I don't think those early reviews are very helpful as the product has been changed since then. This review and the other recent ones have really been for the mineral matte eyeshadows.

Stila's mineral mattes are probably the best I've ever tried. They are simply amazing. The colours are nice, pigmentation's good, texture is alright (not super buttery like some of their others, but that's not necessarily a bad thing), and best of all, the staying power is ridiculously good. As I mentioned in my review of Sajama, I've been earing this eyeshdow currently for 36 hours straight (not intentionally) and it still looks good.

I highly doubt they'll disappoint you.

I received this eyeshadow in Tolima as a GWP. I really like the satiny texture and rich but natural colour, and can imagine it would look gorgeous on the right person but find that I am not competent enough with eyeshadows yet to make this colour / style work for me. Rating price on how much I could get this for online.

I bought this Stila eyeshadow during stila warehouse sale. I just pick anything that i want w/o tested or tried it. But when i back home, i found out total disaster from this eyeshadow. The color payoff is bad, i have to use udpp and adding and adding more color to get a better pay off. This is totally different with their regular/shimmer eyeshadow.

Yes, this matte shadow is matte. Yes, matte shadow requires some brush skills. But the classic, back to organics look I get from these mineral shadows is so timeless and definitely worth it. I've accumulated a few of these now, so I can provide some colour descriptions and texture comparisons:

Illimani - Rusty brown (soft surface, pigmented)
Kamet - Taupe mauve (hard surface, sheer)
Champara - Beige goldenrod (hard surface, sheer)
Sajama - Grey dust (hard suface, sheer)
Makalu - Black soot (hard surface, pigmented)

I like Stilas shadows as they have so many beautiful shades. I wish the pans held a bit more product for the cost, but I can live with it! It can be an obsession to have all of them! I don't find myself reaching for them daily anymore, but I used to use them always. They do last a good long time on, don't wear off easily even with my super oily skin. Very good selection of colors, so they are easy to wear and blend more easily than any other shadow out there.

Ok, I like Stila's shimmery shadows a lot more, but their matte ones aren't too bad. But if it comes down to it, I would probably purchase a MAC matte eye shadow instead of a Stila one. Only thing is, the Stila ones go so well with some of their other shimmery shades.

IMO, Stila matte shadows just suck-they are dry and chalky-the light shades don't show up and the deeps go on eneven and streaky.
