I got a sample of this from a fellow MUAér. I never used MAC pigments before so this was my 1st time putting this on! I paired it with Mac beauty marked and nylon for a smokey eye and it looked really good! The texture is really blendable (more so than any other MMU eyeshadow I have tried).I love it and will use it over and over again!

I really like this color. I got a sample on thebodyneeds.com and applied it over my eye primer. It goes on so smooth and looks smooth and beautiful on the eye with one layer. I kinda pat it on with my brush and I really love it. I didn't know it was discontinued...darn! I also lightly applied it over a matte grey shadow to add shimmer and in the inner corners and I loved how it opened my eyes more.

This one MAC discontinued. I think it has a great color payoff and blendability. It's more a grey pigment instead of silver, but a nice grey.

Sooo...I've been looking for a dark, gunmetal-type silver that has zero blue tones (to replicate a runway look) and read the reviews her and decided to swap for a sample. Got it as an extra thanks to the excellent kjhymn. It has a pleasingly dense texture that's almost creamy and imparts a nice, metallic sheen rather than being sparkly or shimmery. I didn't really need to use a base or even Visine to make it "stick" (I have dry eyelids, by the way) and it blended beautifully. Unfortunately, the color is definitely a blue-toned silvery steel on my NC25-ish skin, and not suitable for my purposes, though it'd work well for a traditional, black-and-grey, smoky eye look. Ah well--the search continues.

This silver is good on me as long as I don't smudge it back too much. If its blended too thin it can have pale blue undertones which don't seem to flatter. Otherwise, depending on how I wear it - wonderful. When used with setter and a fine brush its excellent for bringing attention to an area (such as centre lid lash line and inner corner of eye).

Why, oh why MAC did you discontinue this pigment? It is the perfect silvery grey with no a hint of blue (unlike MAC Silver Ring, which this has been compared to.) Silver Pigment is the THE only grey that doesn't turn blue or purple on my C7/NC45 skin. I was able to get my hands on a sample a while back and have somehow been able to use this sparingly because I adore it so much. The texture and blendabiliy is excellant and it's very easy to build the color. Of course, I would buy it, if I could get my hands on even a 1/4 of a jar. I would snatch it up.

Another one of MAC’s discontinued gems. Great color payoff and blendability. A remarkably fine texture and adheres well to the skin. It’s not quite what I would call silver, but more of a very dark, metallic, almost steel grey. Looks great paired with MAC Black Tied eyeshadow for a smoky eye look! Fret not, this looks almost identical to MAC’s Silver Ring eyeshadow. I am glad to have snatched this up while I could!

Silver pigment is a medium-dark gray imo. Looks beautiful when used for smokey eyes or wet as a liner. I wish that maybe there was a little bit of an irredescence to it to give it some zing, but besides that this is one of the better mac pigments.

This is a medium gunmetal grey on me, with the usual ultra shimmeryness of a MAC pigment. I love colors like this, though I have several so I probably don't need a full size one. Wears well, and I've lately used it as a base for Old Gold to get rid of some of the orange tones it usually has on me.

Shade Medium gray with silver shimmer

Texture Loose pigment powder

Performance Usual smooth M.A.C. pigment texture.

Endnotes Hmm, this is a great shade! It's not too silvery and not too dark. Quite pigmented too. This looks best when layered with something else, like blue -try mixing silver with other colours to give your eyeshadow more depth.

My colouring
Yellow-beige Chinese Asian NC35 with jet black hair and very dark brown eyes.

It was a perfect metal grey, although for me, I have to apply a bit sheerly because I have small asian eyes =/. Makes a great smokey eye, and shows up as a nice contrast to my skin (nc30/35). It's a bit dark for my taste and adds much more drama than I would like.

Only problem I have with pigments is that they tend to majorly crease and look hideous, so I've been experimenting with bases that will keep that from happening. ugh.

I have a feeling its how I apply this, but Silver looks bleargh on me. I apply this over my entire lid lightly, but the effect was... panda-eyes-like, not sexy at all (as I was hoping it to be..) Will give this another shot and update my review after!

I looked high and low for a gunmetal-coloured eyeshadow and found it here. I hated the fact that it came in loose form instead of pressed but it was the gunmetal colour I was seeking.

I found it tricky to apply without some ending up on my cheeks and nose; it certainly took alot of practice and patience to get it right. Once I got it on, I got the look I wanted.

The container is my pet peeve. They should make the pigment containers similar to the loose face powder containers: a jar that comes with a sifter so you can get out only what you need. That container does need work.

It is a fun product. I mixed a bit of this pigment with the Clear Lipglass to get a cool lip look only I can pull off!

As an eyeshadow, it's pretty good. As a MAC pigment, it's a disappointment. It's not half as silvery as I thought. I would describe it as a gray with some shimmer. I use it to tone down the brighter color. Works well that way, but I don't use it alone.

I am updating my review of this product. I originally gave it low marks. I went to the MAC Pro store in Vegas yesterday and bought this pigment. I don't know if they changed it or it's a different version since I bought it at a Pro store but this pigment looks completely different from the old sample one I got years ago. The color is a pure silver, high shine. It's not muted at all. It looks like tin foil. I applied it on my hand without water in the store and it was a high shine silver. There is no matte to this. It's absolutely beautiful. I can see myself using this to layer over other colors or to pair it with a smokey eye. The consistancy is very smooth and blendable. It's a powder but it almost feels creamy when on the skin. I love the new look and consistancy. One of the best pigments I own from MAC and I have about 30.

This is a gunmetal silver (not metallic), perfect for a smoky eye look. Even tho it's $18, but MAC give you a generous amount of product and they just last and last.

I love MAC pigments! I just found this color not to be as Metal silver as I wanted !!! Other than that, beautiful texture, WAY BETTER THAN THEIR EYESHADOWS! YOU ACTUALLY GET COLOR ON YOUR SKIN FROM THESE and for a long time, too!

WOW, this is a gorgeous dark grey filled with silver shimmer, very gunmetal with some subtle blue-ish undertones to it. It makes a spectacular smoky eye or during the day a lovely liner. It goes on very smoothly with perfectly distributed shimmer. The tiniest bit goes a really long way, so this jar will last for ages and ages. I love this pigment!

I love this. It's a medium shimmery gunmetal grey, and IMO, the perfect grey--not too much lilac, blue or taupe undertones. I love it much more than any of Stila's grey shadows for a smokey look. Also, it's much more useful than you think. My skintone being very yellow, some warm colors end up looking straight up orange on me. For example, as much as I love the idea of Coco Beach, it's too warm. Easy solution is to mix it with Silver pigment, or apply a sheer layer over top. Gorgeous taupe. Actually, sooo many pigments look great mixed with Silver--Green, Blue, Fuchsia, what have you, it seems to make the color look more subtle, complex, and sophisticated. It's definitely one of my faves, but I think they should rename it "Grey" pigment.

I wanted to love this, but I ended up hating it. It's is such a beautiful gunmetal grey, but it made my NC35 skin turn green & bruised. Gave it to my sis (who is NC30) and it looks fab! I was so bummed about this pigment until I picked up the Silver Metal version - 10x better yay! I guess you really have to try before you buy. :/
