I don't want to regularly use dandruff shampoos because 1. I don't like the smell and 2. I like to only wash my long, straight hair a few times a week to make it look like it's in great condition and to keep my color longer. But by skipping washings, my scalp would sometimes get oily and flaky. I use this product ONCE a week, and it's perfect. Never a single flake the whole week long. I alternate it with a dry shampoo (Ojon) and whatever sweet-smelling concoction (usually Aveda something) and my hair looks great.

So, I finally tried this not only b/c my flakes looked like a snowy winter day but b/c of the reviews I read here too. The original H&S didn't seem to be improving my problem...bummer. First w/ the Intensive I did see a HUGE improvement on the very first use YAY! but unfortunately early on in the shower I thought this shampoo stinks! It left my hair smelling smokey. It almost smelled like when you're at a bbq and by the end of the day your hair smells like smoke (best way to describe it). My favorite Pantene conditioner still didn't mask the awful smell :( I also noticed that my hair felt sticky and gummy as it started to dry. Maybe I'm the only one but even though this stuff works I'm not sure I want to continue using it. All in all yes it does work but I caution you that you may have the same results I did so save your receipt.
Update: I tried using this again and it really dried out my hair. I still got that gummy feel to it as it air dried. I passed it on to my hubby and kids.

This is my favorite dandruff shampoo. It lathers really well. I leave it on my scalp for 3-5 minutes before rinsing it out and it has been very effective. It is slightly drying so a conditioner may be needed if you have dry or long hair. I have short hair and alternate it with H & S Sensitive formula so I don't need to use a conditioner often.

Takes care of the flakes and not as harsh on the hair as Nizoral--can be used every time you wash. Still strips color, but I guess there's not much that can be done about that. This is the only head and shoulders that has worked for me, and besides Nizoral nothing else did.

This fantastic shampoo completely banished my dandruff in a single use. I use it every other washing and I no longer worry about scalp flakes at all. The selenium sulfide formula seems much more effective than the standard treatments with zinc; Aveda's Scalp Remedy did nothing for me, but this stuff works great. It smells like Pantene Pro-V to me, not stinky but not great. A bit drying and coarsening as all dandruff shampoos are, so pair it with a good conditioner. Far and away the best dandruff product I've ever used.

Works wonders on a dry scalp during winter. My hair looks much healthier. I use with the Dry Scalp conditioner. It has a nice scent as well.

Great dandruff shampoo, when you need extra care for your moody scalp.
