Woody Sandalwood oil applies smelling like soapy sandalwood, then dries down to smell like slightly sweet, powdery sandalwood and really nothing else. The wear is very good--it lasted me all day. Honestly, it was way too powdery for me, but it's good at what it does.

This is the BEST sandalwood scent out there, hands down. This does not have a patchouli scent as other reviewers have stated. They should have wandered a bit further on the shelf and sniffed the patchouli perfume oil available at the body shop. Very different scent.
This sandalwood is sweet, earthy, woody, leathery and warm. This has been the base element of a perfume that I blend myself and have worn daily for nearly 10 years. I get compliments on this all the time.
Blend this with a smidge of the body shop's patchouli and neroli/jasmine, it is divine! A drop on the hands and run through the hair--OMG.

I loved this in the past, and still appreciate its intense, warm patchouliness, but I can never wear it again as it holds an extreme and instantaneous scent-memory of a person and time I'd rather forget...too bad.

This smells like pure patchouli to me. A slightly different patchouli than the other Body Shop patchouli oil, but headshop patchouli nonetheless. Sandalwood is mild, gentle, and dry. It's difficult to smell it in this blend.

I first purchased Sandalwood over 10 years ago. This was my HG at one time as I love the smell of Sandalwood. Also, it's an inexpensive oil that's long lasting on your skin. Now, I prefer to have fragrances that have other notes along with the Sandalwood. So, for that reason I won't be repurchasing. However, if you're a lover of woody scents, do give this a try as it does smell wonderful.

So I'm just a dirty ol' hippy who likes nothing more than a bit of patchouli or sandalwood and this fragrance from The Body Shop is an absolute favourite.
On me, it starts out brightly woodsy and spicy, goes through a leathery phase with just a touch of soap (kind of like the world's hottest cowboy cleaning his saddle with manly cowboy soap) and ends up as my warm skin fresh out of the shower but better.
I've read lots of perfume reviews where people mention all the compliments they get from people on the scent they're wearing. Personally, I would be horrified if my perfume were strong enough for the people around me to smell. Unless, you know, they get really close, and yes, my boyfriend does love this fragrance.

Mmmm...I love this. I'm really into spicy, warm, woodsy smells, so I was instantly drawn to this! It does have a very faint "soapy clean" smell, but it's nothing to deter you from the rich spiciness it has to offer. It's pretty heady and it does smell like incense, but I adore it. Yum. xD

I used to love the smell of Opium. It had/has such a woodsy, spicy scent to it, that's almost sexy. I was going to break down and buy it again, but I have a ton of perfumes and recently purchased Gucci, which I love! But it isn't cheap! I didn't feel like spending a bunch more money on a fragrance I would only wear here and there. So after reading the reviews on The Body Shop Woody Sandalwood, I decided to give it a try! It is a very spicy, warm scent, almost masculine. When it is on you after a few moments, it seems to react to your body heat and becomes even better. I coulnd't stop smelling my wrist! I love it. A little goes a long way, so if you are sensitive to strong scents, use it sparingly. I feel very sexy when im wearing it and my husband LOVES it. I think he loves this one even more then my expensive Gucci! For the price you can't go wrong, if you are looking for a very exotic and sensual fragrance!

I always put some of this (and ananya) on me when i'm in TBS, but i've never actually bought it before (i'm not sure why).
I do love it though, smells like a woody exotic scent, and when I smell it with my eyes shut I feel myself in the desert with a cocktail in my hand... (lets not get carried away). It is a lovely smell and hopefully I'll actually buy it one day!
xx

I am not a big fan of sandalwood only fragrances but this one is excellent. Just a few drops and you smell in a heavenly way!
It makes me think about perfume oils in antique Greece... intense yet very feminine, very long lasting and with the softest, warmest dryout, with just a hint of vanilla.
I love it!

There are many different kinds of sandalwood. Many are soapy or cloyingly sweet or nose-searingly strong. Often sandalwood is sharp and masculine. Often you can't scrub it off fast enough (and never get rid of it) And it is used in the base of nearly every perfume you care to mention. It's historical and eternal. That being said, this version is one I can wear when most give me a headache or make my nose sort of throb unpleasantly. It's woody and incense-like and smells just a little bit like a bayberry Christmas candle. I can also see some people getting a plastic-edge. But I do love this one. Unfortunately, I think they've reformulated it. The bottle I sniffed in the shop the other day smells very different from the admittedly ten year old bottle on my shelf. (The level is very low: This troubles me. ) My old bottle smells very much like it did the day I bought it, or my memory is shot (also possible) Still, I may buy a new bottle just on the off chance that it will smell the same on. Maybe I can cook it down...

