I know some people love this shade but it hasn't been around for a while. But it's now available in a trio at Ulta, so if you've been looking for it for a few years, you can get it now! I uploaded a picture of the trio, and Chocolate is the darkest shade in that box.
Anyway, I got this trio because I had heard a lot about Stila Lip Glazes, but was unsure about the applicator and didn't know how much color payoff these had. In the tube, Chocolate is a milk-chocolate shade with some very tiny gold sparkles. I was worried it would be too muddy and brown on my skintone, but it actually is a nice sheer nude/brown that isn't too obvious or over the top. I wear this the most with purple and pink toned shadows, because I feel like the sheer brown color balances out those shades. The glitter is not noticeable on my lips.
I also like the chocolatey smell. I was expecting a sweet chocolate scent, but this is more a burnt chocolate, almost like a mocha scent. It's not the best smell ever, but I like it.
The applicator is the main reason I'd give this a 3.5 if I could. It takes about 6 clicks (2 at a time) to get enough product onto the brush to cover my lips. While I like that the shape of the brush allows for precise application, I hate the fact that it's left sticky with leftover gloss from your last use. I try to clean it after every use, but it's still left with sticky residue. Kinda gross.
The wear on this isn't so great either. I get 2.5-3.5 hours of wear with this before it's completely faded off. I know that's not too bad for a gloss, but most glosses I own hold up for 3-4 hours and often still have some leftover shine or color. I guess it's just because this is a thinner consistency...it's not runny, but it's not too thick or sticky either.
I'll definitely use this up, but I wouldn't repurchase. I'm excited to try the other shades I picked up, though!

I'm a GGG (NC42 in MAC) and this gives me the perfect glossy nude lip. I have reasonably pigmented lips. The dispenser is annoying (and has sanitation issues as well). I like the idea of a pen applicator, but it needs to be fine tuned. The color is fab tho.

As said below, the scent is sort of a baby powder chocolate scent and I don't like it. This would deter me from wearing it just by itself, but I am not a big fan of the colour either. It just doesn't do anything for me. It is a light chocolate colour, but definitely with more brown in it.

Would not repurchase it as I would like to explore other Lip Glazes that compliment me more.

wow, after reading the reviews here, two things are clear: this shade of lip glaze is YMMV, and stila lip glazes in general are YMMV. i for one love stila lip glazes in general, and even the click pen applicator doesn't bother me too much (although my favorite packaging of all forms of lipglaze is the quad/pan form--the doubles tubes and click pen are tied for me, with the doubles easier to apply but quicker to go bad b/c of contamination).
but this specific color is gorgeous on me, i love love love it!! it's a carmelly-brown that lets just enough of my natural lip shade through to give it life, and there's no orange tone to, well, give it death (as in BB honey lip gloss, which looked terrible on me). i swapped for a backup of this, used up my first one, and when i went to my backup it had gone bad! this was only sold in early/mid 2003, so it's already 2 years old, not unreasonable for a life span of a gloss. it still looks great on but smells very chemically, instead of chocolately (which i loved, contrary to many reviewers here). i'm saving the tube now to try to find a lookalike, as stila has no plans of rereleasing this shade. i am very, very sad, and if you ever find a lookalike, please page me!

I swapped for this and I'm actually grateful I didn't buy this when it was available in the set. I didn't rate this high even though I usually like the quality of Stila glazes. I think it starts with the baby powder chocolate scent. Unlike other glosses, this scent remains and keeps for quite a while. It's not appealing to me and I think this is the big drawback.

The colour is pigmented (woot) and it's a warm chocolate caramel colour. I wouldn't say it's a only a caramel colour because my pigmented lips did look closer to brown than a warm beige. Like other glosses, this did last a fairly long time on the lips. Overall, it's ok to swap for the one time but I would not buy it.

LOVE and HATE relationship with this darn lipgloss. Love it cause it does make my lips glossy for a moment. I HATE it cause of the smell. The caramelly-orange colour isn't bad but the overpowering chocolate-baby powder scent is quite obnoxious. I wish it didn't smell this way!

