This fragrance is pretty--for the five minutes I can smell it. Honestly, tho, I can still smell a trace if I put my nose right up against my arm. However, like a little sillage.

Weightless, subtle almond/heliotrope scent with iris. Reminds me of Caron Farnesiana, but with less personality. Disappears almost immediately on my skin. I prefer Malle's L'Eau D'Hiver, which is along the same lines, but much longer-lasting and more unique.

I have tried many almond scents, and though I have liked a few, only one or two have been full bottle worthy for me. Jour de Fete is one. This is a wonderful almond scent, nothing baby-powderish here. The playdoh scent is tame. In fact, there's a deep resinous quality to it that smells similar to pipe tobacco on me. And surprisingly, the sillage is wonderful and it lasts for hours and hours. I have a full bottle from a swap and it's just in time--my decant is running out!

On me this is just baby powder. Nothing else.
Disappointing. Expected much more after reading the reviews here. Good I ordered the sample only.

Still adore Mure et Musc.

Linden seems to be one of L'Artisan's ever-present notes: I find it subtle and light in La Chasse aux Papillons, excessively overwhelming in L'été en douce (one of my saddest experiences with fragrance because, although lovely, it's way too similar to the wiping cloths I use to clean my house with, so I just can't bear to wear it). Well, I found linden here, too, and it's just perfect. It works magically in contrasting the almond note to become too sweet and cloying, especially because of the dangerous combination with vanilla.
So this fragrance will never become too confetti-like on your skin. It will retain a lovely freshness and "greenness" about it, which makes it just an amazing fragrance to wear all year long.

Wonderful fragrance, and the one that launched me into the niche fragrance market. Bitter, realistic almond with a green touch segueing into creamy, nutty vanilla. Sweet but not overly so, uncomplicated and quite lineair.
I have no longevity problems, my only complaint is that the almond stage doesn't last longer. The almond part is what's unique about this scent, vanilla I can get anywhere. Sprayed on fabric it holds for days.
I've just bought a fresh bottle, but after hearing it's being discontinued, I'm contemplating getting a backup. Seriously, stop that, guys.

I have been trying some heliotropes lately (Ava-Luxe's, Bourbon French's, Etro's and Lady Evangeline), and this reminds me a lot of Ava Luxe's, it has a similar wheat-nutty quality (while the nutty quality in for instance Etro Heliotrope and Lady Evangeline is more high-sweetened almond), but is a little more subtle and delicate, in fact it reminds me a bit of her Angel Face too, that one is more sheer and less edible than her Heliotrope. Jour de Fete is a lovely sweet - but not too sweet - and comforting scent, but I think it’s a lot to spend on a fragrance that has so close siblings with better staying power (though the staying power is not that bad) available in small sizes for much less costs. (I don’t use this kind of scents often). L’Artisans Bois Farine captures me more, and is a true masterpiece IMO, so if I buy a L’Artisan gourmand it will be that one.
UPDATE: Well this IS really fluffy and well whipped, as some MUAer have described it. It’s very comfortable, and perfect for true vanilla lover for days they need something lighter + for those liking lighter perfumes – and vanilla – like me. And the staying power is actully great - since it's not that strong it can be applied generously, and then it lasts a long time.

This is nummy - like a vanilla version of Bois Farine!! On first spray, it smells EXACTLY like Jordan almonds - fresh dry almonds with light vanilla coating. Seriously, just like an almond, NOT almond extract - yummy! Then, the almond disappears (awww), but it does leave behind the most fluffy vanilla-wheat scent that is just delicious! Really like Bois Farine with vanilla - totally delicious!! This is not overpowering and does fade quickly, but it's a nice, pleasant, you-smell-good (and not like a bottle of perfume) type fragrance. A winner in my book - yum!

Delicious, foody, gorgeous, cozy... it is all these things. Reminds me a lot of Lann Ael, but more elegantly done, less like breakfast and more like vanilla-scented silk or cashmere. Still, a lippie off because it absolutely does not last. I would love to roll in this for hours, but after about an hour it's just gone as if it had never been. For the price,I'd like a little more longevity. But it does work extremely well on my skin, just a lovely comfort scent without quite smelling like dessert. EDIT: Putting on a whole lot helps it last longer, plus I get a note that reminds me of nothing less than printer's ink. This is a good memory for me, but it's going to bug someone. Still, I want this FB.

This scent just doesn't seem to mesh with my chemistry - the almond is overly strong in the top, like straight almond extract. The vanilla comes across as a powdered sweet vanilla - not warm and cozy like I was hoping. I wish the almond were nuttier and the vanilla smoother.

I really wanted to like this, and the description sounds great, but I have to agree with Amykelly's review and her comment about the flea powder. When I was a kid my aunt had an Irish Setter that smelled just like this! I liked how the dog smelled then, but I can't get past that wearing it I must smell like I'm wearing that flea pwoder from the 70's. It's great for flea powder, but maybe not so good for perfume. If you've never experienced that particular flea powder and have no association to it, you may really like this unique scent. Try a sample first just to make sure.

Jour de Fete really does smell like Jordan almonds and wheat. It's a wonderful combination, even if it doesn't last long at all. There's only one little problem - it smells IDENTICAL to the flea products my family used on our dogs when I was growing up. It's 100% the same fragrance. If I could get past that association (the fleas, not the beloved dogs), I'd probably give it 5 lippies because it's a great comfort scent. As it is, I can't help but wonder if people around me are sniffing the air and thinking of flea powder.

I like it but it it's a little too doughy, a little smoke or wood would make it a keeper for me, since the almond & vanilla are real nice in this one.

This fragrance is one of my favorites; a dry, bittersweet scent that calms and soothes me. It sits in a bottle I lovingly retrieve from my dressing table on any given day and sniff...wishing I had worn it instead of whatever I happen to be wearing at the time. I've mentioned Jour de Fete in other fragrance reviews about almond and/or hay scents, because it deserves to be mentioned. There are many I love, but ultimately this one quietly and consistently remains close to the top of the list. Indeed, it was a day of celebration when I recieved my bottle. Now I've heard it's being discontinued (after hearing another favorite, Dzing!, is going as well), and I'm extremely disappointed. I'll have to purchase yet another backup bottle of a fragrance from L'artisan. I cannot continue to afford the moodiness and whims of the decision-makers of this company!

Ooooooo..... angel-food numminess. This is everything I've ever wanted a gourmand to be: light, airy, fluffy, well-whipped, subtle in its sweetness, and overwhelmed by egg whites! If egg whites had a scent... (hmmmm!)

I have yet to try any of the Demeter cake scents (other than Vanilla Cake Batter, which is a *wee* bit too buttery, but still a great gourmand); I can only HOPE they smell this lovely. Angel-food cake. I'm smitten.

A new interpretation of vanilla, sheer and balanced by the light bitterness of almonds to make the fragrance savoury and warm. The delicious fragrance evokes the sugared almond. This fragrance is truly a soft bitter crunch for everyday… let everyday be a celebration! Family : light vanilla. Blend : almond, wheat, vanilla.I ♥ Jour de Fete! The almond, vanilla, and wheat work so beautifully together. Sweet, but not heavily so. It is a lighter almond scent with a pronounce wheat note. So pretty and unique for it's sheer beauty and for it's lovely wheat note. Very light and fleeting but beautiful while it lasts.

I love jour de fete. It is very comforting scent which is very light. Just beautiful. I find it not sweet or cloying at all (but in general I love almond-vanilla gourmand scent). It's so unique. I love its weightlessness but wish that it has more staying power. It just disappears after 1-2 hrs. But still one of my HGs.
