To my nose this is a very transparent fruity floral (freesia, peony, lychee) with some spice to it. I don’t get much rose, actually. It is a very fresh and optimistic fragrance, not bad at all, but I think it is totally forgettable. I would not be able to recognize it if blind-tested.

I'm very undecided about this fragrance....sometimes I enjoy it more than others. It's a musky, powdery rose but sometimes it develops into something that I'm not overly fond of....and turns a bit nasty smelling!

My husband wears the man version of this and bought me the girl version as a present a long time ago. I am not 100% sure he bothered to smell it first, because it sort of smells like a grandma scent to me and is very heavy. I have only attempted to wear it for winter evening things once or twice and just can't get in to the scent. Maybe it's musky or something, I don't know how to describe it... but it you prefer light, floral, fruity, feminine scents... this isn't a winner!

A resolutely rose fragrance
Soft and exquisite, sparkling and enveloping
A floral harmony of roses combined with fruity and musky notes
So that's what the bottle says. It's the EDT version in a sample form from a lovely MUA'er who is a true gift to the frag board. A lot of frags do not smell good on me because of my chemistry, but this one smelled a lot like my staple Lacoste Pour Femme.
The rose in it is very light and powdery. I smell a nice top note of white, possibly muguet. I also smell a greeny earthy smell that reminds me of fresh topsoil in a nice way. I don't smell much in the way of fruits, maybe a sweet date/raisin/fig/prune sort of smell. Maybe that's what smells sweet according to the other reviews.
If you love roses but at a distance and not a bunch of rose attar combined with an earthy green and white scent you need to try Sonia Rykiel "Rykiel Rose."

i fell in love with this on a trip to Paris... unfortunately i grew tired of it about halfway through the bottle. it's just *too* sweet with nothing else to it. it's pretty and flowery and lasts an amazingly long time, but definitely does not smell like roses!! nice fragrance, but it did begin to bore me after a while. =(

I bought this in Paris actually, where I tried it on b/c I had never seen it in the U.S. On me, this doesn't smell like roses at all. Rather, it is a unique, strong, sweet-flowery (more sweet than flowery) scent that doesn't fade at all (I have the parfum). It's probably not for all people b/c it is rather strong, but I love it. I don't wear it everyday though; I save it for times when I want to feel feminine and pretty (but not necessarily sexy). I switch off b/w this, YSL Baby Doll (more flirty), Chanel No. 5 (more classic), and one of the BCBG's (more throwaway/work).

I tried this at a perfume shop. In my opinion, it smelled nothing like roses and began to stink after a while.

Rykiel Rose is not the sort of rose I like best, but I still think it's very well done and will delight people who like their roses powdery, very soft, and gently sweet. It begins faintly on me, but it expands over the next 20-45 minutes into a lovely, powdery rose. The drydown has some amber in it, but what really comes to my nose (and I've no idea if I'm just imagining this or if it's truly part of the composition) is violet---a nice, soft violet. A modest application lasts 12+ hours on me. Very economical, too! Fans of L'Artisan's Drole de Rose might especially wish to scout for Rykiel Rose; they are not the same, by any means, but they could be good neighbors.

Smells like many other Rose perfumes but the price is so much more reasonable. Pretty and flowy. Feels like you should wear a skirt with this!

I bought this at Marshall's for $9.99, so I can't complain much!
I think this rose-based fragrance smells almost exactly like Stella, just lighter, but neither have very good staying power.
The sweater-shaped bottle is adorable, and I would purchase again.

This is a brilliant scent. It starts out knocking you face first into a bunch of fresh picked roses! It later warms into a dusky, earthy scent that just lingers and lingers.
The packaging is a funky unassuming glass t-shirt bottle that I am always happy to pull out in public when the need arises.
It's great value for the $$$ and it has been one of my daily scents for almost a year now....

I had so many high hopes for this product!! I really wanted to like it a lot...but unfortunately the only thing I love about it is its packaging (box and bottle).
The fragrance itself is so depressingly common...I love roses and I was expecting (after reading very positive comments on this fragrance) this to be pure roses in a bottle, instead I got a fragrance that smells like a million of others out there (flowery)...quite disappointing...I wanted to try the other Sonia Rykiel's perfumes but now I'm not sure I will...I might want to look for some samples first and then, eventually, buy the full size.
