i can't believe i didn't write a review on this! i bought this two years ago when i was really into the 'nude" look. it cost around 40 AUD if my memory serves me correctly. I just loved the natural, orangey-pinky-browny colour (It's so hard to describe it well). No glitter or shimmer, it's just a pure, moisturing, pigmented lipgloss that is not sticky (i can wear my hair down with it). some people don't like the smell, but i really didn't mind, and it goes awat after a while. This wears off very naturally as well, no clumpy or messy residue left over hours later. my l/g has become a bit 'off' recently, the smell has changed, and i really want to repurchase. but i'll be good and wait until i use up my other glosses.

When I first looked at this gloss I taught It might be too similar to Revlon nude lustre however, when I put it on, WOW not even close. The pigment is amazing, great color payoff, nice shine and staying power. The color is amazing, My complexion is med/warm and Rhubarb gives me the best rosy lips, I find the color some what complex, but on my lips it's a warm peachy/rose. Super wearable. Great color for anytime. A new fave.

A nice, peachy gloss that is not too sticky, but is substantial in pigment and feel. I think it is the exact color of my lips, but intensified. Don't be fooled by apparent similarity to drugstore glosses. This is a high quality gloss that stays put, even through a meal. I keep this in my purse. It goes with any look, but is best as a casual, everyday gloss.

I just received this in a swap and I love it so much that I just ordered it again from another obliging swapper. If you are teetering on the fence over whether or not to get this fabulous gem, read on.
Rhubarb is first of all, not the colour of rhubarb. It's a nude gloss, blessed with peach and cameo rose and comes out a very natural looking shade. Add in high gloss to the super high pigment. Usually I need to apply lip liner before glosses as my lips are pale, but with this gloss I don't at all. One or two dips of the doe tip and I'm a goddess to go.
Don't be put off by the look of it in the tube. It does look boring at first glance, but on the lips it's perfection. I disagree with those who say that this would be flattering on all skin tones. I don't think that many products like that exist. This is definitely a warmer shade and looks great worn with my earthy, smoky eye shadows and peach/coral blushes. I'd been hunting for a less dark lip gloss than the coffee shades I normally wear to tone down my look as I delved into brighter blushes, and this is the perfect gloss to do that. It softens my look while accentuating my lips. My mouth looks extremely full with this gloss on.
The staying power is so-so, a term I hate, but there it is. For this reason only, I will start wearing liner with this gloss, and perhaps powder (does this work?). It's not a sticky gloss and I'm never left with that awful white film around my lips and my hair does not get stuck in it. The scent is cosmetic, not fruity, which I prefer. It's very subtle and I don't notice it. I only noticed it to sniff it for this review.
Packaging, the most recent, is a rectangular tube with gold lettering. It's classy looking to match the otherworldly price tag. Yes, this is expensive. I have not paid more than postage for it yet, but I will when the time comes, providing it's still available. It's beautiful. This would make a lovely gift for any warm skinned ladies with fair to medium skin.
If you are looking for a lipstick in this shade, see Smashbox Delightful. It's slightly more pink, but almost an exact dupe, save for the texture of course.
This is the kind of versatile gloss that will go with many ensembles. I've worn it with black, white, grey, brown and khaki, which means I have worn it with my whole wardrobe. The shimmer is so micro-refined (had to use a magnifying mirror to see it) that it's perfect for daytime, but it is powerful and glossy enough to make high impact at night time too. I can't say enough good about this....so I will stop now!
Edit March 30/09. I rarely wear this anymore, though I do love the shade. I find it a bit too creamy and it smears too easily. I wish it was stickier so it would adhere to my lips, not slide all over my face when I sip coffee and eat. It's for days of "non-consumption" and just smiling pretty, but who wants to live like that?

I love this color! Color: muted, medium rose brown. IMO, flattering to most skin tones. Texture: smooth, slightly sticky, which to me means it's going to last a good while, and it does. As for the texture of the "crystal" glosses which contain shimmer, there is no annoying gritty texture. Scent: very light, airy, slightly sweet, I can't really describe it, but I only smell it when applying it & about 1 min. afterward. Packaging: Very elegant, long slim tube with gold colored accents, like it.
Oh~ dumb, but I really like the little 'click' it makes when I close the top, I want to keep doing it but I'm afraid I might ruin it. It rivals bubble wrap. :o)

I'm really mixed about this. I got this from a friend, and I really wanted to love it because the colour was just so pretty in the packaging, like a MLBB kind of colour. However, when I wore it it looked a lot brighter on my lips than in the tube! It looked reddish, and I was pretty sad, and I suspect that's because I'm too fair for the colour...My guess is that you'd probably have to be around NC/W 25 - 30 to wear this nicely....And also rhubarb is a warm colour, so if you have really obvious cool undertones, this is not for you. It was such a pity this didn't go on me really, because I really love everything about this range of glosses, from the packaging to the pigment intensity (yes rhubarb is really pigmented!) to the shine, and to the smell even. Because I hate to see s go to waste though, I try to make this work by using it sparingly over a clear balm - I find it makes the colour more sheer and thus less obviously red/warm, and it seems OK when I do that. I'd like to try Tearose next, since I think it's sort of like Rhubarb, but a LOT cooler in tone, more mauvey instead of brick reddish, and would probably look better on me. But I really love the quality of this range of glosses though...

