One of the best things I've ever used after straightening my hair. I spray a little mist on my hand or on my brush to work it into my hair, either way works for me. You dont need much of this product! It will leave your hair greasy looking if you use too much, so use as little as possible. It may be a bit expensive for the size of the bottle but it really does last a long time. I love it!

I was looking around in my huge amount of hair products and came across this one. I didn't really fix my hair today. I just let it dry naturally and combed through it, which produces waves, but sometimes those waves have a touch of fly-aways or frizz. I thought, "Hmm, I'll spray a little of this on and see what it does." It actually did smooth my hair. It got rid of most of my fly-aways and added shine. It does have a hold factor, but nothing that you can't comb or brush through. Great product though it might be disc. now.

There is really no need for a message board, all you need do is look for products i LOVE that work, they will be discontiued within seconds and you will begin a mad hunt combing the earth for a few more drops. Yes, it's drying. So is everything else, if you're head is void of any moisture no matter how much you slap on there. I love this stuff and they've already discontinued it so I can say its great and i have already found a TOTAL underground site to get it from. I have used 900 products in the meantime to try and compare and they all leave my hair totally flat. BDD

i use this product only on humid summer days because it does seem to dry my hair out. i am impressed with how well it works to lock out humidity. i spray it over dry hair as the last part of my regime. it keeps my hair straight and doesn't allow any waves to reform. it even protected my hair when it was rainging out. the only thing that i don't like about this product is that the product keeps drying in the spray nozzle and i have to clean it out before i use it. i would rebuy this but i save it for humid summer days.

A stylist recommended this spray to me since I straighten my hair on a daily basis and my hair is pretty fried. I'll admit, I was surprised at how drying it was from alcohol being one of the main ingredients, it's more like a hairspray than a conditioner or serum. But I figure my hair is damaged enough from heat styling and this spray is supposed to protect it. I spray it on my dry hair in sections and comb it through before I straighten it. My hair stays straight and frizz-free all day long and gives it that piecey look that I love.

You don't get as much of this product as I would wish, but it sure is worth the price. It doesn't ruin my flat ironed style with water like most hairsprays do, it keeps it in place, yet it's still moveable. I love that it's water free! If you put too much on it will be hard to brush out and can build up, but the remedy for that is to use a light hand, and hold the bottle 12 INCHES AWAY- this really makes a difference. Love it.

This spray really does work, but it is very drying. I would spray it on at night while wrapping my hair and in the morning I have a hard time combing it out, because my hair would be crunchy and stuck. When I tried to comb it out, my hair broke off.Maybe next time I will try it while flat ironing my hair, taking the advice from a previous review.

this product isn't good. like a lot of you, i have thick wavy hair, and i flat iron it every day. well, i usually don't buy stuff from salons, but we've hit very humid weather and i had my 19th birthday coming up, so i wanted my hair to stay straight. after i straightened it, i sprayed it on and literally saw my hair poof up and go curly....and crunchy! very disappointed...and they won't let me return it!

A little goes a looong ways! This products works wonders in the south Louisiana humidity and heat. My hair tends to hold the style a little better and this product provides lots of shine! Will keep in my beauty kit..

As some posters point out, there are a lot of ways to use this wrong, and most people don't need to use this every day.

I have fine, thin curly hair (past my shoulders) that I straighten about once a week. I live in Chicago, and most of the time I have no need for Lockdown Spray. But if it's raining or 100% humidity and I know I'll be outside for significant periods of time, I incorporate Lockdown spray into my styling routine. After I've dried my hair, but before I use the flat iron on it, I spritz it lightly with Lockdown Spray, then I flat iron it. The Lockdown Spay combined with the heat of the flat iron seals the hair so the humidity and moisture has no effect on it. I don't need a serum or silicone spray as the final finish if I've used it. Unlike other posters, I haven't had a problem with crunchy hair or greasy hair, but I usually use a leave-in conditioner before styling, and I'm not using a lot of it.

One note...Matrix spray nozzles seem prone to clogging, so you may have to unscrew the top and rinse it out with warm water to get it working again. Of course, make sure it's completely dry before you screw the top back on.

