I bought a banged up bottle of this at TJ Maxx, with its aerosol sprayer gone. Decanted it into another spray bottle and, since apparently this stuff was so old it'd lost its scent, I put in a little orange essential oil to make it smell nice. What the hell. Anyway, tried it this morning on my super fine, thin, straight hair and YES! Very very good. I was actually accused of having Big Hair. I've never had big hair in my life. This stuff is drying, but after drying and styling I just put a little conditioner between the palms of my hands and rubbed it in and all was good, as close to perfect as my hair will get. I didn't give a 5 rating just because of the combo of dryness and no scent. Hmm. Maybe I should give it a 5.

I have fine hair, and keep it short now - this stuff works better than any other of it's type that I have ever tried. I use it on towel dried hair, followed with a little bit of Redken's Align 12 straightening balm, wait till my hair is mostly dry, then hit it with the dryer, focusing on the roots. Use a round brush to style where needed, and it looks great....keeps my short shaggy hair full and sexy all day. Worth EVERY PENNY!!

Wow! Best volumizing product I've ever tried. I'm always trying new prodcuts claiming to bring flat hair to life: mousses, sprays, gels, etc. I have fine/thin hair and am a slave to teasing/backcombing just to get my hair to look normal. This stuff does stuff just what it says: adds fabulous body and texture. No need for teasing anymore. The best part about this product is I can be like a normal person and not have to wash my hair everyday, as it keeps oil at bay. Also, I found a huge bottle of this at TJ Maxx for $12.99. The only downside is it is slightly drying, my ends are starting to feel kinda crunchy.

Rusk Thick Body and Texture Amplifier is so fabulous! This is a must for people with fine/thin hair. It adds excellent volume and texture..Plus it smells great. I do use this with my favorite spray mousse, when I want extra fullness. It can be a bit drying so I don’t use this product every day, but absolutely for date nights!

I literally just bought this two days ago, but I can tell I already love it. I thought maybe it was just because I was so excited to use a styling product (I don't usually do anything beyond shampoo & conditioner...sometimes the occasional moroccan oil but I haven't noticed any difference with that). However, the reviews here confirm what I thought: this is a great product. My hair is very fine, though I have a medium amount of it. Because it's so fine, it often just seems to hang there...very limp. I am so excited -- this spray feels so natural, like there's nothing in my hair at all, but it kindaaa feels like I have a whole new head of hair. I have never felt the texture of my strands this thick. It gives my overall style oomph and body. I LOVE IT!

This review is for the SPRAY version and not for the gel. I don't have the same warm fuzzies for the gel that I have for the spray.
Ounce for ounce, this is the best thickening product (non-shampoo... the best thickening shampoo is Lush Big) I've ever used.
I have been using this product for about 15 years and I have been using thickeners for about 20 years. I have long, fine hair but I have a lot of fine hair so I need a good thickener. That is all to say that I have used A LOT of thickening products in my time.
This one is light, no greasy residue, has a non-offensive smell and is easy to find pretty much anywhere now. It used to be a salon only product but now you can grab it anywhere. It lasts a long time, you only use it on the roots, and isn't ridiculously priced. Often you can find it on clearance here or there.
It's a great stand-by product.

The best root lifter for my hair. Does not dry it out or make my hair feel like straw. Like using it with the thickr mousse. I cannot tell a different between this and the thickr version. They seem like the same product.

This product is a miracle worker for me. I have baby fine hair (although I have a lot of it) that lays quite flat on my head. Rusk Thick gives my hair texture, bounce, and definitely increases thickness in my opinion.
The best part about this product is that it feels TOTALLY natural in your hair. Almost every other volumizing or thickening product I've tried ultimately leaves my hair feeling either sticky, flaky, hardened like I used hairspray, or all of the above. NOT the case with this stuff at all! I also also love it because it seems to prevent my hair from getting oily. When I don't use this my hair will be oily by the time I come back from work at 5pm. For those of you that have naturally dry hair, you might find it makes your hair too dry. I use a really intense conditioner so my hair has not been damaged at all from using this product.