Oh how i love these glosses. Rhubarb is a nice no fuss lip color. Very natural and flattering on me. Like a pinkish-brown color. The texture is nice and smooth. Great pigment payoff. Doesn't get goopy. Looks really shiny (without all the glitter). And smells sooo deliciouuuss. Love it. Looks good with any outfit or makeup look (on me). Just slather it on and go. This would be my second favorite next to "Almond". They're wonderful

on me, this lipgloss looked orangey peach. i bought it based on the reviews hoping for a MLBB, but it just wasnt that (for me). also, i am somewhat pale and it looked way too bright. i thought the texture was quite nice, very creamy. i cant give this lipgloss a bad review because of the color, but i just thought i'd chime in and say that it lookd orange on me. sadly i will be returning this.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! NC35 w/ dark brown hair & eyes, naturally pigmented lips - Rhubarb makes my lips look full, healthy, & super-pretty! I like to pair it with rosy cheeks & nude shimmery shadow/eyeliner/mascara for a simple but polished, glowy look. And even when the glossiness fades, it still leaves an even rosy stain on my lips. (I also own this Pure Color gloss in Copper & love it too - these EL Pure Color glosses are underrated. Great texture, staying power, and love the fruity scent/taste.)

Oh how I love Rhubarb.......the color the name.........but unfortunately I cannot wear it Im very very cool fair with pink undertones (1N1 in Lucidity)
I wanted to be able to wear this color so bad, so I can get away from all those pinks and mauves Im always wearing, but to all you gals that have warmer skin tones this is a stunning color. So I have to give it 5 lippies.

I got Rhubarb as a gift in a set of four which also included: Ginger Fizz, Raspberry Pop, and Quartz. Out of the four, this is probably the only one that I would consider purchasing. Rhubarb is way more pigmented and thicker than the other colours, but not sticky or goopy, which I love. The colour is very flattering. (I have cool toned skin). The sponge wand applicator is great. My one complaint is that I don't like the scent, but you can only really smell it when you're applying it anyways.

i think this is the ONLY color that i liked in the whole pure color line....the rest were too sheer or it did not look good on my MMM w/ yellow undertone skintone......this is definitely a YLBB shade that looks good on most people....i wont repurchase bcoz im not impressed with the lasting power, pigment or texture(reminds me of some inexpensive d/s items)...chanel glossimers all the way!!! for reference,im C5/C40

Rhubarb is a YLBB shade. (For reference, I'm LSF 6.5-7, or NC42). I received mine in a pack of 6 as a gift, and I homed in on this colour to try on first.
I didn't notice the scent, so I can't comment on it. The texture is perfect. It's smooth and silky and glides on like a dream and leaves a lovely shine without being sticky or thick. There's enough pigment to tint your lips a lovely shade without going overboard like some other wannabe nude glosses out there that leave me looking pasty. Gets the bingbing seal of approval!

This is a gloss that normally stays in my purse because it's a go-with-anything shade -- a nudeish/blush shade that reminds me somewhat of MAC's Lust Lipglass. It's a nice neutral shade and lasts well for a gloss.

This gloss is ideal for a kissable, soft mouth. It doesn't overwhelm, isn't at all sticky, has a nice fragrance (in my opinion but I know I tend to disagree on scent) and lasts quite awhile. It's the closest thing to brown that I can pull off, and is subtle enough to compliment nearly every look. If you're in the market for a versatile, beautiful gloss, Rhubarb's a clear winner.

rhubarb is a warm nude rose that is very pigmented but in a 'my lips but better' way. its a great longlasting gloss that's nice for everyday wear. i don't find it sticky, though it is thick enough to not feel watery or extremely slippery when on. it holds its color well and has great shine. i tend to lean towards slightly cooler shades, but i like the subtlety of this gloss, so i'll repurchase when i start to run low on it.

The texture of this gloss is excellent. It's long lasting, not significantly drying, and not sticky, so often a problem. It wears off to leave a slight stain on the lip as well, a good thing. I love the shade. It's a beautiful MLBB, so much so that I worked with a colleague who occasionally wore this, about 3 years ago. I have toyed with getting it ever since that time. Finally bought one and am so glad I did. I am CCC.

I swapped for this in GWP size and I am very happy I did. Beautiful MLBB in the rosiest, healthiest way possible. It's got a small amount of brown in it which makes look really natural. What I hoped Chanel's Praline would be look like. Good colour pay-off, nice scent, nice texture, no shimmer. Love it.

Rhubarb is a nice warm nude shade no shimmer that gives a healthy natural look. It has more pigment than the usual gloss. The texture is high quality: it is smooth, spreads easily and covers evenly, and it's not sticky.