One of the worst products I've ever used. This spray has alcohol to dry out hair, and it makes hair super cruncy! Even Pantene and Suave sprays are better, and they are at least cheap.

WOW. Im in NYC now and the summer nights here are TERRIBLE, 100% pure humidity. This is the first product that KEEPS my hair straight through out my nights on the town. I use my T3 Tourmaline ceramic iron with other straighting products that are great, but those only get my hair straight, after a certain amount of humidty...my hair starts to frizz and get wavey and its jut terrible.
Not anymore. This product really does LOCK OUT water/humidty. I walked about 15 total blocks last night in high humidty and my hair was poker straight when I came home. Never happened before and it was because of this Matrix product. I was really surprised at the great results. ONE DOWNSIDE....it seems to be pretty drying. I will only be using this for the humid nights.

i thought it worked great. of course i need to use in a really high humidity day to be completely 100 percent sure. i used the other day and it was pretty humid though! it had rained all day and my hair stayed straight all night and i was at an outside festival.

definately repurchase-it has alcohol in it so only use when its humid outside, not every day!

if you have a good straightener like a chi you dont need it. mine broke :(

Love, love love this stuff. It keeps my hair pin straight even in rain and humidity.

After straightening it, you spray it in like hairspray and go.

Its the worse product i've ever used. I am so serious about this. I've been tricked into buying some low end crap that just hasn't worked but this spray was terrible. Its suppose to protect your hair from heat. So i sprayed it on before i flat ironed my hair. It made my hair stiff and sticky. I'd like a piece and flat iron it and let go and the section i did would stick together. I ended up buying the equilvent by biolage, and it worked much better, not at all sticky and really did protect my hair. The matrix stray gave my hair a coating, it was gross. never again.

its been raining in S. CA,, and i used this after flat ironing my hair (i also used sleek.look iron smoother and conditioner),, and needless to say,, after a rainy day, my hair was frizz free, straight and basically it looked as it did when i left the house. i did protect my hair from getting wet throughout the day,, but the moisture in the air didnt affect the style. i like this product, it works, it keeps the style, keeps my hair smooth and shiny and soft. i use very little so it'll be awhile till i would need another bottle. TIP: spray on hand and run through hair,, ive found that directly spraying on hair doesnt spread the product evenly and can cause the "grease" look if too much is applied.

I am on the fence as to whether I would buy this again. I think just the shampoo and conditioner are sufficient for achieving a smooth and sleek look. This is the final step in the four-step program, but I feel it is superfluous and if you have a tendency towards dryness, steer clear, this containes a lot of alcohol and neither my dryish fine hair nor my very expensive extensions like to be dried from an alcohol overdose. I do like this new system from Matrix and the packaging is adorable with very good smoothing properties, but the key to using this system with success is moderation, you will get a better result and patience, could be a Godsend for those who battle frizz everyday!

I was on the fence with this product, but have finally figured out how to use it in a way that works for me. After flat-ironing my hair, I spray a few spritzes of this on my palms and work it through my hair. This seems to work really well - it tames down frizzies and gives a nice shine. I found when I sprayed it directly on my hair it got a bit too crunchy, but this technique is working well. I think it is helping keep my hair pin-straight and shiny throughout the day.

On the fence about this one. I don't think it really does anything that other products don't do--yes, it does give a little bit of shine and hold to my hair, but I'd be lying if I said it eliminates frizzies (or prevents them in humid weather). I'll use up the bottle I have, but won't repurchase.

After reading some of the awful reviews on this product I felt compelled to add my comments. This is NOT a hairspray or finishing spray. My hairdresser showed me how to use it to keep the frizzies at bay..and I live in humid Texas. This spray is best used in conjunction with a heat styling appliance -- flat iron or curling iron. I spray it on a section of hair and immediately curl that section with the curling iron. It totally gets rid of frizzy and flyaway hair..and it STAYS that way all day. It is NOT greasy. It leaves my hair sleek and shiny. I just purchased my 2nd bottle as I can't do without it now! Give it another try.
