Out of all of the lipliner a I have tried, Currant is my favorite! It is perfect for fall or when you want to deepen a color. It is very useful right now with the ombré lips trend right now. Even alone this color looks great! I don't know what I did before buying this color, I have found my holy grail!
Age: 36-43 Skin: Dry, Olive Hair: Brunette Eyes: Hazel
This is an absolutely gorgeous color if used correctly. Do not be put off by how dark it might appear. It is a deep plummy/wine that will make olive colored skin toned brunettes come alive. It is best used with a light hand--line the lips, BLEND the color lightly to cover and create a "stained "effect. The dolor is so rich that I prefer to not use a lipstick with it; but a gloss is absolutely beautiful. I am using Guerlain's KISS KISS lipgloss over it, and have had total strangers stop me and ask me what I am wearing, including sales associates at Sephora. The liner gives brunettes the depth of color that they need, and the gloss lightens/brightens the face to keep you from looking harsh/goth.

I really like MAC liners. I got Nightmoth but it was really intense so I got Currant. Sigh. I'm so in love. It's not a serious as Nightmoth but is the perfect color for my purples and burgandys and pinks. I think this is a must have for darkskin girls.

I have been using this lipliner for over 10yr. I love it, don't ever discontinue CURRANT.

5+ lippies if it were possible!! I am so GLAD I bought this. This works for all purples and like someone said below, all dark reds! This is definitely a MUST-HAVE STAPLE. I love it, although I found out that I already have a liner from MAC, that I bought AGES ago, that's almost IDENTICAL to Currant (Cremestick liner in VELVETELLA)... side by side swatch, it is basically EXACTLY the same unless you reeeaaally compare and study them. .. and even still, it is still hard to tell the two apart (unless you had a magnifying glass or microscope!). It's like a 99.00005% MATCH, I would say that Currant has a LITTLE more of the "red wine-ish" color in it (they both do but Currant has it a bit more, IMO).. . .. but that's about it. So my advice is, if you have VELVETELLA (Cremestick liner), DO NOT go out and buy this because it's the SAME THING! It's all good though because I love and use them BOTH now! :-)

went to MAC yesterday.. my MA friend did a VV look on me for fun... kind of a mash up of malifeicent, dr. facillier, and the evil queen (it was awesome!) anyways for my lips she lined/ filled them in with currant and then put violetta on top BEAUTIFUL! i was sure either would look right on y nc15 skin but it was amazing. then when i got home i added hot house lipglass on top... even better ;)

I fell in love with this color the moment the SA showed it to me on her hand. This is like a black cherry/berry/plum color. It is soooo pretty it can go with anything, especially those funny pink colors we need to help add work to. I see this lasting me a long long time. Will buy again when I run out if they still have itl
This has become my HG, I dont want any other reddish/berry liners. This looks awesome with Lancome Love it Lipstick or Macs Speed dial lipstick

this is a good product, as i love mac lipliners. a dark port wine. however, i have moved beyond that dark lipliner phase so i would not repurchase. it looks good with desire (l/g or l/s), pop mode, and colors like that.

I'm NW20 and purchased this item online. I didnt realise it was going to be so intense. Because the product is so dark its very patchy when applied. This stuff almost looks black when you put it on, way way too intense for me. I probably will return this.

I love this shade! It is as others have stated a tad lighter than Nightmoth which is my other favorite. It is creamy which makes application effortless and has excellent staying power. A beautifully rich, dark burgundy color. UPDATE: Although I love this, I stopped buying it as I've found a cheaper alternative at Sally's Beauty Supply. Try Palladio's retractable liners in Eggplant or Black Berry for a fraction of the price.

Bold color for me. I was more attracted to deep berry shades in the late 90's/early 00's I think. That aside, the color goes on smoothly. Same shade on lips as it appears in the pencil. Paired w/a berry lipstick, you have a sultry look for a night on the town!

I ADORE this liner
It definitely works for darker skin tones (I'm caramel colored) and like many of my fellow MUA members mentioned, it's definitely versatile.
My fave thing to do is line my lips with Currant and then cover them with Benefit's her Glossiness in "Who does you work?" for a winey sexy vampy lip color..
I get compliments everytime ;)

This was my first MAC liner and I've loved it ever since. It is a beautiful deep wine color and can be worn with just about any shade lip color. I've used this with pinks, reds, and berry colors and get a unique look every time. Also, as the review before me noted, I think this works best for darker skin tones. I'm NC45 and this is always reccomended to me at the counter.
*Update* I'm NC45 and was just incorrectly color matched when I said NC50

I Love current. Well let me start buy saying current is a great shad for people with color in their skin. It will not look good on everybody and neither will any other color. I love it , I have been using it for years I wear it alone and with other products and glosses. Please do not listen to the reviews of people complaining about the color, all colors are not made for everyone. The great thing about MAC is that you can try before you buy, if you are buying online you are taking a chance. All my friends of color wear it from the lightest shade to me (I am the darkest) and they all love it... and Chessnut by MAC is loved just as much.

Wow...cant believe Currant has such bad reviews. I dont use it everyday because it is dark but its a lovely wine cranberryish burgandy color. It's very versatile because it is so pigmented. I put it on the outline of my lips and blend, blend, blend it out then add lipglass or lipstick in whatever shade....It's a beautiful color and I would repurchase. I'm already on my second one!

Currant is another color I've had in stock for over 7 years. I've bought it several times and will continue to buy. This is great for CCCs and DDDs with olive- caramel - dark cocoa skintones. It's a radiant plum/ deep wine color that can be very versatile and used with an array of lipstick colors from purples, to pinks, to browns. It is very bright and will get lots of attention. I don't use it everyday, but it's definitely a color I like to keep around.

I bought this liner to go along with Media (lipstick), because I wanted a dark, rich, winey and defined lip. The SA recommended Currant and while they do go well together, Currant lip liner totally bleeds after a couple of hours. Not pretty! Strangely enough, Media by itself doesn't bleed on me. I'm keeping it though, to get into the little corners of my mouth where the lipstick can't get to. Won't repurchase.

I bought this because I had this sudden "urge" to own a purple lipstick, and I need a liner to go with. I bought this with Cyber which BTW I haven't been able to use as it is WAAAY too dark!! I tried to use Currant with another "purplish" lipstick and found that it turns reddish after a while, and I wasn't impressed. Will stick to Chestnut.

I am warning you that Currant is super dark. This should be the first thing that is said when describing such colors. Nobody ever told me exactly how dark before i purchased this online. The color swatches are not accurate. Currant is actually THE darkest lipliner from MAC. It is a very dark wine almost goth in my opinion. Please check this out before buying.
