I'm spoiled by super fast top coats now. Alas, there is no going back. This is a more old fashioned kind we just used to call "clear nail polish," back in the day when doing your nails meant alloting half of that day immobized so the dang stuff would finally dry.
But this still serves a purpose. I like to use it to thin out too goopy thick polishes. It leaves the polish less opaque, more like a "jelly" type look.
Works well for that since its cheap and easy to find

This is horrible. Top coats are supposed to seal and protect nail polish, but this causes my nails to chip far more than what they do without any topcoat.

Worst top coat I've ever tried.. It bubbles up during application and takes literally 3-4 hours to try completely.

So I bought this because, i wanted a top coat that would help make my nailpolish last longer, but nothing to expensive because i don;t really care about my nails (weird since i like them to be painted all the time)
BUT ANYWAYS OVERALL:
First time I used this, i thought i loved it, because I didn;t notice any cracks in my nails and it lasted about a week without chipping.
Second time i used this there was some cracks in it, still lasted long
Third time i used it, terrible! cracks, it chipped easily, etc
so i was thinking, why was it that, the first time it was perfect? but the other times it began to crack and chip. And thats when i noticed it was because how I applied it.
The best way to apply this is if you are using two coats of nail polish, wait till it is COMPLETELY DRY and then apply it.
I gave it 3 because well...its shiny, inexpensive, and if you apply it right, it will be useful.

I could summarise this top coat in one word: AWFUL.
It applied perfectly fine for me and looked lovely until the next morning when I put on my gloves and bits of my (lovingly applied) nail polish started falling off just as I was leaving for work.
It has also left hairline cracks in the polish and my nails now look a mess.
It would probably be better not to use any top coat than this one. It's a waste of money.

When I first put this on I thought I would really like it; sure, it makes your nails look super shiny but after a day or so I noticed that my nail polish was cracking. Threw this out right after I noticed it.

I thought this was a steal. I don't *usually* do my nails, and when I do they always chip anyway because of doing the dishes and everything else, so I didn't think this caused chipping any more than I would without. I think it's really shiny and cheap and dries fast. For me, that's good enough. (I didn't get any cracks.) I suppose if I really do my nails more often that a better top coat would be worth it, if it really keeps polish on, but I feel that's an impossible task and definitely not worth tons of money to try to achieve. So for me, for now, this works.

I purchased this when the WalMart I visited did not carry my NutraNail top coat that I normally swear and since it was only like $0.93 I figured I wouldn't have anything to lose. I will say the first manicure I did with this product, I did see the hairline cracks and ridges after about an hour and was extremely disappointed. However, while reading reviews o found that most people who used it and actually like it, usee this product in conjunction with drying oil. I decided to try it with my Sally Hansen Insta-Dry oil and it worked great! I just applied the topmcoat, waited for 1 minute and brushed the oil on. No ridges, no cracks. It leaves a beautiful shine and dries very fast and hard. The bubbles people are mentioning are either from shaking polish excessively or applying thick goopy layers and not letting them dry.

I would apply this on top of my nail color and it would get these small bubbles underneath it, and after a few hours, IT WOULD CRACK!!! My entire nail design would look ghastly, for it looked as if there was an earthquake on my nails. Then, as the day goes by, it chips. Another day goes by, the shine, and top coat seems as if it's not even there anymore. Like, it had thinned a bit. And the brush is way to thin for me. The only good thing about this is that it goes on shiny. And then the rest happens.

This polish definitely lives up to its name of "extra shiny". It's the shiniest top coat I've ever used. It's under $1 & I'd definitely recommend it if you like your nails to have that "wet" look. It's not the most long-lasting topcoat ever, but I typically change my nail color every few days, so it's not a big issue for me. However, if you're looking for a topcoat that doesn't chip, I'd find something else because you can only get a couple days out of this one before it starts chipping & cracking. You get what you pay for.

Stay away from this product!! I bought this to use as a clear polish over bare nails. Unfortunately, the product went on very bubbly and looked horrible. I tried to use nail polish remover to remove the polish after about an hour and it would not come off! It left a horrible film on my nails that I had to painstakingly scratch and peel off of my nails. I'm hoping this didn't do any lasting damage to my nails. I have used other NYC nail polishes without any issues, but will never try this product again!

This has got to be the worst top coat ever! I've bought a lot of NYC nail polishes and they work fine, so you would think the top coat would be serviceable too. After you apply it, it seems to start making the nail polish crack soon after and the nail polish chips off in big chunks! I'm not really sure what the problem is with this top coat because I haven't had this problem with the NYC matte top coat.

Lesson learned--even in a pinch, DO NOT use a 90-cent topcoat over a Chanel polish. This NYC stuff is the worst! It was so globby and thick, but even after trying so hard to evenly apply it, it left hairline cracks all over my nails. I would not recommend this to anyone, for anything. No topcoat would be better than this; it totally DESTROYS your manicure! I knew NYC doesn't have the best quality (I once bought one of their polishes that was missing the brush), but figured this was clear, how bad could it be? Ugh, dead wrong. Don't buy this!

This was TERRIBLE :( I used crackling nail polish, white and pink, and then put this ontop. Great shine. But about a couple hours later it formed cracks on my nails, and, then morning time the next day, it was chip city. This happened on all of my manicures. Also, after a month and a couple of weeks, it got so goopy, and thick, there was no turning back. It's in the GARBAGE. I don't reccomend, and WON'T be purchasing again.

It's sad that the majority of the reviews reflect my own personal opinion, but it is quite evident to me that not all top coats are created equally!
I had no idea that top coats made such a big difference in the performance of nail polishes, but here I am, stunned that chunks of nail polish chips off my polish, sometimes hours after application!
If it works well for you, go for it, I know there are a few redeeming qualities; it's dirt cheap, it has a nice consistency, it dries quickly. But that's it.
I am so disappointed. It's not like I don't use NYC polishes, I do, I use them all the time. But I cannot get over how poorly this topcoat performs.

I'm such a top coat junkie. Since I don't care for the famous SV, I'm always on the hunt for something. Boy, this top coat is really terrible. The Pros: 1. provides a shiny finish 2. dries fast.
The Cons: Within hours, random chunks of polish goes missing. LOL I could be just sitting watching tv and notice hunks missing just hours after I painted my nails. I think if you LOOK at them, they will chip. Don't buy this. The price was seriously a steal for a buck but so not worth it.

Awful. Just awful. It does what it says, it’s really shiny and goes on clear as a top coat. However, it’s a mess to apply- very sticky and goopy and blobby. This of course messes with with your polish if it’s not completely dry.
Will not be buying this again, I’ll stick to NYC’s other top coat.

This dries really quick and makes my polish super shiny, BUT I notice the next day there is hairline cracks all over my fingernails. And then it just makes my polish chip even faster. Ugh. Back to searching for the perfect topcoat.
