This is for the bronze version but it's awesomeness is so huge, I will be buying the other colours!
If you've read my other reviews, you will have followed the maelstrom of my eye makeup experience since my Lasik surgery. Bye bye mascara, hello eyeliner. And this is the best of the bunch.
Originally, I started out playing with Joe Fresh eyeliners; see review. Why buy expensive until you know how to use something, right?
After 8 months, I can line my eyes without looking like a 4 year old so I decided to splurge and go play in the big leagues; this has been my favourite product thus far.

The Clarins eyeliner is quite long, about 30% longer than Joe Fresh. It has a nice gold cap on both ends and my beloved smudger on one end. I am one of those people who use the smudger; this is a deal breaker for me. Without it, I have to pack a stiff bristled brush to soften the line. So by having this right on the eyeliner, I save space in my bag. Points there.
Yes, this is pricey. Almost $30 Cdn; compared to the $3 Joe Fresh. But to me it is worth 10X the price. Aside from the nice packaging, the smudger and the longer length, it is the consistency of the product that has sold me.
It is creamy; it just glides onto my eyes. No pulling, tugging; it feels good! It doesn't squish or break, it sharpens up nicely, and has no odour.
The bronze colour is fantastic! Deep, yet a little shimmery. It dresses up my eyes, is a little more fun than basic brown, but isn't over the top. This makes my pale green eyes POP!
When I remove this at the end of the day, 10-12 hours later, there is some fading but it hasn't moved. For an evening out, I would probably retouch, but this easily gets me through my day.

I am now in the sisterhood of sensitive eyes. I watch my eye creams, and despair of ever again wearing mascara. But this eyeliner almost makes up for it. Looks good, feels luxe, no redness later. Love it!

Love this pencil. I had it in black and it has such a nice deep, rich colour. Its soft and creamy too so no tugging while putting it on. It doesn't smudge, lasts really long (couple of times I went to sleep without removing my liner - that was the only makeup I was wearing- it still looked lovely the next day. It had just faded and smudged a little bit!) Its waterproof too. What more can one want. It is quite expensive but the pencil lasts so long and is of such good quality that it is worth the amount. After I used up mine I decided to try Estee's double wear eye pencil which is equally good. I'll be getting more colours in this soon.

I have this in black and it never stays in place. I dont have watery eyes at all but this is my one racoon city product. And I am absolutely positive it is the waterproof!

So, I ran a little experiment with the different waterproof eyeliner pencils in my work place. I drew a line of each brand (Benefit, Smashbox, Clarins, Lancome) in black on my hand and sprayed my hand with some thermal water. I first dabbed the water off, to see if any of the lines were affected, then rubbed. I treated this experiment like a skeptic, assuming waterproof meant nothing and was just a gimmick (haha).

I found that the Clarins eyeliner stayed put the most, while the others faded from black to grey, if not faded almost completely. It stayed the darkest as well. I will admit, all of them lost their black-ness.

So at the end of the day, I decided to buy this eyeliner even though I didn't like the price tag on it (it's quite pricey), but it has not failed me once. It is the best water proof and it's my HG waterproof eyeliner. :) I hope my experiment helps you guys as well :D

I have very sensitive eyes and this does not turn my eyes red. I love this pencil! It stays on and on and on. It doesn't smudge or shrink your eyelid. Nice rich black. The water line stays pretty well but needs a touch up after 4 hours or so. My only complaint is sharpening. I seem to waste alot of pencil because of breakage during sharpening and have tried several different types of sharpeners, My other favorites are YSL and I use to love Shiseido's pencil and was heart broken when they were discontinued.

Clarins...I've used my one little black waterproof eyeliner pencil so it seems, for about a year. really, I shouldn't use any other. My weird right eye, (It is a lazy eye, and the lid droops) tends to transfer black eyeliner onto the upper lid with any other brand (except a couple of MAC pencils). This is the only non transferring black I've ever had luck with.

It goes on well on my lower lid (I wear my lower lid eyeliner next to eye to frame my eyes), and this stays put. Infact, if I keep it sharp, it applies like new every time. It is black black, it lasts forever, and I love it. Worth every penny.

C4 mac-green eyes. This is amazing!!I bought it few hours ago-shade 04-Turquise.I always have black on my warterline but last week the make up artist of clarins had a bronze strong eye and this unique colour on her waterline-she was amazing.
I could not sleep since then.Today i got it-makes my green eyes pop,it is not the smoothier but i do not have a problem, soft enough for me.Makes the shape of my eyes cat like.
This is my first make up buy from Clarins but i want to go and get a second one as a back up!I want to try the blushes also.
Has a sponge also for blending, but i will not use it since i got this pencil for my waterline-i would prefer a sharpener like chanel~s.

This is the best eyeliner I've found in the price range I am now willing to go up to! I've tried the gel liners (MAC, Bobby Brown) and found that they gave me panda eyes part way through the day - although this could be because I am getting older and using more moisturising products under my eye! But this clarins one is really good and stays put although later in the evening if I have to quickly pop out I sometimes need to run a cotton bud under each eye to remove a slight residue - but then I've had it on over 12 hours!

