I was lucky enough to get this for free. If your hair is short, layered, needs texture, volume, some hold, this is expensive but it'll work for ya. If you want an inexpensive version, got2b's chaotic is less than $4 after tax for the same amount, flat jar shape and it has the same light blue color. I was just lucky to get Manipulator as a gift. And yes I can tell the difference between the two. I love putting Manipulator through my hair after a shower (not dripping wet, but I would need a towel to lay my head down). I air dry, and my hair gets noticably fuller when done, as opposed to without it my hair is blah. I just really recommend this product after getting a short layered bob. I style it with this so I don't have to use heat. My 'do looks darling after I twist in some texture or create voluminous bouncy fullness. Overnight curls last longer and pop more when I use this before I braid my hair at bedtime. Also when my friends hug me they can't help but smell how good my hair is. A classic bedhead product that should last forever.. Literally. I wonder when I'll run out of this, it's got to be years from now.

I know I'm not crazy...the formula is different, and I will be expressing my concerns as well to the company next. Ugh, not only is it like lotion now...it provides nothing for hold and it smells funny. I can pour it right out of the tub. Ive been a fan since 05', but I'm done. The last one I bought was the old formula, so I bought another and ugh, it was the greasy, runny stuff. Never again..19 dollars wasted.

I used to love this product until just recently. I have purchased for at least 10 years and would have rated it 5=BEST. When I bought a new jar last week my hairdresser warned me it had changed! Some research and it looks like they have changed manufacturers of the product.
It is very runny and slimy now, it used to stick to your fingers now it slides off. Very hard to pick any up out of the jar. It is very watery and almost looks oily and separated in the jar.

I am so disappointed that this long standing excellent product has changed so much. I plan on going to the website and also trying to provide my feedback direct to the company. :-(
Wonder if any other bed head products have changed?

I absolutely love TIGI manipulator. I have long thick wavish curly hair which is on the drier side. Here's how I use it- after shampoo and condition, I apply JF leave-in conditioner for detangling(which is the only thing that product does), follow it with PM Round trip section wise(mind it, my hair is fairly thick) and finish it up with TIGI manipulator. I section my hair in two, take nickel-size of this, rub between my hands(u will need to melt the product before applying), then work through one section. I repeat the same with the other section. Then I start scrunching till I reach the desired style.
Word of caution- its texture might scare you at first, but you can learn to work with it gradually :D

Results- frizz free defined curls till the next wash. With this product in your hair, you can even go by an extra day without washing :) This is a total winner for me. I highly recommend it for wavy/curly hair.
Definetely repurchase.

Love it. I've loved all five Bed Head products I've tried, but this stuff is like, the ultimate HG hair styling product and makes my hair so well behaved. Everything from adding volume/thickness at the roots or to my ponytail, to taming fly-aways, defining my waves and adding texture, this is IT. No greasy mess, no difficulty combing through my hair at the end of the day, no gooey, sticky mess if I get caught in the rain. Just lovely, well behaved, polished hair with just a touch of added shine.

I don't find that this adds any “hold”...but I don't really need a product with hold (i.e. hairspray) when I use this. My hair just kind of stays together beautifully and effortlessly.

Yes the product is messy (I would much prefer this gooey, sticky stuff in a tube rather than the pot it comes in...but once it's worked through my hair, there's not a hint of the original texture of it in the pot), and the scent is so-so (kind of a strange mix of laffy-taffy and...coconut?) but light and pleasant enough that if it could be smelled by someone ultra-close to my hair, I wouldn't be shy about it. Around $19 from the salon (but can be found online for much cheaper)...will undoubtedly repurchase.

I loved this stuff when I had much shorter hair. It's one of the few products that could make my hair actually stand, spike, and style despite it my hair being baby fine and unmanageably wavy. It also smells amazing. My only complaint is unless you get it on a special (I have seen it occasionally in a super large tub for the same normal price it is, or two smaller jars taped together for the same normal price) if you have to use this daily you can easily go through it fast. I know I was easily going through a jar a month with super short hair that had to be styled everyday. I also dislike that it's in a jar and you always have to stick your fingers in.

LOVE IT! This stuff is great for my long frizzy wavy/curly hair I get up in the morning and all I have to do is warm a little bit in my hands and scunch my curls and I'm off with perfect looking curls. this product is my HG for sure.