Despite the price, I generally like the quality of the Stila lip glazes. I got this one on eBay, but it was originally part of the Down With Love set. Most "nude lip" looks totally wash me out (a pink-toned pale blonde), but this one actually works for me. Though the chocolate scent is obviously fake, I still like it. It reminds me of scratch-and-sniff stickers from my youth.

I received this as a complimentary gift at a Stila event and I have to say I like it-despite that is is color which I wouldn't gravitate to if I were browsing all the colors. It goes on sheer but with enough color to punch up your lips and it looks really pretty! And I definitely smell the chocolate in it. I wouldn't buy it on its own but since it was a gift, I am enjoying it!

I really love this lipglaze, EXCEPT it doesn't smell like chocolate! The scent is more of cinnamon, to my nose. I love the colour, a sheer cocoa-nude that works great over Chanel Nude lip pencil. As always, the packaging is terrible and it's too expensive.

Looks super scary in tube, but goes on a nice sheer carmel. Smells like chocolate(obviosly), and has slight gold sparkles in it(hard to see unless in light, not very much either)

This looks like sort of a muddy mauve-brown in the tube, but it goes on a very neutral, cocoa-tinged nude colour. As the last review mentioned, it's very J.Lo. In fact, this is the only colour I can think of that actually defines that J.Lo lip so well! I can definitely see how this could look muddy on people with very pale skin, or practically colourless on those with darker skin, but on me, it works quite well. The scent is faintly chocolate, and pleasant without being overpowering. A decent shade - biggest drawback is its hideous price!

I'm on the fence about this one. It smells great(love love love the chocolate/vanilla smell), but it looks really scary in the tube, B-R-O-W-N, and I never would have tried it had it not come with the trio. On is another story... it's an awesome color on me, who knew??!!! A nice caramel nude (very J-Lo-esque), that really makes my skin look tan and healthy (LLL with freckles and blue eyes). However, although the shine stays put a long time, the color does not---it does a pretty fast disappearing act. But my biggest gripe is the amount! I'd say that Stila is charging the big bucks for the fancy applicator, but when I put it side-by-side with my Prestige Jetstream, it's IDENTICAL. I've always thought Stila's prices were decent for the amount and longevity of their products, but this is absurd. I can only hope they (or someone else) comes up with a color match for this. LOVED the trio it came with!!!!!

this color barely showed up on my lips, and the chocolatey smell/taste was rancid.

I just adore this lip glaze. Goes on very very sheer with a nice hint of color and smell. Very pleasant. Really really shiny & shimmery. I highly recommend.

Hoo hum color I'd say. On my somewhat pigmented lips, it goes on sheer brown/caramel color. It's o.k. with the whole look of Down with Love, but I wish it's a bit more pinkish.

On me this color is really "blah" it really doesn't add anything to my make-up and sort of drains any color from my face, just unflattering for my pp skin.

I absolutely love this color! I thought I would hate it because it looks so dark in the tube but on it is so subtle and really makes my lips look nice. Too bad it is limited edition.

I have to stock up on this. It is such a shame that Stila is not making this lipglaze part of the regular line. It looks dark in the tube, but it adds a very subtle peachy tint to lips w/ lots of shine. Love the smell & taste... yes, I am a chocolate freak!

I would buy this product again (as long as it was included in a set)! Really my first experience with a lipglaze and while I like it, with every applications I find myself saying "This use was $2." I thought about straining it through a screen goldminer style to see if I could find some precious metal in it or mounting it on a custom stand as a collector's item. Unfortunately, until Stila either gives out more product or something like this comes in a set again, I'll pass.

This looked so heinous I wasnt even about to attempt to try it out. Came in my Down with Love set. I can tell there is WAY too much grey in it for me and the smell is stinky. I cant imagine how bad the taste is. Yuck! Up for swap fresh out of the pacakge!
