This just wasnt "dirty" enough for me. Didnt smell like dirt, but more like a forest after a rain, green and fresh. I dont go for fresh scents, so will swap my bottle.

This *really* does smell like dirt. Demeter fragrances are neat because most of them smell like the actual item they are attempting to replicate. The problem with this fragrance (and all Demeter fragrances in general) is that it lasts 2 seconds and then it disappears. I would not repurchase because of this.

This is my favourite Demeter fragrance so far. Like many others already mentioned, Dirt smells very earthy and fresh. It reminds me of dreamy autumn mornings when the soil is drenched in rain. A perfect balance between warm and cool. The scent is a bit linear on its own, but wonderful for layering, especially for rose scents and other florals. It ads some "dirt" and depth to the flower.

It smells like fresh potting soil. Exactly like it! I was hoping it would dry down to something that would smell earthy, but not like potting soil. It didn't on me.

I dunno... I love this stuff. Demeter scents never last long, but I think this is the perfect musky-sweet, unisex smell... not like dirt so much as, as some have said, the smell of a summer afternoon immediately after a rain. Don't knock it til you try it!

I detest this truly disgusting scent. It smells like mould and wet soil, the worst perfume I've ever tried. I think it's cool of Demeter to create a scent like this but the blend makes me sick, it makes my stomach turn inside out as soon as it climbs up my nostrils. Yuck!

This fragrance is amazing! A scent that ACTUALLY smells like the name.
Imagine, a sudden summer shower. Water pounding on the roof, it disappears as fast as it arrives. Slowly the sun comes out - the garden is wet & the worms wriggle their way out of the earth - wet dirt. That's EXACTLY the way it smells. It reminds me of playing in the wet garden as a kid!
The dirt scent lasted about 3 hours, and then turned into a soft patcouli fragrance!
Very much a novelty, but not enough to buy. I don't know if I want to smell like a wet shovel.

for me any patchouli = too much patchouli
at first it does smell just like fertile soil, kind of cool, different scent for those who like earthy, counterculturish scents. After an hour or so all that you can smell is the patchouli, which is the same old counterculture scent

Smells EXACTLY like moist potting soil! You would not know the differences between the two if you smelled them both with your eyes shut! If you like earthy scents you can't get much earthier then this (well maybe Earthworm). I've heard some people say it smells like patchouli, and I could see what they mean, but this is definitely potting soil. It too, along with Earthworm reminds me of gardening.
This would be great for men, and could be worn any time of the year. Like most Demeter's it disappears on the skin in 5 seconds, but if you spray it on your clothes it lasts hours.

An oxymoron comes to mind "clean dirt'. Demeter's Dirt is fertile, lush and earthy. wet dirt --- not dry dirt --- or sooty dirt. 'Cause there is a difference you know! I love it -- when I am feeling like a light patchouli but not a stanky one --- I reach for it. But if you want sexy dirt -- spray it on your man. Sex-ay -- Sex-ay -- Sex-ay! Enjoy!

I love this scent, but I don't think it smells that "dirty." To me it smells fresh and clean, but not like laundry or Lysol, but like being in the country, especially in the morning. Wish it smelled more dirty and earthy, but i guess that's what earthworm is for.
I have a 4 oz of this and I don't see being able to use this up EVER, so I don't think I will be repurchasing. Also, I do like earthworm better, but this is still a great scent.

It. Smells. Like. Dirt. I wear perfume so as not to smell dirty. Totally nasty, but at least it smells like the real thing. Why on earth would anyone walk around wanting to smell like this?

Its a very evocative scent. It takes me back to when I would take long walks in the country after a spring rain and the earth smelled so fresh. Dirt never smelled so clean!!!

Ewww this is the worst fragrance I have ever smelled. Why would anyone want to smell like dirt? Fragrance is suppose to freshen you up right? But to each it's own.

This smells just like fresh earthy dirt to me. I personally don't like how it smells on me (not very feminine) but I got my husband to spray it on himself combined with his cologne, and it smelled WONDERFUL. It added a little something extra to his cologne that just made me want to eat him up lol. It doesn't smell "dirty" at all to me, just warm and earthy. If my scatter brained husband would remember to wear it more, I would probably buy it for him again.

This really smells like dirt and that's just frightening. I would never wear this as a perfume again, but I can see why people would wear this as a clean fragrance. Demeter scents are really for nostalgic scent seekers out there!
