I have nothing new to add. I can only concur that this opened with a blast of roses, and softened into more roses. There's a little of the mustiness and spiciness of pot pourri too.

It's nice and true and would be good for a rose lover, but it doesn't feel like "me".

I'd love to have a beautiful blue LV bottle, but no luck so far. Donna was too many spices + the always-unfortunate sour rose note.

to the person who asked about where's the carnation I do get clove, carnation and clove are related chemically somehow and are like each sides of the same coin or something like that. . .

just sampling this and it's impressive easier to wear than garofano . . . I think an adventuresome man can wear it but. . . if the violet keeps on coming maybe not... anyway I'm reviewing prematurely but am very impressed just now!

This is a glamourous, rich and loud fragrance for a "diva". Ultra-feminine and opulent rose-carnation composition with some green notes... IMO -- it is difficult to wear it if you hesitate to wear rose fragrances. It starts very, very strong on rose... then it settles into a classic rose-carnation, a bit spicy and quite green, too -- very feminine -- composition, with a strong 'vibe', very good sillage... it is seductive, alive, rich. Sooo very Italian! Beautiful fragrance (and a very high quality) if you can wear it.

I've been going through samples again, trying to do my review duty and decided to try Donna again. On my skin, it basically smells like baby powder. If I try really hard I can detect a faint floral far into the dry down, but the overall feeling baby powder. If you love powdery scents, this one is quite nice, but powdery scents like Loukhoum or Habanita are much more interesting.

What can I say about Donna? It's Italian. It's name means "woman' in Italian. It is Gina Lolabrigitta in a bottle. VA VA VA Voom! It is gorgeously feminine and strong. But not overbearing. IMHO Donna is Lorenzo Villerosi's masterpiece dedicated to womanhood. Roses, green notes, wet notes and it is so lushly feminine. Not for the faint of heart woman. It makes you feel confident and so beautiful. Only to be worn by the type of woman that has captivated her lover -- mind, body and soul. The woman that bears your children, and still takes your breathe away everytime you hear her voice or get a glimpse of her. This is just the type of perfume that a lover would bask in the residual whiffs of, long after his lover has left his bed...

There must be a case of bad chemistry here cause this smells horrific on me.It's extremely stale and metallic and somehow i could'nt associate it with a normal woman ,it would be more suitable for Frankenstein's Bride. As i love carnations i must rerport that i didn't detect any.Donna starts with a rancid blast of roses. After 10 min the perfume becomes headier and sweeter,a bit too much even for the dedicated floral lovers.the whole combosition reminds me of flowers dipped in batteries liquid. The drydown is the most welcoming part a sexy sandalwood but it comes too late....

Va-va-voom! Donna is an intensely feminine fragrance, a well rounded rose with spices and a hint of violet in its opening notes. I find it more of a carnation scent than a rose - I assume this is because of the clove - although the rose comes more to the fore as the scent dries down. It is quite a green, fresh scent, with the barest traces of geranium, spices and woods on me. It's I think it's best worn in the evening, although it's certainly beautiful on a coolish day! Next time anyone asks for a recommendation for a sexy scent, this is the one I'll recommend! I love it - it's a 4 1/2! Edited: I've upgraded this to 5 lippies as it's just perfect for this early autumn day!

I love a good carnation scent, my favorite to this point being Floris Malmaison. I am so curious as to how everyone (including me) smells carnation in this lovely Villoresi fragrance, as it is not listed as a note. I see clove is high up there and I am wondering if it is the impression of carnation we all smell(i'm thinking the clove and blackcurrant leaf give that aroma). I do smell a lovely velvet of rose aroma upon opening and also violet leaf sneaking in and out. But this truly has a wonderful fresh carnation impression to it for a while. The drydown is spectacular on me. If you love rose, this is quietly hidden in here, if you love carnations - try this beauty out. It's not listed in there, but you sure can smell them :) EDIT 7/24/06: I cannot get enough of this fragrance, it is spectacular and even though I own well over 300 scents, this is truly the most satisfying one I own. won't use the HG word, but yah, it's all that.

I received a generous decant of LV Donna in a swap. I tried it a couple of times but I couldn't fall in love with it. It's a rose/carnation scent and reminds me of old-fashioned fancy guest soap, the kind your grandmother would have, which is what makes it somewhat charming for me. But it's the last fragrance I'd ever reach for. It just doesn't excite me enough.

This is mostly a spicy carnation to me, with a touch of green and some powder in the drydown. It's darker and more mature than many other carnation scents I've tried, and also more complex. There's an underlying spicy darkness to this fragrance, something inexplicably mysterious and elusive and simply gorgeous. I didn't like this fragrance that much when I first tried it - I found it too green - but now it's become one of my favorite Villoresi scents along with Musk and Teint de Neige (I didn't like that one at first, either!). FBW. Notes: bulgarian rose, rose de Mai, coriander, clove, star anise, ylang ylang, iris root, cyclamen, lilac, geranium, narcissus of the mountains, jasmine, violet leaves, black currant, spices, and aromatic woods.

Donna, which means "woman" in Italian, was just not that pretty on me,
not womanly, not much of anything really, maybe a bouquet of old flowers. Any carnation here didn't much show up on me. If you want carnation, then Caron Bellodgia or Floris Malmaison.

I had great expectations on this one!! It starts out like "Teint de Neige", one of my favourite fragrances, powdery and delicate (with a more pronunciated rosy note). I was almost buying an entire bottle when.... it turned on a horrible, acid, metallic smell of dead carnations. If you want a powdery/rosy fragrance, try "Poussière de Rose", by Les Parfums de Rosine.

I find Donna to be a beautiful scent. Powdery but mature not like baby powder and the carnation part smelld great, wich caught me by surprise having tried 2 other high end carnation perfumes and being dissapointed by them, I didn't have high expectations for Donna. well I was pleasently surprised, I really like it!

Donna is the Christian Lacroix of the rose world. It's a wonderfully exuberant, spicy rose with violet and a substantial dose of carnation to liven things up. A very original take on rose and an absolute favorite of mine.

I didn't smell much rose, so it must be carnation then... this is quite a heady floral on me, a bit too "in your face" and could easily be overpowering. I can't see myself using up the sample. I prefer softer fragrances so I'm going to give this one a miss.

How many fragrance sample vials does an mua'er go through in order to find something that takes them the way this fragrance takes me! - I have never been a carnation lover in fragrances, nor have I been a really BIG rose fan - and here I am....virtually speechless at this carnation/rose fragrance - it's simply that this is the scent of a morning fog that's laid to rest all night long in a flower garden - then, as it raises up to the sun and that moment of evaporation - the moment it becomes 'air' again~~~~

A beautiful powdery rose (agree smells like baby powder/oil) at onset which quickly fades (too bad) and becomes too spicy, green, slightly metallic, and "a in your face", heady rose. Overall too heady but for true rose lovers, this one's for you!

This is a lovely floral bouquet scent with predominant carnation notes. It has a slight metallic note which makes it unusual-- sort of a golden thread in it. It's very likeable-- possibly full bottle worthy. If you like carnation, this is a lovely addition to your collection.
