I had no expectations when I got this perfume. I sprayed a bit on my wrist in the late afternoon and picked up a bottle the next day.
It is definitely a heavy oriental but with a sweetness that can come across a bit heavy.
I wouldn't get it again.

I love the bottles from Penhaligons and i'm a huge fan of the brand. This scent is sweet with a quick of vanilla to it but not over powering.

poh shoot!!:((
I've had so much expectations from this perfume, and after a whilw (after I used my generous vial:)),I've decided that this one is so not for me...
I've been using alot of heavy -duty orientals and floriental parfumes, with vanilla, tonka, heliotrope which can be veeery nauseating...and Cornubia is no exeption..
it is loaded with sickly sweet vanilla and heliotrope, thet it almost hurts...the begining is very pleasant, a bit sharp, due to the bergamot (it reminds me of Shalimar but just a bit)...then you can almost taste almonds(marzipane),and then it swooshes you with heliotrope...
for all of you who use or had been using L'Erbolario Almond, it is very simmilar sort of sweetnes to it...it has some Heure Bleue with that oily, heavy base so be warned!
admirers of Guerlain could find this one wearable, but it doesn't go with my skin chemistry so well, because it is too generic and cloying..
I'd say it is a good composed perfume, but I'll stick with Shalimar instead:)))
(edit: o.m.g.!!I guess it was a bad timing for us two, sorry Cornubia....I've put it on me yesterday, and had the most extraordinary experience....it still resemble Shalimar edt, but it is veeery sexy, soft and Haure Bleu-ish with some musk and sugar...I got ''meeself'' a decant...ooooooh, I'm loving it allready!!!!!)

I love this! When I first spray it on it almost has a marzipan smell to it. After the dry down it becomes so warm and rich, a really great oriental! I can't stop smelling myself during the phase and have received compliments when wearing it... from an ex!

Fragrance Composition
Notes - Mandarin, Freesia, Neroli
Middle Notes - Orange Flower, Jasmine, Heliotrope
Base Notes - Dry Musk, Precious Woods, Amber.
I simply adore this fragrance, it makes my husband swoon. During our early dating days, my husband was having an argument with his ex, he wanted to retrieve his things and she wanted to keep them. I sprayed this perfume on and my husband looked a little dazed for a moment and said "You smell so good, let's go home and have some fun." He said in the car ride home that the perfume completely distracted him and made him forget what he was even doing...now thats a great scent!
Whenever my husband seems to be in a bad mood, all I have to do is spray some on myself and walk past him...his mood changes quick!
I get alot of the orange blossom and amber which I really enjoy in a perfume.

Cornubia like its name is a rich oriental scent. This smells similar to some of the Guerlain's which is probably why I adore this scent. It's long lasting and complex. Very very nice.

Surprisingly, but nobody has noted its similarities with LouLou (Cacharel). In my opinion they are twins

I bought Cornubia on my first trip to London, and sadly regretted my purchase upon returning home. Loved the topnotes in the shop and bought too hastily (lesson learned - wait for the drydown). The drydown is much too powdery for my taste. The "powder factor" is what spoils Shalimar and Samsara for me, too. It is lovely, though...just not for me.

I absolutely love this! I love the initial fresh top notes of neroli, I get a hint of jasmine and then it settles down to the most wonderfull vanilla scent which is not sickly sweet as with other vanilla scents. They class this as an oriental perfume, but I didn't find it overpowering and suffocating as I normally do find other oriental scents. It lasts 4-5 hours on my skin and it's such a sexy scent! The packaging is incredible. Overall a fabulous perfume which doesn't smell synthetic or cheap as most fragrances do these days.

I'm not an experienced fragrance reviewer, so I'll keep this simple. This is a lovely sweet, vanilla/powdery scent. It is very feminine and quite sexy - also went down a treat with my SO who likes vanilla-y scents on me - I am normally faithful to Burberry Brit, so you can see a trend with me and the sweet vanilla thing, yes? :) I did notice the powderyness as the perfume reacted to my skin etc. but I didn't find that it became sickening or overwhelming.
Lasting power is good but not overwhelming (I am led to believe that Penhaligons aren't great for the lasting). Sillage is decent.
I really like this fragrance and, as I mentioned, felt very sexy and feminine wearing it. Will continue to use it but won't be abandoning my Burberry Brit just yet!

This started off smelling very much like a softer FM Musc Ravageur. It had that same spicy root beer-ish musky thing going on. I liked this phase very much. But about an hour later, it became very heavy on the vanilla and powder; during this phase it bore a similarity to Guerlain Shalimar. I strongly dislike powdery fragrances, so Cornubia lost its appeal for me as time passed. Still, I find this fragrance exotic and sophisticated, and it would be stunning on the right woman...someone who wears fur, pearls, and stillettos, and wants a trail of elegant, powdery perfume to follow her. Lasting power is better than most Penhaligon's, still going strong after 4-5 hours on me.

Cornubia is a soft, warm, very sweet scent. On me the heliotrope completely overpowers all the other notes. There is certainly some musk and amber, but I can detect no jasmine or orange blossom. On my skin this just gets sweeter and sweeter as it dries down and the scent as a whole is too heavy and cloying for me.
Edited: I subsequently took one lippie off because the heliotrope was so overpowering it actually made me feel sick.

I have hankered after a bottle of this for a long time. I can see how some might just find it powdery, old, overpowering, but that's not how I perceive it. On my skin, Cornubia is warm, soft, with vanilla, amber base notes that last about 6 hours. It is layered by a light floral overtone. The overall effect is devastatingly elegant and feminine. It attracts compliments and makes me feel very classy. Definately a cold weather scent. Good for power / sexy dressing.

I had high hopes for this what with heliotrope, opoponax, mandarin, amber, woods and musk in the notes, but the freesia, neroli and orange flower form a KO combination that renders this fragrance too perfumey and offsettingly floral on top of all those deeper oriental notes. A little powdery, and a little too generic smelling for me.

This probably the most sophisticated of all of Penhaligon's scents. Although it is described as a floriental, it's a straight oriental with some floral notes on me. The simple gold and purple package design fits the perfume perfectly: it's classy, worldly and perfectly in conrol. The musky, sandalwood base hits me first, along with top notes of neroli that keep the fragrance from being a straight woody scent. Wear it with your hair in a chignon and a classic suit

I found this fragrance to be sweet, but in an assertive, almost annoying way. It's not totally unpleasant, but nothing I'd ever want to own. Reminds me way too much of Georgio.

This smells a mix of jasmine and some strong spicy baby powder on my skin. Very stale and 'old' smelling. Top Notes - Mandarin, Freesia, Neroli
Middle Notes - Orange Flower, Jasmine, Heliotrope
Base Notes - Dry Musk, Precious Woods, Amber.
