I like this, but Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera Formula Alcohol-Free Toner is my favorite toner. I have combination/problem skin. I have sometimes in winter dry spots on my face but this toner helps a lot. It's cheap, only $7.64 for 355ml. I purchased this online by iherb dot com (they ship worldwide) and I can't live without Thayers toners. If you want anything from this site, I have a coupon code if you want order the first time: VIK284 and you have 5$ off.

this is for the Thayers Alcohol free toner Cucumber Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera formula. I wanted to try this as my skin does not do well with regular witch hazel, it makes my rosacea flare. I'm okay if I use this a couple times weekly, I love that it removes those little white bumps at the sides of my nose that I get on occasion and so I will continue to use it for that. If I use it to often my rosacea seems to flare so I use it only when necessary. My skin is dry, mature, sensitive, mild rosacea, not prone to break outs other than the type mentioned above. It does smell like cucumber, I'm okay with that, I like them, lol.

I like this product as a toner. It cleans out your face well, probably takes of f the excess makeup but I wouldn't know since I don't wear makeup.. :/ but anyways it refreshers your skin and leaves it feeling smooth and fresh. It's probably not ideal if you're trying to treat acne, because it won't do anything for that. But really great as a basic toner

This product is great. I use it when my skin has broken out and is very sensitive. It helps to calm down any inflammation, my skin feels cool and refreshed after using it. Sometimes if your skin care system is to strong full of salicylic acids, glycolic acid it can irritate the acne and make it worse...thats my opinion. Using gentle products when I break out works very well for me. This product works really well if you put tea tree oil on effected areas right after. Hope this helps :) ! This product would be very good for sensitive skin as well.

I was looking for a gentle alcohol-free toner and discovered Thayer's in the alcohol-free, fragrance-free version. Love it! It has aloe for a soothing feeling and does exactly what I need it to do: I use it mornings right after my shower to remove the last traces of shower soap and facial oil. If I'm not putting on foundation right away I also use the Thayer's again right before applying makeup. I use DHC Silky Cotton to apply; even though these are expensive, I cut them in half for applying toner and this works just fine. I don't like using cotton balls for anything except nail polish remover.

A nice non-irritating and hydrating toner. I really think this calmed my acne down. I use it to take off excess makeup after cleansing and to wake my face up in the morning. I'm just glad I found a toner that doesn't irritate or dry my skin out. The bottle leaks and doesn't pour out the right amount..

I've been using this, the Rose Petal and the Lavender alcohol free toners off and on
for years. I always clear my skin up while using it, then go
off it for something else out of curiosity and by being
sucked into whatever sales pitch for new products that usually fail me or leave me
spotty.

I think I prefer the Rose and
Lavender over this scent wise, though the Aloe really calms my skin. It's also has a
small amount of naturally occurring Salicylic acid, which my skin also loves (BHAs not
so much).
Anyway, this is calming, moisturizing and great for

clearing off makeup residue missed while cleansing. I wash my face, then tone with
this and let it air dry. Then I moisturize. I don't notice a sticky film or anything, though straight aloe gel can leave a film so maybe that's what's happening to those who notice?

My skin loves this. It is fantastic for daily use. I currently use this most of the week and a 1% Salicylic toner a couple times just to exfoliate chemically.

I like this toner. What can I really say about it, though? It's not harsh, and has no alcohol which is good. It takes off any remaining makeup that I may have left behind after washing my face, which is also good. It doesn't have the overly witch hazel-y scent... which is good. I don't have any complaints, really. The bottle does tend to leak, and I see I'm not the only one who noticed that... but that doesn't really bother me, tbh. It makes my face feel clean, and I haven't noticed the sticky feeling people talk about because I moisturize immediately after putting this on. I'll repurchase when I run out, which probably wont be for a while!

I use the Unscented Non-Alcohol Aloe Vera Witch Hazel. I have been using this product for well over a year. This is a great toner. After cleansing my skin, I soak product onto a cotton pad, and swipe over my face. It takes off any excess makeup leftover from cleansing. After continued use, I have noticed it helps to improve my T-zone pores, and help keep breakouts at bay (I stopped using this for approximately a month and noticed that these problems came back during this time period). This product is great for sensitive skin, does not sting, does not irritate, does not break you out. This product can be hard to find, not at any of my local drugstores, but have found at health food stores in the beauty department. Holy grail status, will continue to repurchase.

