Good color for me to use as a brow powder. I use this almost every day and I really like it. It's very pigmented and has lasted me for years, really, I'm embarrased to say. Sometimes I use it as a liner as well.
I have no idea why they call this color "taupe". That's very misleading, since it's more of a warm medium brown.
I will repurchase if I ever run out.

Taupe is my daily shadow applied in the crease and outer lid over the Bone Cream Shadow. Very natural everyday shadow - actually a warm light brown. I'm a BB Warm Ivory with auburn hair.

As mentioned by countless other reviewers, this shade is not taupe; it is a warm, golden brown, which looks horrible on my cool skin. It makes my eyes look dirty and tired, as if bruised. Also, it makes my whole face glow orange-ish. Will definitely not buy again.

Taupe pulls slightly warm and peach on my lt-med Asian skintone, not exactly how I picture taupe. It's pretty for the spring and summer with light cheeks and a peachy-pinky lippie though. I prefer Wheat for a more taupe colored e/s.

I was impressed with the large size but these puppies are 20 bucks! I guess I was expecting better quailty. This is really standard shadow. My litmus test is application without primer to see how a shadow can stand on its own. This basically sucked in terms of blendability and didn't last long on my lid before it started to crease. Plus my eyes teared at the corners all day so I think it's also got some kind of adhesion problem. Also with regards to the packaging - there's no flip top so you have the lid flying around on the counter. I would not repurchase. P.S. Did I mention the color? Kind of standard mud brown.

This is HG material! this is the best eyeshadow very neutral yet still a flattering warm tone. Got it in a chocolate hued long palette. Only complaint is the packaging, broke eventually but that was about 6 months after buying.

I agree with the other reviewers on the color of this shadow. It is a matte medium brown, not too dark, and perfect for those days at work when you don't want to fuss over your eye makeup (heresy, I know!) but still look polished. Blends well, and the color remains true on me throughout the day. No problems with creasing, and I do not wear a primer! A simple, basic shadow that does it's job and doesn't demand attention. I don't mean it to sound dull, but some days you just need a workhorse--this is it.

well, this is a well pigmented medium brown color actually. Not really taupe so that's misleading. I've moved more towards using my MAC shadows as they apply a little lighter and it's easy to build them up. Though this BB is a lovely texture, I find that it just builds too quickly. I prefer some others that I have but this is a nice medium brown matte shadow.

Taupe, as others have stated, isn't taupe at all. It's a rather light brown shade. But it stays true on me, and I like it very much. It has some depth but isn't dark. It's interesting to me how different colors will appear differently on various skin tones. It must be frustrating when colors are right. But this one works for me, so I'm enjoying it.

As another reviewer mentioned, this also looked yellow/orange on my lids which wasn't flattering at all. I actually felt quite embarrassed having this shadow on when I went out with friends. I wanted a more basic brown, so eventually I found BB e/s in Tan to satisfy my tastes.

This is the only Bobbi Brown e/s I have given away. As mentioned in many reviews, this shade is not taupe. I found it to have too much pink. It did not look good on me, a ppp, as a lid and crease combo color. I was too dark, but not the right shade or dark enough to use as liner.

This is not taupe at all, since there's no discernible grey in it. It's more of a earthy tan, with a fairly yellow undertone. This has a pretty nice texture: matte but not chalky, soft and blendable without being too powdery. Great crease or lid color since there's no shimmer or shine at all. Can be very subtle and natural with a light application, or more (subtly) smoldering if you layer it on a bit. I like using this for a 'nude' smoky eye since I think the traditional black or gray tends to make me look tired and vampiric rather than sex kittenish. A good basic to have in your collection, especially if you look good in warm tones. It is rather expensive, though, and I'm fairly certain a lower-cost dupe can be found elsewhere (Stila's Puppy is close, though not a smidge less warm and MAC's Soba is also close, but slightly more yellow).

One of my favorite eyeshadows. It always looks right w/ eveything. I am a PPP and this is just enough color to look classic, but natural. The color is not really taupe - as there is not one spec of gray in this shadow. It is a wonderful soft matte baby brown color. Also makes a great eyeliner with a wet eyeliner brush and lasts all day. It is very natural looking, but it gives a great, soft dimension to the eye. No shimmer here whatsoever!

