I would barely recommend this mascara to a middle schooler! Why in the world does this mascara have such a great reputation? At CVS this mascara has about 6 different versions in the Maybelline mascara section, which baffles me b/c Maybelline has incredible mascaras that are significantly better such as One-by-One, Falsies, and Define-a-Lash. I've used 3 different versions and didn't like any of them. It neither lengthened, separated, or volumized my lashes! Seriously, can I get at least one of these things?! Don't waste your $5!

I got this for like $6 in a pack of two, and no one wants the other one! lol.. With so much rave, all I have is rant.

It's wet, it smudges, it's clumpy, it sucks. No volume, no length, just (like it says) black, and it's such a mess to remove. And the tube gets pretty damn messy too because of the wet build up. The only good thing I have to say about this is that it would be a good quick touch up. I guess.

Either way, I do not, do not, do NOT recommend this. It's one of the worst mascaras I have ever tried.

I actually do like this mascara. The trick in using this mascara is that since it is wet you can keep on building onto the lashes to give that intense dramatic look. To keep my curls in, I use the arch part of the mascara and hold it at my arch for 5-6 seconds and voila' it keeps my curls in. The color blackest black really does give me an intense almost rocker sheik look. It isn't pricey and that is something that is great about it. Yes, many people don't like to keep reapplying more coats but this mascara really is a good one, its all about applying it. I apply the mascara by coating from underneath the lashes and over the top as well and then underneath once again. Also, keeping a light hand and quickly coating the lashes will give you the look you desire. Just don't wait between coats for it to dry then to reapply, then it will clump and be flaky.

I've seen makeup artists n magazines rave on and on about this product hence I purchased it but honestly I don't see what's so good about it! My biggest problem with this mascara is that it smudges like crazzzzay!! What's more it doesn't hold my curl or lengthen! This mascara really doesn't do anything for me...I'm currently layering my other mascaras ontop of this in an attempt to use it up!

This might be my favorite mascara.
I have used it for several years, comparing to other ones and it is the only one that really won't clump as the contitency is fluid and thin.
I buy the Greatest Black with the curved blush as it is very detailed and cover every single lashes, even tiny ones.
It is really dark, which I love and so cheap compared to others.
It makes my lashes longer and fuller. The color intensify the vloume.
I recommend to use an eyelash curler before, before any mascara indeed, it makes a difference.
I wish that it didn't dry that fast though as the fluid texture is what makes it really different than other clumpy mascara.
Last a max of 3 months.

This product smudges because it's not waterproof. It only defines and lengthens (possibly), but not volumizing at all. I like the curved brush because it's easier to put on, but not good at all to wear out unless you want panda eyes.

I was indifferent to the original Great Lash mascara I bought years ago, but when I heard rave reviews about it, I bought Blackest Black waterproof. Big mistake. Sure it was really black, but it was really heavy and clumpy on the lashes. But taking it off was a nightmare!! Not only did I look like I had 2 blackeyes, but after a longggg while later I went to bed with mascara clumps that wouldnt come off. yuck

This was my very first mascara I started with years ago when I barely got into makeup in my teens. Its a well known brand that tons used so I picked it up and took it home. I didnt know better at the time so I assumed it was doing its job. I curled my lashes first then applied it. It made my lashes really dark but clumpy after 2-3 layers. I had to use a safety pin sometimes to seperate my lashes. A thick formula that did make my lashes look darker and fuller but also look really fake and clumpy. Since then I've switched and have been using max factors lash perfection, truelly love it, wouldnt trade it for the world.

This is the worst mascara I've ever had. I don't even know why I bought it... seems like it NEVER dries. You have to bascially keep your eyes semi-shut for five minutes after applying this.... it's ridiculous. I will never buy this again.

Ive had my eyes on this mascara for ages as all the mags boasted its brilliance. my friend bought it before i did and her lashes looked amazing when she had it on... soooo seeing as it was on 50% off i decided what the hell and bought it(about 7bucks aud).

when applied there was no clumps what so ever.. i was impressed. didnt do too much else for my short asian lashes but. and within a few hours it smudged. no longer impressed.

my friend has naturally long and curled lashes(bugger her!) and it looked amazing on her so for all you lucky gals with long lashes.. go for it:)

nice packaging but.

This mascara is probably the worst one I've bought. I had read in magazines it was good event though it was inexpensive. Forget about it! This mascara feels like it never dries, so I you even touch your eye for one second, mascara will all over your hand and under you eye. That was enough for me to neve ruse it again, what a waste of money!

The only thing good about this mascara is the packaging. It looks so stylish and modern, you just have to buy it. Unfortunately, it is now just sitting on my make up counter looking good, because I can't bring myself to give it another chance. I have tried so many methods of applying it because I desperately want it to work, it just looks so cool! But alas, I don't think it's going to happen. It leaves my lashes seperated, but in a bad way - they look sparse and skinny. And short, because for some reason no matter how I apply it, it will NOT lengthen, it will not, it will not. Sigh.

I recently rediscovered this in my makeup bag and i love it. it made my lashes darker and longer, but doesnt give much volume. you have to have a little control while putting this on being that it is in a weird ink form. not too great to wear when its humid, it runs easily. i'd definately repurchase this!

Haha, at these reviews. I bought this product thinking it was going to be awesome, lengthening, volume ect. Even though it didn't say any of this. I did get drama with the blackest black definitely. It just didn't hold my curl very well. They kind of fell flat after a while. Which is usually the case with most drugstore brands and MAC...don't buy any mascara from MAC, they're horrible! Oh and Stilla! After pairing it with my pretty average Nars Mascara though, it seemed to work good in pairs. I had dramatic black lashes from Maybelline and some thickening and lengthening from Nars it also made my mascara last longer/curl ect. As an everyday it really depends on how much mascara you need to be satisfied. If your naturally a little dark and thick on the lashes than I can see this being a good daytime mascara for you. If your lashes are barely there, the black will help but they will fall. And this depends also if you perspire a lot. As for the smudging I didn't really get that but if it's not waterproof than most likely if you perspire, it will smudge. One more thing, I have the vertical wand and not a curved wand. I do think after using your mascara curler a curved wand would help enhance your curl and keep it curled. So I recommend the curved wand.

I tried this product about 3 years ago, and i wasn't immpressed at all. However, i went through a "natural" phase, and I had wanted to try this mascara again. I really did like it. It makes my long lashes dark, and a little bit thicker. Someties, thickening mascara just makes my eyelashes look shorter, but i really think this mascara elongates them. I didn't expirience any smudging or flaking, and I find this really holds a curl well.
However, i am a big big fan of lush, false eyelashes, so i only use this on my no-makeup days or when i'm lazy.
