I bought the Nair with baby oil for smooth skin one, and I didn't get any harsh chemical smell. A slight one, but the baby oil overpowered it. You do have to use quite a lot, so the bottle doesn't last as long as I wish it did. You either love nair, or you hate it. But it worked for me. I have medium-coarse leg hair and after 3 minutes, I'm basically done. I just wipe it off with a washcloth then wash it off. If I want my soft legs to last a little longer, I let it sit there for another 2 or 3 minutes, but NEVER over 10 minutes. Nair burns away hair, and it will start to burn away skin. My skin is usually baby smooth for 4-5 days, compared to shaving where I was prickly after a couple days. And this is a lot quicker than shaving, which is great. Veet leaves me patchy, and I have to go back with a razor and its so annoying. Nair works differently on everyone, so just try it out on a small section of your leg, an if it doesn't work, return it.

Nair was extremely popular when i was in high school. I always used a razor until i was introduced to lotion hair remover. When first put on it has s tingling hot sensation but after a few minutes it subsides and feels cool. I wipe off with warm warm and pat with a towel. My legs feel SO smooth and hair does not grow back for about 3-4 days. Perfect accessory for summer.

It works exactly like it says it will for me at least. I don't think the odor is really that bad, if you're buying chemicals, you have to expect it to have some sort of chemical smell. I have no problems with it. For the quantity it gives you it is kind of expensive so I'd say shave when you can but if you're in a hurry or just don't like shaving then it's a really good product.

Nair is one of those tricky products that either works amazingly well or, literally, scars you for life. For me, Nair works amazingly well but only in a very limited capacity.


First, I'll admit that I've used Nair on just about every part of my body in a vain effort to avoid shaving or waxing because I'm lazy. If I can find a shortcut, I'll use it. For the most part, Nair ain't a short cut. If anything, it can make matters infinitely worse. When I was a teenager, I foolishly tried using Nair on my underarms. Even after I did a patch test, it still left my underarms red and raw for about three days. Not pretty and it certain didn't feel good. My legs didn't fare much better. While they weren't raw, I developed weird-ish bumps and the hair grew back just as fast as it does when I shave. Sort of pointless, no? My third use of Nair was on my upper lip and brows. I actually used it for a while on my face in between waxes which I really wouldn't recommend. While I didn't break out, it's rather useless in removing the hair there. It just sort of melts the hair leaving you with decidedly odd looking stubble that grows back almost immediately.


The one and only way I can use Nair is for my bikini area. Granted, you have to be VERY careful not to get it on any of your sensitive bits but otherwise, it works fairly well. I won't say it's comparable to a bikini wax (which I've never gotten) but it's a somewhat decent alternative.


Aside from its hit-and-miss hair removing ability, Nair is also downright stinky and messy to use. No matter what scent you get, it reeks and the chemical-y smell lingers. My goodness how it lingers! Then there's the whole process of applying, waiting, and praying you've left it on long enough to remove the hair because a second pass will leave you with raw skin. Unless you're rather patient, it can be a pain to use. I can't imagine who can use this in the way it is advertised because I haven't met one person -fair, dark, hairy, non-hairy-who can use this as directed/advertised and get awesome results. I'm sure there's someone out there who can but I haven't met them.


Even though I gave Nair a decent rating, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone because waxing it really the better alternative. It hurts like hell but it's better than waiting 10 minutes with stinky lotion on your *insert name of body part here* while praying that it removes unwanted hair but leaves your skin intact. Even if you do a patch test, Nair is kind of unpredictable and really doesn't remove all the hair, especially if your hair is coarse and thick. If you have very sensitive skin, I say skip is altogether. I have pretty rough skin and even I can only use this in a limited capacity.

Everyone who complains about it is dumb. Clearly some people havent been reading the bottle. It clearly says in the warning that youre suppose to test it out on a small part of the skin 24 hours before to make sure its still working and that you have to keep doing this, even if you used the product. And its says in the directions to read the warning before reading the directions. I understand that it might not work for all people but if you're not even using the product right you shouldnt scare away people who could seriously use it with you bad reviews. I will definitely buy this again.

I really do hate this stuff.
I don't have terribly sensitive skin, but Nair makes my legs look like I've just got done scrubbing them with Brillo pads. Unfortunately, Brillo pads might actually be more effective at removing hair than this product.
Bottom line-
-I, myself, would not recommend it
-I have never met anyone who has actually found this product to be effective

The smell will always be there no matter which product you buy. (I have bought both the baby oil and the cucumber but they still smell). You should also be careful in exposing your nails to this product because the top layer of my nails literally peeled off! (Please get a small towel or some gloves to apply this). However, this removes a large majority of my leg hair and didnt grow back in almost a week. (It's a big deal for me because with shaving my hair grows back in two days!)