This is an oil, so it's potent, lasts well, and stays pretty close to the skin. All good things, as far as I'm concerned. The scent is androgynous-masculine to me, another thing I look for in a fragrance. Starts out very strong, sort of like sniffing a bar of sandalwood soap. Mellows out as you wear it, with the sandalwood and cedar becoming more prominent and a soft leathery note develops. The soap becomes more of an undertone that manages to make an otherwise very earthy, heavy, sexy perfume somewhat fresh. On me, at least. The Body Shop advertises it as having vanilla, which I'm not getting at all. But I guess it would basically be MAC's MV3 in oil form and for less money if I did. An while I'm on the topic, this is quite cheap for perfume. Good stuff for the price.

Almost 11 years ago my (then) fiance and I were walking around the mall. Money was tight and I brought him into The Body Shop to show him the perfume oil in Jasmine that I wanted but wouldn't buy. While there, I tried on Woody Sandalwood and we left the store to walk around a bit more and to have lunch in the food court. About an hour later we were walking together when a guy comes out of nowhere and exclaims, "What is that scent you're wearing? It's fantastic!" I was a little embarrassed and my fiance wanted to punch the guy out, but now 11 years later I have a 10 year old bottle of Jasmine sitting on my dresser barely made a dent in, a Satsuma oil perfume I bought a couple of years ago looking like it's had about the same amount of use, but no Woody Sandalwood. Many times I have gone to The Body Shop and tried it on, and not being impressed, walked out of the store. Next week for my birthday, I'm going to buy it. There must be something there I haven't seen, some mysterious quality I missed. I do like sandalwood scents, but this never seemed right for me. I stick with floral notes, the more exotic oriental fragrances are something my mother wears. But definitely after reading the reviews I feel I must try this, especially since I can afford it now easily.

When I first smelled this fragrance, I thought it was way too masculine for me...however, 4 months later after taking it out of my drawer again, I totally fell in love with it. I wear it mostly underneath other perfumes so it gives them a richer, spicier scent that no one else really has. I am totally in love with this fragrance and the price is excellent as well :)

Mmm love it. At first it seems very masculine - VERY! But after 20 or so minutes it softens to a sweet-woody-caramel-y smell. Very longlasting also. One of my favs.

This is my favorite TBS Perfume Oil...The Sandalwood oil is a powdery yet exotic woody fragrance that's rich, warm and comforting...it's not intoxicatingly strong or nauseously sweet at all (one of the reasons why i love it!)...u can wear this one everyday...it smells really expensive too! i feel like an arabian princess when i'm wearing this! one of my signature fragrances..this is a deeply sensual fragrance for me...it even borders on being erotic...more so because it's understated and smells very natural, it sorta blends with your own skin oils...i love that...like a reviewer wrote as well, i feel 'it's very me'....
it also lasts! i love it. love it. love it. i hope they never discontinue this fragrance!

Ok - this is a bit of an anomaly for me. I love sandalwood in lots of oriental fragrances, and this one smells really great too. I can see why some reviewers compare this to Obsession, Poison etc, it's a very complex fragrance (esp. for a fragrance oil by TBS) but somehow this scent doesn't work on me. It softens down alot after a while but remains woody and spicey. There's a sort of masculinity to this and it makes me feel mature and tired when I wear it. I am still giving it 4 lippies because it's wonderfully done and would probably blend well with the chemistry of other girls.

Youth Dew, Obsession, Chloe and Opium came to my mind when I first tried Woody Sandalwood. Just like those four fragrances WS is deep golden/brown, intense, warm and unique. But this perfume oil is a lot earthier. To me it smells like woods after rain, fresh roots and sweet spices. Maybe that's not the most flattering description of a fragrance, but it works for Woody Sandalwood and smells amazing. This is definitely my favourite TBS oil. It's one of those rich scents I can't help inhaling until I feel dizzy. I'm glad Woody Sandalwood doesn't smell anything like sandalwood-soap, (or any other type of soap- I hate soapy drydowns). Although it belongs to the family of earlier mentioned fragrances, WS still manages to be distinguishing and surprising. Don't overuse it though, a drop will do.