At first, I liked this product. I live in FL and work outdoors during the day, so I really hate to wear almost any kind of moisturizer and even have to pick my sunscreen really carefully as my skin is sensitive and acne prone, so with the heat and sweat almost anything is too heavy. The first day I used this after cleansing and didn't moisturize. I felt a little tacky but eventually it absorbed and I thought it was going to be great to give me the small amount of daytime moisture I was looking for. However, after continued use I realized I just really couldn't stand the tacky feel and while I normally have no oil issues, this definitely made me oilier. I also felt like this clogged my pores. Definitely did not leave that clean toner feeling (and yes, I normally use alcohol free toners).

At first I wasn't sure if this even did anyting for my skin but then I realized it really helped give my face extra hydration and kept my pores tight. So I don't think it is a crucial step but it is a nice one to have for dry yet breakout prone skin :)

This is the second Thayer's witch hazel variety I have tried (the first was the peach). I love this one even more and will definitely continue to purchase - although I do intend to try out the medicated superhazel next.

Pros:
Alcohol free - I have finished a bottle, using twice or more daily and experienced no dryness.
Effectively takes of my makeup. Though I don't think it would remove waterproof or particularly stubborn eye makeup.
No scent!
Like any witch hazel product, this helps immensely in keeping my skin clear and soothing it when it's red and irritated.

Cons:
Something about this alcohol-free formula causes this product no to go as far as other Thayer's products. It works great, but I feel like I have to apply A LOT more to my cotton ball to get it onto my face.
Also, it's a very simple product. While that is one thing that I love about it, it also means that I could mix aloe and undistilled witch hazel to make it myself quite easily and inexpensively.

I use the unscented version a couple times a week. It is very nice, not harsh at all, cleansing yet moisturizing. A little does go a long way, so even though it's pricier than most witch hazel brands, it's very long lasting. I even mix it with some bentonite clay powder and do a nice facial a couple times a month. Best thing, NO ALCOHOL. It's really hard to find a toner w/ out either isopropyl or denatured alcohol, which is drying and irritating to skin.

Very good basic toner. No harsh ingredients. I use the fragrance-free version. Love it! Rose petal one smells too strong. I love that this toner gets rid of flakey skin without being harsh. Aloe in this moisturizes my skin a little and preps my skin for retin-a.

It didn't do too much for my acne, but it kept my skin somewhat moisturized without it being too oily.

I have oily, very acneic skin. Natural cleansers of all kinds - creamy or gel - just kept leaving my skin feeling irritated and parched. So I decided I'd just cleanse my skin with witch hazel. Thayers was the only one I could find that was alcohol-free. I use the one with lavender since I love all things with lavender in it. I use cleanse my face with three cotton rounds drenched in this stuff. It removes most of the dirt. The aloe and vitamin E are soothing. But there's too much glycerin in this and it makes my skin feel sticky and that annoys me.

ETA (11/27/2009): I stopped using this on my face and now I use it on my scalp to get rid of build up. Very gentle and works like a charm.

I am currently using Retin-A and salicylic acid cleanser. These two products definitely makes my skin irritated. This toner is almost a god-send. I use this twice a day after cleansing, with a cotton pad, followed with hydrating serum and moisturizer. Is it a miracle product that will smooth away wrinkles and cure acne overnight? No. However, it really helps calm my skin from the dryness and purging of acne while I'm going through such an intense regimen, without worrying about pores getting clogged up. The ingredient list is simple, with great ingredients like aloe, grapefruit seed extract and vitamin E that can benefit skin in the long run. And of course, the witch hazel. I believe this is the best drugstore toner out there.

Ladies, keep this in the fridge, your pores will love you!
Edit: left my skin feeling like it had a film on it....broke out and switched to Dickinsons witch hazel, what a difference. My skin felt much cleaner and refreshed.