I enjoy how this removes leg/underarm hair for weeks with no stubble.
BUT- i use this on my legs if im in a hurry and dont have time to shave. First of all, IT BURNS. It stung the whole time and they expect me to keep in on my legs for 3-5 minutes? yikes. Also it left little cuts and scars on my legs! Whatever is in this cant be good for your skin...

I can't stand the feeling of shaving so this is the product I mainly use. It can usually be found in pound shops here so is pretty cheap as one tube will do my legs and underarms. I prefer to wax my legs so I use this on my underarms. I must be lucky because I can leave this stuff on for hours and it doesn't even tingle. It leaves my legs smooth but is a bit messy to wash off, it gets all over the shower. I've been using it for years, it's easy, no fuss and cheap and I'll continue to use it.

Nair is the worst brand I've ever used. Veet is somewhat better

Ladies don't use this shit on your face, that's like shaving your face, because it MELTS the hair away, it doesn't remove the hair.
Also it's a lot of chemicals for your skin, stick to waxing or threading...TRUST ME

I used to love Nair. It was my go-to hair removal product. But I don't know if it's me or if they changed the formula, but since a few years ago, everytime I use Nair, my skin literally burns off when I remove the hair. It would only be on my skin for a minimum of 2 minutes and my skin will BURN. It's the most painful thing. I can only use it for my bikini area without problems.

I just bought this in the new, improved baby lotion scent. It still has a bit of that famous Nair smell, but it really is a lot better than before. I have quite a bit of hair on my arms, and even though it is fine and not too dark, it still bothers me in the seasons when I wear short sleeves. I left it on for just about 3 minutes, and the hair came off very nicely. Your probably would need to leave it on longer for coarser hair. A week later, my arms still feel and look smooth. It also was not drying at all. I did have some itching while it was on, but that went away as soon as I rinsed it off.

This was not a really bad product I bought it a few months ago when I was on a trip and forgot my razor I used it again to avoid going to the store and I sprayed a wash cloth with perfume and put it over my nose it took care of the draino smell. I left it on my legs for the full ten minutes yes it burns but nothing I could not handle i removed it and washed with a light soap then put on body butter legs feel smooth no razor burn or cuts so over all alright.

I bought the coconut version and it didnt smell that bad until you actually use it.i was really nervous so i just smacked the lotion on my legs since all the reviews were so bad. I used it on my legs and put a very THICCCCKKK layer on my legs, after like a minute it kinda itched and immediately washed it with a washcloth then rinsed it. I kept on washing and rubbing it with the cloth so it doesnt irritate later. It didnt give me red rashes or bumps but still kinda itched. The removal was okay, it left small patches of hair. then i put regular lotion then ya.

This stuff sucks. I followed the directions and everything and it removed NONE of the hair on my legs. Like, I'm not even kidding, it did nothing. And there wasn't even much hair there! I have very fine leg hair and there was just slight stubble on my legs and it didn't even do anything. Oh and the smell. Cucumber melon? More like open sewer. Do not waste your money on this stuff! Invest in a good razor instead...

Upon reading many scary reviews, I was extremely frightened to use this product because I have sensitive skin. But I gave it a shot, and I certainly don't regret it. I followed the directions, applying a thick coat and leaving it on for 3 minutes before wiping away. It left me with very smooth legs and minimal irritation. The only downfall in my opinion is the smell. It's not the worst, but definitely not the best. Overall, this is a great product.

My electrologist told me to use this on my peach fuzz every day for a few months. Her instructions were to wipe it on gently, and wash off as soon as it starts to tingle (45 seconds max). She told me that on very fine, light, blonde peach fuzz hair, this will actually damage the hair follicle enough that it won't grow back anymore.

I've not been at it long enough to know whether or not this is working, but it is a fantastic solution for peach fuzz either way. I'd never leave it on my face for 3 minutes as the package says to. Doing a few short applications for 3 or 4 days in a row will leave your skin with absolutely no irritation.

And yes, it does smell horrendous, but since your hair is being burned off by caustic chemicals, it's hard to say that I expected much different.

Ugh!! I HATE Nair lotion hair remover!! I have very sensitive skin, I tried it and it burnt like crazy... Also it smells REALLY terrible!! Ugh, the price isn't that bad at all, pretty cheap, but it's definitely not worth what you would pay for it. I also have dark hair, and I find it doesn't remove any hair at all. My legs looked just the same after I used this product, only they felt like they were on fire.
One of the worst purchases I ever made. I tossed it right away after one use.