I absolutely love this shadow! Great basic everyday warm brown that goes with everything. This and sable are my go to brown shadows that never fail me. Taupe shadows look horrible on my skintone, yet I can wear this shadow-though honestly it doesn't look taupe at all to me because it is warmer toned. I agree with other reviewers that it was misnamed. This is a staple for me!

I love Bobbi Brown products but someone has GOT to fire the product namer there- unless of course, it's Bobbi Brown herself, in which case, a color/pigment class might be in order. This is not taupe - taupe is, by definition, grey-brown and BB Taupe eyeshadow is simply a mid-tone brown - a good description would be "wheat" but there is already another BB eyeshadow called "wheat" which is a light grey-brown - a taupe. Confused yet?

Inaccurate names aside, this is a great everyday shadow and perfect for contouring without adding too much color or being too dark. For a great neutral eye, I've used Bone as a highlight, the aforementioned Wheat shadow on the lid, and Taupe to contour the outer-V. I also like using this with Laura Mercier metallic creme eyeshadow in Platinum. No, BB Taupe is not an exciting or dramatic color but IMO, it's pretty unique b/c of the perfect balance of undertones. I'm warm toned but sometimes, anything too warm looks weird on my complexion, I need something a bit more cool to provide contrast. BB is outstanding for neutrals - some other lines' "neutrals" have strong red/yellow/blue/grey undertones and defeats the purpose of neutrality. A great staple in my bag, and I will repurchase when needed. For reference: NC30/Chanel Shell/GA 5, yellow-neutral, Asian.

I love BB eyeshadows but the name is very decieving on this one...not a taupe, more of a golden brown which turned very orange on me. Staying power is not great either. I have many BB e/s and this is my least fave. If you are searching for a taupe eyeshadow, her Fawn shimmerwash or Stone shimmerwash are gorgeous.

This is the only shadow I've found that compliments my eyes and my skin... I've probably tried about 5,000 so far (well, slight exaggeration!)... The formula is smooth and easy. There is virtually no waste (brush knock-off). It doesn't move around once it's on and been worn for the whole day. I don't use an eyeshadow base -- simply apply to lid and crease. It's not a true taupe; I believe the name is a misnomer. Taupe is more gray. This is a terrific middle-of-the-road brown.

Like the other reviewers, I too feel this is not actually a taupe, it is warmer. I was using this shadow for a while about a year ago, but wasn't loving it, so I just stashed it away, it just looked too blah, a bit too warm. Then, I pulled it out again a couple of weeks ago and started using it along with Prescritives Pongee shadow - oh wow, super! I've worn this combination everyday since. This, by the way, is the new Prescriptives Pongee color, not the old one I had reviewed, so it's available. Anyway, IMO, Pongee works better with Bobbi Brown Taupe than any of the other Bobbi Brown colors I have. I am loving BB Taupe as my staple neutral right now!

Taupe is one of my favorite BB e/s. I agree with previous reviewers, this e/s is misnamed; it really is much warmer than a true taupe. I love how it gives me a fresh, classic looked when paired with BB Bone e/s. It's a great everyday eye look. The texture is superb and it lasts all day without creasing. For reference, I am NC30 MMM, dk brown eyes, med. brown hair.

Ha, had to laugh at the reviewer below - don't know if Bobbi was smoking crack but someone sure was, this really is not taupe! It is a warm brown. I received this as a sample with my order, and I figured I'd give it a try but actually was pretty certain it wouldn't work because it is obviously warm-toned. Well, I ended up actually liking it - somehow it works. I don't know how it works with my coloring (light, blue eyes, dark brown hair, look best in neutrals to cools) but it just does. I'll pull it out if the mood strikes me for a warm eye scheme, I like it in the crease with Bone as my lid shade or sometimes MAC Shroom. I put down that I wouldn't repurchase just because I don't use this a lot and the pot will last me years. Quality is superb - silky smooth, blends like a dream.
