Old style elegance, surprisingly sparkling and completely without a heavy oriental base. Wouldn't know it from the notes, but it's very elegant and classy without smelling like it has an appropriate age group. Anyone with the right attitude and dressed properly can wear this. It's strangely happy for an 80s scent, too. Up beat, classy and attractive.

I was looking for this, and I wanted to find the version by Houbigant, which is discontinued, not the newer version by Dana, which I hear isn't as good.
I finally found it for $35 in a local store, and I wasn't disappointed. This is a scent to wear on any day, in any weather, any occasion. It is floral and feminine, but not so overly sweet that it will offend people in an office or professional setting. It will simply give you a feminine aura. It has a subtle woodiness in the drydown that give it a warmth. Honestly, it smells like one of the older perfumes, which I feel are far superior to the newer creations. It smells the way "perfume" should smell: feminine, floral, soft, slightly powdery, subtle, and warm.

Nice bottle. But the contents were disappointing. I sampled the edp and to my surprise got a heady, almost overpowering bouquet. Which wasn't what I was expecting at all. To my nose this is a robust floral-aldehyde with some lavender and a sharp green note. The overall effect in the opening is too intense. It failed to develop and the floral ingredients weren't given a chance to reveal themselves. It did improve with time once the woods and musk finally took over. But its lack of subtlety means it's a low scorer in my book.

At first I thought this was smelling like YSL Champange, an old fav of mine but now that is gone and it is just foo, nothing notable.

I was mighty delighted that I got this opulent-smelling perfume for such a cheap price. Though described as flowery, Demi-Jour is not heady. It has a definite warm, woody aroma to it, courtesy of cedar and sandalwood. I wanted to give this 5 lippies, but I had to take 1 off because of strong powdery drydown. Overall, very lovely and comforting.

I am so delighted that I found this scent again. I remember when Demi-jour first came out I was charmed by the bottle and packaging. The scent is just as fabulous- well blended floral with green notes, lavendar, moss, lilly of the valley and other fun stuff. It is definitely not a modern scent, but still light and fun. The only problem is that the juice can 'turn' quite rapidly. Lasting power is decent. I am not in the mood for Demi-jour frequently, but it makes my day when I decide to spray it on.

Very beautiful bottle contains a lovely floral scent that seems to work for most everyone except me. On the other hand, most florals don't work for me. The scent is light and almost effervescent, but there's serious sillage going on with this one. The drydown includes a definite Juicy Fruit accord that other reviewers haven't seemed to notice, so I believe the loss is mine.

Demi-Jour is a lovely fragrance by Dana/Houbigant. The first few notes, which are quite fleeting (gotta sniff fast), are so pretty, and the drydown of Demi-Jour is very nice as well. Stays light and florally with a touch of green. But not too much green. Just right, in my opinion. It reminds me of Quelques Fleurs in many ways, another favorite. Demi-Jour is pleasant and light-hearted throughout. I may come back later and give it a 5, but for now I'm happy to give it a 4. The more I wear it, the more I like it. The packaging is exactly to my taste, and the bottle is just beautiful. It's a good, inexpensive fragrance to add to your repertoire if you like floral aldehydes with a chypre twist. 4+++/5 ********Update 6/25/05 Just recvd a 5 ml bottle of the pure parfum. It's okay. I think I prefer the EdP instead. The parfum is darker but nice for a "cheap thrill."

First I want to say that for the price they charge for this on the web(I got mine 1.7oz for $14.99 at scentedmonkey.com) it is worth getting just for the adorable and very elegant bottle. I was surprised at how beautiful the csent is. Warm, floral and just so feminie. I have no idea why Quelques Fleurs is more popular. This fragrance is way better. This is the type of fragrance that will make men swoon. I'm kinda glad it is not so popular this way I can get it dirt cheap and smell like a million dollars. And I know that no one else will be wearing it.

I will admit that I initially purchased this EDP, unsniffed, purely for the cute round bottle.
However, I was not disappointed with my purchase. Demi jour is a beautiful multifloral that goes
on sweet (yet not too sweet) with a sparkling lavender top note, then transforms on the skin leaving a wonderful light, woodsy, yet powdery trail.

Effervescent, elegant, vibrant, feminine.

Fresh green floral, drying to a soft, slightly powdery, woody finish. Top notes of violet, greens, aldehydes and bergamot. Heart notes of rose, orris, lily of the valley, jasmine, ylang-ylang and heliotrope. Base notes of cedarwood, sandalwood, musk and moss. I HATE sweet perfumes, but this one is exactly right. Not cloying at all. Very elegant and classy floral with very good staying power. Retails for $150, but I've found it as low as $19.90 on the internet. Also the bottle is an elegant old-fashioned globe of cut glass and topped with a silver-toned cap with an ornate "H" carved into it. Beatiful to smell and beautiful to look at.

I have found these notes on one of the online perfumeries: top notes of bergamot, lavender and lily of the valley, middle notes of jasmine, ylang-ylang and orris and the base of sandalwood, cedar and musk. The fragrance starts off very sweet, almost overbearingly so, but mellows out on the skin into a pleasant trail of what some think of as "the scent of expensive perfume" with its familiar drydown, feminine and comforting. Not the most original composition out there, but certainly nice and suitable for occasional wear.
