Scrubby, smells like a beach-y cocktail - Sandstone is a fun novelty soap, but definitely not HG (for me, at least!). I find the sand to be a little much, but as these are made fresh individually, it just might have been the batch that I received. Overall a decent cleanser.

Finally loving one of the LUSH products I ordered! Was very disappointed in some of the others, but this one is good. It has a strong lemon/citrus smell in the package which is softer once used in the bath with water. It's great exfoliate as well as refreshing to your skin. It's marbled looking with white creamy insides. So I'm guessing that's where the moisturizer comes in. Pleasantly surprised by this product. I've sliced mine so it will last for quite a while. Would definitely re-order since I don't have a LUSH store near me.

HOLY GRAIL ALERT - Once again, Lush has done it with this brilliant little sand-studded soap that exfoliates like nobodies business. Normally I use homemade sugar or salt scrubs on my skin, which work well, or simply use a loofah in the shower to get my skin soft and smooth. I have NEVER had softer skin than I have right after using Sandstone soap for the first time, and I saw drastic results immediately - and I exfoliate nearly every time I'm in the shower. This powerful little citrus sand bar completely eliminated the bumps/clogged hair follicles all over my lower backside and the back of my legs - the bumps I've had for years, figuring they were just genetic and wouldn't ever go away. After rubbing a few times with sandstone, they were gone, just like that. Just like the wind. Just like my wallet after I re-visit Lush and purchase every exfoliant they make.
The bar works very well, and I like that it can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be. The bar has a really lovely citrus-y lemon scent (not at all like "dishwashing liquid" in my opinion) that doesn't really linger on the skin - instead it leaves you smelling fresh and clean, not at all weighed down by heavy perfumes. It is a little drying, but shouldn't we all be moisturizing after a good shower anyways? Great for use all over the body, especially as a pre-shave exfoliator. Has TRANSFORMED my skin, and with immediate results like these, I can feel good about throwing away every half-bottle or tub of old scrubs in my bathroom.

I dont know if this is a new soap or if I just never noticed it before, but I'm really glad I found it. Its very exfoliating. It contains sand, so dont mash it on your skin or else it will hurt. I gently rub it all over so that it doesnt rip my skin off. As long as I do that I have no problem with it. It smells like a toned down version of sexy peel, which is fine because I also love sexy peel. Just dont mash this onto your skin and you'll be fine.

The soap is drying and smells like a dishwashing liquid. The sand itself wasn't really good for any exfoliation since I didn't want to use it in a combo with overly drying soap. I won't be repurchasing.

Sandstone is the BEST soap/exfoliator combo imo. It has alot of citrus notes in it, similiar to sexy peel (another fav)!! I was recommended this by the S/A at LUSH because my skin is dry and it was the beginning of summer, so I wanted something that would get rid of dull dry skin. I love how this soap actually has sand in it. I use to buy soaps/gels that would claim to exfoliate, but this soap is just on another level! As far as it making a mess, I don't really notice because I use this in the shower not while taking a bath. The S/A cut me an end piece that was loaded w/sand and I love it!!

Does it leave a mess in your bathtub? Yes. Do I care? Not even remotely. No clump of sand laying by my feet could overcome the awesomeness that is Sandstone. It saves my life in the summer time. It's a fantastic exfoliant. Yes, it's grainy, but it's not for your face, and, quite frankly, after six months of my skin being shut away in heavy clothes, a serious sandy rubdown is exactly what my ass needs. I find the sand to do a better job at exfoliating than sugar or salt, as they melt in the warm water, anyway. It smells lemony. Not particularly fabulous, but pleasant enough. I have repurchased already and will continue to. I think it's a great product.

ok here are my likes and dislikes as simply put as possible:
exfoliates brilliantly (not as rough as a pumice stone but not as wimpy as "exfolaiting beads" in face wash and stuff)
didn't leave any residue or mess in my tub (no tile on the floor or non-skid daisies, though, so my tub is totally smooth anyway)
the packaging is refreshingly low maintenence. i just cut off enough for a few baths and that way the soap doesn't get germy or melt too fast. the majority of the chunk i bought is still wrapped up perfectly clean and fresh.
the smell isn't too heavy and doesn't interfere with my preferred perfume/conditioner scents.
just one... the price. It made me nervous when I bought my tiny $8 chunk. I ended up loving it, but I think i'll switch between this soap and scrubby gloves as soon as I find a pair that works like my old ones.. i definitely won't waste this soap on my feet, either. I just feel like a glycerin soap with sand in it shouldn't cost this much.

