who dont have pink undertones. soooo i'm going to probably try anothe rbrand of mineral makeup :)
UPDATE 11/5/11:
thought i would add in that lucy minerals foundation and silk naturals foundations are both amazing, you guys should check them out!

I really have GROWN to love this foundation, although i've had my problems with it. i bought the get started kit from a boutique. what some people don't reallize about bare minerals is that in film it can appear lighter than it is, so i was matched with a foundation that was too light for my skin and in photos i was horrified i looked like a ghost! also, i spent so much time trying to get coverage i didn't understand how the coverage of this worked. so i gave up on it, but every time i tried a liquid i hated the texture and it broke my skin out. so i slowly discovered how to make this foundation work for me, i got a slightly darker foundation, it still matches it just doesn't look too pale. i also now use a good moisturizer and the BE primer. i bought a good kabuki (not the BE, i don't like their brushes). now, it takes me two minutes to get my foundation and concealor on and get very nice coverage! primer, one capful layer of buffing on the foundation, one capful used with the concealor brush on problem areas, one capful and buffing of mineral veil that's it so quickly and as good coverage as mac foundation except more affordable (not much actual foundation used) and much better for my skin! not to mention a much better texture than any liquid foundation, the texture on skin is what makes bare minerals what it is. i'm set for life this foundation lasts forever!

This foundation looks good when you first apply it. However, if I start to sweat slightly, it would sting so bad that I feel like scratching my skin off. I have never had a similar reaction to any other kind of foundation that I've tried before. To add insult to injury, this stuff breaks me out after all the stinging. So this was definitely a waste of money.
