This is the best cleanser I have used for a very long time. I love the smell and the fact that it gently and thoroughly cleans and removes my make-up. It also removes my eye make-up unless I am wearing quite a lot in which case I do use eye make-up remover first. It lasts a really long time and I think it is good value for money.

Good cream, soap free, low toxicity cleanser. I breakout easily and do not with this cleanser. Great after acid peels or after being in sun. Does not strip skin but also will not remove all waterproof makeup.

Would give it 4.5 stars. Really nice but strong "aromatherapy" smell might put some people off. I like this better than my other favorite, Lush Aqua Marina because my skin feels cleaner yet less stripped than the Lush product.

Too irritating for my very sensitive skin, but works great as an after-wax cleanser / soother to remove excess wax on skin! High quality ingredients, well executed product at a relatively inexpensive price, convenient pump bottle, just too much for my finicky face :(.

Love this cleanser. It's been one of my night time cleansers for more than a year. I alternate this with Laventine's Olive Forte water soluble cleansing oil, as well as St Ives Apricot Scrub (the one in the jar, NOT the tube). These are all great heavy duty cleansers for removing every iota of all types of makeup. I am 64 with dry skin and I can not find one fault with any of the above cleansers. Incidentally, I use Cetaphil as my morning cleanser.

Update: Twenty years and counting -- this cleanser is the VERY best. I have dabbled with a few samples here and there, but nothing compares to this cleanser. I use the Gentle Cleansing Milk some mornings in the winter now since my skin is very dry. BWC's products are great. I have ridiculously sensitive and breakout-prone normal to dry skin and this is the BEST. It was a first big step in calming my skin and putting me on the road to clear smooth skin. It is a little like Cetaphil lotion, removes makeup better and is so gentle. It's $6.95 for 8.5 oz. It seems to last a long time. I love that it's cruelty free, and I like the fresh smell.

I think they changed this over the years, or maybe just the packaging. Anyway, it's a really great cleanser for dryer skin like mine. Although it is a creamy cleanser(instead of a sudsy one), it totally removes makeup. The lavender scent is very calming. I think BWC is a great line of products.

I like the all-natural ingredients in this face wash, and it is very gentle. But for me, the smell is unbearable. Maybe I got a bad bottle, because it doesn't smell like a citrus/lavender scent, like someone said below, but just a strange, strong, sour, herbal smell. Also, it feels like it doesn't rinse away cleanly, leaving some sort of residue on my skin. I really want to like the company, based on their ingredients, lack of animal testing, and nice packaging, so I think I will try the facial cleansing milk next and see how that goes.

Yet another cleanser for the trash can. This irritated my skin and has a very unpleasant smell.

I bought this cleanser because I was looking for something with little to no chemicals in it. I'm really liking it so far. It has a very nice lavender/citrus smell. I also use this to remove my eye makeup - I just put a small amount on a cotton ball and it wipes right off! Doesn't burn my sensitive eyes at all. I have had no problems at all with this removing my Bare Minerals makeup. A quick swipe with Witchazel afterwards proved it for me.

Oh what a bummer, I really wanted to like this but it does not remove my makeup and I wear only minimal makeup so it shouldn't have been an issue. I liked everything else about it, really did leave my face soft but I started to breakout a little and I'm sure that was because it wasn't really cleaning my face.

This is a very nice cleanser for dry skin. Overall my skin is oily, but in the dead of winter it starts to get dry. I use this to wash off my makeup every night before I use my Clinique 3-step skin care regimen. It has a very strong herbal smell, but I like it. It leaves my skin thoroughly cleansed, but not dry or tight. And it's not tested on animals, which is a requirement for me.

A very nice creme cleanser that rinses clean and doesn't dry out the face. Takes makeup off well and smells great. Price is very reasonable and it lasts a long time. This is a great natural alternative to Cetaphil.

Thicker then you might think (much thicker and oilier-feeling then Cetaphil), but rinses clean and makes skin very soft. Also I found that this removed all my makeup with no problem. I have mostly dry skin with a slightly oily tzone and I noticed this leaves a "gross feeling" on my oilier parts- almost like I need a blotting sheet immediatly after cleansing. Not a film per se, but not a good feeling. I suppose I should have read the bottle fully before buying it, because it clearly states "for normal to dry skin". But I havent broken out yet from this so thats a plus. And the smell to me is not pleasant at all- its pure lemon floor polish. Ewwww.

I love this cleanser. I love the way it smells, love the way it leaves my skin feeling, and love that its a natural product without a bunch of weird-sounding chemicals & is not tested on animals. I also love the price (very reasonable). I have combo skin and this cleanser leaves my face feeling soft & balanced. I was a little nervous the first time I used it because it felt kind of greasy- I was afraid I made a terrible mistake -- but it rinses off great & leaves skin really soft. And it smells wonderful- a relaxing lavender-y scent. I don't wear a lot of makeup, but this has no problem removing what I do wear. It comes in a convienent pump dispenser. Highly recommend.

I've just switched from the BWC 3% alpha cleanser, which did wonders for my skin in the summer. But now that the cool/cold weather is here, my combo-dry skin needs something more moisturizing. WOW- I love this! Lovely liquidey texture leaves my skin clean, smooth w/ no film. It's gentle, all natural & great price $7.50 for 8.5 oz. I highly reccomend & I have a back-up, although this conveinent pump bottle should last awhile, as only a small amount is needed each time.

Wonderful cleanser that reminds me of Cetaphil, but without the residue. The smell is indescribable - they use organic essential oils. This does not remove eye makeup all that well, but that's why they make eye makeup remover, right? Anyway, this has calmed my testy oily yet sensitive skin down tremendously (that's saying something in this heat and humidity!). I would definitely repurchase but am tempted to try the 3% AHA wash next. Nonetheless, this is a great gentle cleanser that doesn't cost much more than Cetaphil and doesn't test on animals.

This is my holy grail. I have very dry flaky sensitive pimples-when-stressed-out skin and this is the only thing that keeps my skin perfect. It's a cream cleanser that doesn't foam with a texture similar to Cetaphil, but unlike Cetaphil doesn't leave a weird film after rinsing. Your skin won't feel squeaky clean but soft and fabulous. It doesn't remove all my eye makeup (full n'soft mascara) but if it did it would probably be too harsh anyway. The scent is unique, but doesn't bother me. My absolute favorite and someone should slap me if I ever feel like trying something new. I had Wild Oats special order it for me and it was $8.99.

This is my usual winter facial cleanser and it's a terrific, gentle, effective cleanser. In the summer I use BWC's Alpha Hydroxy 2% (something like that) cleanser. I'm very sensitive to cleansers and this is a no-brainer repeat purchase!