I like the smell of it and the soap but I like the old version of it better with the sand just on top. (I could scrub my feet better with the old version.)

I can't find one thing wrong with this scrubby little buddy of a soap. I LOVE the sand mixed throughout the bar. The super lemony smell is lovely but doesn't linger much. I like to scrub the crap outta myself and in the end I am soooooo soft. Rinses so clean and I never find sand in the bottom of the tub after showering. Its not much to look at compared to most LUSH products, but I can look beyond its ugliness. This soap doesn't melt as fast as some LUSH soaps can which is always a bonus. This gives me amazingly smooth skin <3.

The name Sandstone is what it is.
It's an extreme exfoliant because there is SAND present in the soap.
I assume that they don't use fine salt or sugar is because it will melt.
I do love my sandstone though. Great for my feet and my legs :)
The scent might turn some people off as it smells exactly like Pledge floor cleaner. But I do like it :)

This is a great soap for my oily skin which tends to get congested easily. My back, neck and chest tend to build up dead skin cells, so this was great for exfoliating those regions. This felt a little too rough on my legs and thighs, where my skin is more sensitive. For those who have dry skin or are sensitive to exfoliating products, this might be a little too harsh for you. This isn't moisturizing, so it helps to use a lotion afterward.
I love lemons and really enjoy this scent, but it does smell a bit like household cleaner, which I personally don't mind. A of Lush's scents are are hit-or-miss for many people. Whenever I go to Lush, I am repulsed by some scents and don't know how anyone else can find them pleasant.
Overall, I am really glad I bought this soap. It's not an everyday, all-over soap for me, but rather something I will use every few days when I feel like my skin needs it. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

This soap is amazing! I got it as a freebie from my Lush and it worked it's magic exfoliating my skin and leaving it squeaky clean. It also exfoliated and removed my dry skin on the heels of my feet. LOVE IT!

I loooove this soap!!!It has been my body skin saver!!!Especially for my crazy super dry legs).A real keeper, specially along the summer months!
I'm a beach lover and I really enjoy the feeling of the sand on my skin...but it could be a bit harsh sometimes! So, rubbing caution is advised!Except for that, this is an amazing exfoliator.
The citrusy, zingy smell is amazing (but it doesn't linger that much afterwards) and since I always purchase a big chunk of soap, it last me a very long time.
If you forgive the little mess it will make in your shower, the result it's totally worth it!!
Another LUSH must have for me!Highly recommended.

I am not a fan of this soap for one reason! All the sand. I understand that is the point of this soap but I do not like how messy it is in the shower. The smell is amazing so IF (and that is a big IF) I were to repurchase this it would be in a store where I can choose to have the sand cut off.
Age: 19-24 Skin: Normal, Medium Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown
This is a bit gritty for me and the smell isn't that amazing. I am not wowed

Wow. I can't find one thing wrong with this scrubby little buddy of a soap.
I LOVE the sand mixed throughout the bar. The super lemony smell is lovely but doesn't linger much. I like to scrub the crap outta myself and in the end I am soooooo soft. Works great for the ass and thigh area where I always seem to be bumpy and dry. Rinses so clean and I never find sand in the bottom of the tub after showering. Its not much to look at compared to most LUSH products, but I can look beyond its ugliness. This is now rivaling Snowcake for my favourite LUSH soap. This soap doesn't melt as fast as some LUSH soaps can which is always a bonus in my books. Definate repurchase.

I'm a big fan of lemony smells, but this smells like straight up Pine Sol. And scrubbing myself with sand? No thanks. I take showers after going to the beach to get sand OFF my skin as quickly as possible... why on earth would I want to wash with it? There are way better options for exfoliators (sugar, salt). I definitely wouldn't buy this again.
**Edit: I eventually used this as a foot exfoliator which worked decently. Still hate the smell, though.

I love it. It's the best soap to wake up my feet from hibernation. When I take a footbath I leave it in hot water for 15 minutes while waiting for the water to cool and after soaking my feet for another 15 minutes I use my Sandstone soap bar to get red of dry patches and calluses. Because of the warmth the sand and soap form a nice lather that feelss sooo nice on my feet. In combination with my trusty volcanic foam my feet are now ready to rise and shine for the spring to come.
The lemon smell is another plus of this soap bar. It puts me in the right mood for spring.