A friend recommended this product as her must have, so I thought I'd try it. She has baby fine, pin straight, chemically-treated hair and she loves this product, mainly for the texture it provides. I have fine hair as well and also chemically treated, but my hair is coarse (i.e. frizzy) and very dry. I tried this product and didn't apply much, even though the directions state to apply liberally. However, the small amount that I used was enough to make my hair feel like straw. As the day progressed, my forehead, scalp and neck became itchy and red. I had to wash it out as soon as I got home. This was unusual, normally I'm not overly sensitive to hair/ skin products. In addition, I like Rusk Mousse, so I wasn't expecting this type of reaction. Needless to say, for obvious reasons I would not purchase this product again.

I use this product everyday, but it works a whole lot better with their mouse/root lifter. It has a nice smell to it, and although it doesn't give too much volume, it does give more body to style. I do like that it doesn't make my hair at all oily and gross.

This is my current face, although I would love to find a really good root lifter. It does thicken, and when I spray it on my roots and blowdry upside down, I get some nice volume.

TEXTURE!!! This doesn't add all that much volume but it gives the *best* texture. This is how I always want my hair to look.
But you will still need a mousse or root booster for the top of your hair.

I bought Rusk's Thick spray because I couldn't find the product I was looking for and thought this sounded similar.
I have a layered bob and my hair hangs pretty flat without hair product. I like volume so I always use a mousse or volumizing spray.
The directions say to spray liberally throughout damp hair. I sprayed it all over, lifting sections and giving some sprays at the roots all over. I can definitely say this product is foolproof. A lot of thickeners leave my hair tacky or with an unpleasant film or texture even if I use a small amount. The Thick spray did a nice job of giving me volume at the roots without looking ridiculously poofy. Another benefit is it leaves hair with a really soft glossy shine and I noticed it did a great job of smoothing flyaways, which is a big issue I have in the winter. The scent is really pleasant and not overpowering.
I think this product would work for a range of hair thicknesses and textures. It doesn't feel like you have tons of product in your hair, even if you use a lot. Plus, the shine is a great bonus.
I'm quite happy having stumbled across this and getting such a nice result.

This makes my hair have volume. I have fine and limp hair and without some texture, it is dead. This is a product that adds some texture and volume without adding any greasy messes on it. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is a bit drying on the scalp.

This is the only thickening spray that works for me. It really thickens fine/limp locks. I find it works best to spray it fairly heavily on the roots when hair is almost completely dry. I then finish drying with hair dryer setting on warm. I wouldn't suggest anyone blast fine or thin hair with a hot dryer. Salons are always doing this and it just makes fine hair flatter and lifeless.

I have naturally coarse, wavy hair and when I use this product before I blow out my hair, I don't even need to use a flat iron. It leaves my hair soft, voluminous, and perfectly pretty. Amazing product!

This is my HG for adding volume to my hair. It is not sticky and does not seem to add build up quickly. I have been buying this for for two years and will always have a bottle of this on hand.

I bought the Rusk Thick volumizing spray and it is absolutely amazing. I have a lot of fine, straight hair and it has always been very limp and has had no movement or body. My hairstylist suggested I try this stuff and I have never in my life had so much volume in my hair. It truly seems like I have twice the amount of hair I had before. I've never been able to find a thickening spray that has made any difference and this one really does make a difference. It only cost me about $12.00 which isn't bad for salon quality products.
Also, my hair is very slippery and usually doesn't hold curl or hair accessories very well. This stuff adds texture and now my hair will hold curl, rubber bands, headbands, you name it.
It's awesome and if you want to get more volume in your hair, you need to buy this stuff.

I got this for super-cheap in the bargain bin at Cosmo Prof as my dd is a stylist. My hair is not thin but it is very fine. We both have short pixie-ish cuts, and normally use Aveda Phomollient, Confixor, or KMS Add Volume as a blowdry lotion. This is equally magnificent, adds volume and softness with no tackiness.

I have super fine limp hair. This lives up to its name alright! it definitely thickens my hair and gives it some oomph. I will repurchase this for sure.
