Spirit is a great nude to wear that isn't too light. I don't like my lips to look to light but this is great to wear with stronger eye makeup, especially green and gold eyeshadow. I was looking for a replacement for one of my favorite shades "Flattering" mattene by MAC and this came pretty close. It is a little more brown than Flattering but still has a cooler undertone.

This is my very first purchase of Mac products. I purchased it during the times that I wasn't sure at all about what lip color that I was exactly looking for and all I knew was that I wanted to get a nice nude for my lips... I seriously was chicken shit when it comes to going into a store, being clueless about what I wanted and being talked into buying something that wasn't what I look for at all! This seriously is too dark for me and I didn't use it much at all! Today, after a year, I put together the 2 mac lipsticks that I absolutely don't like on its own (which are spirit and supremely confident) and came up with this wearable pretty nude color that I will wear! I mean I am not head over heels with it but definitely I found my way to use up these lippies that I thought will stay in these tubes forever! And seriously it's very moisturizing because of supremely confident is a supreme cremesheen! I'm wearing it right now, I like it but still don't like it enough to repurchase! Let me see if this will get to me after a little while... maybe I will find my way into loving it? i don't know... Let's see how it goes!

i bought this when my favorite go to neutral lipstick, freckle, was discontinued. this has a pinch more mauve than freckle but it works for me. i pair it with chesnut liner and a little gloss because even though its a satin finish it is sort of matte like on my lips. spirit can be the perfect color when you have a bold/dramatic eye or when you want to look complete but don't want a more vivid color. i'm an nw43 in mac shades so for me this is the perfect, nude/natural lip. i hope this one isn't discontinued!

It was my friend's henna party and I had my makeup on except that I forgot to do my lips. My friend luckily had her sister's MAC Spirit lipstick and let me use it. It was a nice nude/brown shade with a tiny hint of pink in it. my lips looked fab and i instantly felt sophisticated and sexy ;o) it kept my lips moisturised and smooth throughout the whole day and it also has a nice unique smell to it, like the other MAC lipsticks. You can wear this lipstick for any occasion, and even for everyday wear. It's in satin so it's a quite matte but with a hint of moisture added. I think it would suit nearly all skin tones as both my friend and I had worn it and it looked great on her too given that her skin tone is much much warmer than my light skin. Haven't purchased this lipstick yet, but will do very soon hopefully.

This is actually my first satin finish lipstick (from MAC). I'm NC25 and this lipstick is too brown for me. I try experimenting and mixing it to other lippies to get my desired finish; I use the lip color in Smashbox Doubletake Lip Color in Gossamer as my base and top with MAC Spirit. I somehow consider it likable in my opinion =) You can actually use any lighter shades (like MAC Giddy, etc) for the base.

Well, I didn't think that I could and would buy a MAC lipstick less flattering than Velvet Teddy, but I was wrong. I'll keep this short and sweet - on my lightly-pigmented red lips, and against my NC40 olive skin, Spirit looks grey-brown - the emphasis being on the grey. It then makes my skin look grey. I can't even tell what colour it really is, as every time I swatch it on my skin, it looks completely different to how it appears in the tube. In the tube it looks orange-brown with a hint of pink, swatched on my skin it looks more pink-brown, but on my lips something diabolical happens and it transforms into a sludge colour. I couldn't even tell you how long it lasts for, as it looks so terrible on me, I have the urge to remove it straight away. This makes Velvet Teddy seem like HG material!

I used to love this color in my early 20's. It was a pretty pinky-brown nude that looked good and suited me. Now that I'm in my late 30's, this color just doesn't look right anymore. It looks too drab on me now. I have to use a pink liner and lipgloss to make this work, and it barely works. Too bad, this used to be a favorite.

I am a NC40 foundation colour and tried this lipstick i love it. Its good enough and light enough to wear everyday as well as complimenting a light gloss very happy with it.

The satin finish is really matte but without being too drying. I'm very pale and I think that's why the color looks more brown than pink on me. Which isn't a bad thing but I always look better with a touch of pink on my lips. I usually wear this lipstick with a bit of pink lipstick in the middle of my bottom lip. Like all MAC lipsticks, it's good quality, you just have to find the color that suits you.

This color is deceptive because pinky/brown/mauve describes it but on my lips it's just not flattering. I would also describe Viva Glam 3 (I think) as pinky brown and it looks good but Spirit clashes with my yellow GGG coloring and is a dark/cloudy color. It has a grey cast with sparkles and just looks blah and boring and ugly.

Spirit adds nothing to the face as the picture shows and I would only wear it if I were wearing something pink.

Alternately, if you want a pink brown color, try Nars Chihuahua lip gloss and layer over MAC Photo lipstick. Chihuahua is a nice color on its own.

I can understand how the fair ladies would prefer this but NC 20-30 like me should steer clear. The formula is nice though.

I am a very ivory in color. An this color works well on me. I don't wear reds. They wash me out and make me look dead. I am loving this color with a little dazzleglass in like venus. So don't think it is to strong for you if your light ivory. I have blue eyes maybe that's why it works? idk So if you love the color pick it up try it on and hope it works on you. It's also very creamy :)

There are a lot of comments about this being a lovely mauve-pink-brown-nude shade, and it is. There are also a lot of comments on how this probably would not work on a very pale person, but oh, it DOES! I am very pale with warm blonde hair and this lippie looks equally luscious on me as a blonde or when I am a redhead. It makes my pale skin look creamy and pulls together a polished low-makeup look. Since the formula has a non-drying near-matte finish this lippie always looks appropriate and not overdone. One of the very few lippies I have ever purchased a back-up of. You know how you have those one or two lippies that you can always reach for to provide a quick pick-me-up? The ones that always go with everything and every mood and are just plain reliable in a pinch? This one does that for me - it is understated but at the same time just always makes me look subtly better. A no-brainer to keep in my collection at all times!

MAC describes this satin as a muted pinky-beige brown. I agree with the description. I have pigmented dark lips, so by itself the color is just a smidgen too light for my NC40 skin tone (reminds of me of a darker version of Velvet Teddy) so I darken this with a liner. The formula similar to a matte more so than a satin, but not overly drying. It's a pretty color for a nude lip or an understated day lip. It has slight hints of peach undertones but that may be due to my natural lip color. I can see WOC using this as YLBB color and can be very versatile.

Spirit is the perfect nude lipstick for a nw45 complexion. It is natural and smooth and nude but not in a dead way it has a slight brick undertone. I love it bc its not out there and allows me to be a little crazy with the eye makeup:)

Alright, another rosy brown. BUT goes on wonderfully, not-too-dry or too greasy. Just the perfect color on me, i.e. the perfect balance of brown and rose. Stunning with MAC Spring Green gloss on top.

MLBB on me (nc37-40 with very pigmented, brown/reddish lips) - it evens out my lip tone and gives a really natural, rose lip shade if I dab it on. If I smear it on, it gives a very sophisticated brown-rose shade. A must-have natural color for darker skin and lips-probably not great if you are pale, but I love it.

For reference, I'm an NC45, and this is a perfect nude color.
I'll lip-line with either cork or plum, and add some clear gloss, and voila! A beautiful nude natural looking lip appears!

This lipstick is my everday favorite! I'm south Asian with pigmented lips so it's hard to find something which conceals and covers perfectly. The satin finish can be a little drying for me so I always use Aquaphor or Carmex underneath. No lip liner and this looks totally natural and beautiful! I went to buy Blankety and got this as well and I use it more than Blankety! Give it a try if you have fair-medium skin tone with darker eyes/hair.