I feel this product is only appropriate for those with short hair. A styling agent with this amount of sticky/tacky feeling to it tends to clump up something awful in longer hair -- or at least it did for me. For those with very fine or thin hair, watch out! This can be quite heavy. I used this to help style my hair when it was very short, in many stages of growing out my mohawk. I liked it while my hair was short, but I noticed a big difference in its efficacy once my hair got a bit longer. Since I now wear my hair long, I would not repurchase -- but I might consider it had I any desire to have short hair again.

Where is the button for 10 stars? This is my HG styling product. I have long hair that is limp after straightening. This product makes my hair look slept in, tousled, and textured right after I wash it. The secret is to use it correctly! Take a small amount between the tips of your fingers, warm it up, and make a clapping motion with your hands. You will start to see very fine fibres between your fingertips. At this stage, run the product through your hair to defrizz, texturise and volumise limp hair. Works amazingly on long hair and I am sure it does wonders on short hair too.

Poor product. Too emollient to have any real impact in terms of control. Instead, leaves hair looking greasy, necessitating an immediate re-wash.

I have a short bleached out pixie. I love this product i use this in clean dry hair and finish with keune hairspray to lock the look in place because otherwise it stays greasy and will move around. It'll get on my hands and they'll get all greasy so I spray it down and then its perfect because it gives cute seperation and peicy texture.

When my old stylist would straighten my hair, this is what she used to keep my fringe in place. Love it!

I love this stuff!!! I have long, thick, and curly hair and this really tames it down! At first glance I thought this would be what a guy might want to use to spike his hair, but I found that this is really moisturizing and it defines my curls without leaving them hard or flaky from product. The texture of this is just like glue but it does not even make my hands sticky, plus it smells faintly of coconuts. Surprisingly, this is a definate HG product, I highly recommend this for anyone with curly hair!! Make sure you use it when your hair is still wet.

I have an above-shoulder-length inverted bob with a lot of texture and layers cut into it and this is EXACTLY the product I've been searching for. I use a tiny amount of this stuff on the ends of my dried/styled hair to define the texture and smooth down any frizz. It makes my hair look sleek and polished and it shows the detail of the cut and helps to keep my chunky, sideswept bang in place. This stuff smells great, kind of tropical/cocunut-y and, like others have said, a little goes a long way. The price upfront seems steep but when you start using it and realize just how long the tub is going to last the cost is totally appropriate. Be careful not to use too much because I could see this stuff making your hair heavy or greasy if you went overboard. LOVE this product! :)

Recently had my boring one length thick hair cut into shoulder-length layers. I have straight hair so I decided to look for a good texturizer in MUA to "enhance" my new layers. I came across this Manipulator. Although wasn't expecting it to be 25 cdn in the Superstore, I still decided to invest in it. And I'm glad I gave it a shot!!

I usually blow dry my hair first and then spread the tiniest amount possible through my hands and run it at the ends. I read that some use it on their roots but i'm just worried that it might weigh my hair flat. This product ROCKS! It enhances and texturizes my hair without making me look greasy. Would recommend it to thick haired girls like me. Packaging could be improved still. Will definitely buy again,

I used this for a long time but it kind of got more and more gunky very quickly. I still like it a lot, it holds a lot more than the (cheaper!) Rusk Being Warped I use now, but it isn't perfect. It is a lot heavier, but when I want to do something cool with my hair (like a crazy curl cowlick or something) I am really glad I have this at my disposal. It definitely has a home in my cabinet, but I wouldn't use it regularly because it is too heavy.

I loove to use this on wet hair to bring out my natural wave. It is also great for texturizing flat ironed hair and keeping face framing pieces/bangs in place. Smells divine and works well on both long and short hair. Once you find the "right amount" for your desired style, this stuff is practically fool-proof. Little jar seems pricey, but lasts a long time. It is also frequently found in TIGI gift packs, so keep an eye out and you can get it for a good price.

I love this product because it smells SOOO AWESOME. Like a lot of Bed Head products, it smells like candy or something equally sweet. In terms of styling, though, it's fairly average. I use it to give my hair a little body at the roots, but if I use too much, it just gets sticky. Probably not worth the money.

Love, love, love this product for both short and longer hair. I use it to control my coarse, frizzy hair after straightening, and to chunk up flyaway ends. I am going to try it on wet hair for leaving waves, too. Only complaint is the top of the jar leaves dark deposits (like rust or something) on the sides and I have to clean it off frequently.

Oh how I love the manipulator. Everyone who has texturized hair, or loves texturized hair, has used this product and I speak for myself that I love it, it's easy to work with between your fingers or just squeeze a drop in your hands and work it through.
It's not sticky and washes right off. I didn't find that it leaves residue in my hair. Price point is just right for the amount of product you get, it's perfect. Last a while and smells really good.