Pros:

Once applied, it will last.
TRULY waterproof (at the end of my b-day at the water park, this was STILL there, not 100%, but a nice 85% almost)
True to colour

Cons
It TUGS when applied to the lid (esp upper lid)
Sponge is useful, but not with the pencil

Conclusion: As I now tend to creamier eyeliners, I just use this for my waterline/tightline. Very nice and long-lasting for that, but harsh on the lid. Won't repurchase as it will last me for ages.

This is the best pencil eyeliner I've used. The long pencil makes it affordable and the smudger on the end is really practical.
I like the packaging, but sometimes I get annoyed over that the cap on the smudge end is a tad bigger, others time I find it good because you don't have to guess what's under the cap.
This one is pretty black. Not as black as MAC smolder, but blacker than UD24/7. Does tug a tiny bit on the skin.
It's easy to sharpen and the tip becomes very crisp.
According to the package, you can have it in 36 months before tossing it.

The staying power is awesome, my earlier favorite was Urban Decays 24/7, but compared to Clarins... It's not that special.

So far my HG eyeliner pencil. I had almost given up on hope...But then I found this, the SA recommended it when I was searching for a waterproof eyeliner pencil and thank goodness I bought it! This goes on so smoothly, so velvety, almost creamy..And the color (I have this in black) is so rich and pigmented. The best part about this pencil is that it stays like no other I've tried. It doesn't stay on 100% perfect but still, the best I've tried so far. If you layer the line you drew with some black eyeshadow, it lasts even longer. The packaging is nice and it comes with a smudge tip too, though I rarely use it. The pen will take forever to use up so it doesn't matter that this costs a bit more than your regular drugstore pencil...because this actually works!! (For me at least :) )

I bought this in Plum (seeking to replace a Clinique pencil liner that had been discontinued years ago) and I was disappointed. As someone else noted, I found this hard to apply even when new (it has since dried out even more) and the "smudger" at the other end of the pencil was totally useless (unlike those on some Clinique liners and other, much cheaper eye pencils) - it was just too soft and floppy to smudge out anything at all, let alone a pencil that was this hard. I didn't really even need a waterproof pencil (but GOSH and Lise Watier make waterproof ones that are so much better and cost a lot less) but this was just an expensive disappointment.

This is a pricy pencil, but I love it. The colour is great! There aren't too many colour selections but good thing all the ones they have are the colours I like :D I dont like the pencil design I dont see why they cant make it a retractable liner. I hate sharpening it cuz everytime I do i'll have to sharpen some of the product away, it's just a waste especially with the price tag. but no smudging at all

This is the best black pencil I have ever used. It's hard to find black that doesn't wind up all over the place by the end of the day. This waterproof pencil stays on! The older version was much harder, but the newer pencil is very soft. The only negative thing I have to say is that due to the softness, I have to sharpen it frequently to have a finer point. Anyone who has had to tug at their lids with this pencil, needs to return it and get a new one. Intense black!

I have this in dark brown - plain colour, intense, dark, no shimmer.
I use a brown eyeliner daily to line my eyes...
I have to say, this is by far the best waterproof eye pencil I have ever tried! I was swearing by the Lancome eye pencil, although a bit on the soft side and the stying power was not 100% - but I was having a hard time finding it (prob. it is d/c) so I had to switch to another brand, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the Clarins pencils to be superior!
Tthe line is precise, the colour is deep, such a rich payoff! And the staying power is excellent: it stays put all day without any creasing or smudging whatsoever.
Incredible, I wore this without eyshadow - and in this case you notice on the spot if the line smudges or melts, and really it was a fine line all day.
This is an excellent product, believe me.

The colors don't fade, they last all day, but they smudge and transfer unless I top-set with eye shadow. I don't like the plastic casing. It makes it so much harder to sharpen than the regular Eye Pencils. Its really hard to get a precise point for fine lining. And the tip mushes and crumbles the sharpener and a lot is wasted.

COLORS:
01 BLACK - true jet black - dramatic intense jet black, smooth, lasting - tip crumbles so its hard to get a point when sharpening (I had two like that)
02 BRONZE - reddish medium brown - makes eyes look red - dry and tugs - try Clarins Eye Pencil in 02 Brown (non waterproof) for less reddish shade
03 VIOLET - Muddy dirty purple - makes eyes look red - dry and tugs
04 TURQUOISE - aqua with fine silver shimmers - creamy and smooth, lasting

Great stay put eyeliners (that also don't irritate my sensitive eyelids):
Napoleon Perdis CAKE Eyeliners
Smashbox Cream Liners

Other good eyeliners (also non irritating):
Living Nature eye pencil
Clarins Eye Pencil - wooden pencil, easy to sharpen to a point.
Revlon Matte Eyeliner - creamy and smooth, intense non-fading, rich velvety looking color
Model Co - Black 01 is super intense smutty true jet black.
Shiseido Moisture Mist - intense black with a bluish undertone

The color selection for these eyeliners is pretty good - I have three colors - one is a turquoise, one is called violet and one is called plum - the colors are quite nice and the eyeliner is true to color- I do however fine these liners to be a little hard - i'm used to smoother liners - and I find that these can drag or pull on my lids a little - which I was suprised about because I usually find clarins quality to be really good - I don't think I would buy them again because they are a little expensive considering they weren't as smooth as I would like them to be. Maybe I would consider buying them again if there was a color that Clarins made that I couldn't find anywhere else.
