Am I in the minority here? I don't know maybe I got a sample of a dud but this to me and on me smells like a dryer sheet. Straight up bounce laundry dryer sheet. Over the top, cloying and pungent. So weird, I was wishing for more of a light Estée Lauder bronze goddess eau fraiche. Or maybe Jennifer Annistons summer perfume. Or anything remotely summery.

This fragrance has been around for the past twenty-five+ years and still manages to seduce me... It's a warm breezy summer fragrance, the white bottle synthetizes its spirit, and despite being overly sweet it never gets too cloying. Just perfect

This is my all-time favorite. You can't go wrong with this. I feel great when i wear this. Smells like summer and, of course, sun. Everyone just loves it. I have never met someone who didn't

Still my favourite. A risk free, light and soft scent. Not overpowering or heavy. No wonder it's one of the most popular fragrances. Sometimes I feel the need to try something that's a little more exciting but I always come back to this one.

I have had this for way too many years - and it still smells great. It doesn't last as long as it used to, however I got it in the '90's so I didn't even expect it to still be as wonderful as I remembered. This is such a great summer scent, like a mixture of the beach and old-school tanning oil. There is nothing, IMO, 'old lady' about this scent....and even if it was, I would still like it anyway. Sexy and a bit powdery, it is just such a warm and inviting scent. It also reminds me of good times when I was younger so I reach for this whenever I feel down just for the heck of it and it perks me right back up. Not sure if it is DC'd but if I could I would buy it again, even just for nostalgic reasoning.

I adore this perfume, in all its simplicity. I guess some people find this a rather unattractive bottle and therefor are less interested in buying this even before they smelled it, but to me the bottle makes sense. The scent needs just that, no fuss.

It's a lovely smelling, warm and musky scent that revives your senses when you spray it on. It opens quite strong but tones down quickly. There's nothing quite like it, I can always tell when someone is wearing this. It's sweet but not overly, and definitely quite sexy.

It's a great all-year round perfume, that's easy on the nose and generally quite likeable. You won't go unnoticed when wearing this one, but in a good way. It's not hard to like.

Try it. It's a hidden gem.

top note: Lemon, Orange Blossom, Bergamot

middle note: Orris, Ylang-Ylang, Heliotrope, Carnation

base note: Vanilla, Tonka, Cedar, Benzoin

I first smelled this fragrance when it first came out, in 1989. There was a lower choice of fragrances at that time, and every new product that came out was saluted as something special, new and different from the rest. This one, in particular, claimed to be safe for use under the sun, because it had no alcohol in it, and because it tried to replicate the smell of sun-warmed skin, long before all the dupes came out.
I was a teenage fragrance virgin back then and I was highly fascinated by Sun, and while wearing it I envisioned myself as an adult, fine and sophisticated woman with three or four kids and a rich husband strolling along a sea-side town street, like Nice or Portofino.
Twenty years later, I decided to buy a new bottle, and found out that that charm is still there, despite the unresolved dream of a sophisticated woman and so on...

I've always had a thing for this fragrance. It is very different - kinda musky, sweet and a bit vanilla-ish (clearly I'm not up with the terminology :-)). There is something powdery and fresh about it. It does have a slight antiseptic smell when initially applied, but this soon fades and it then becomes lighter and more floral. Sun is definitely a unique scent, not for everyone, but if you like it upon first whiff, chances are you will enjoy wearing it. I first smelled it when a friend bought it back from Europe many years ago and it remained on my mind, so a few years later when I was visiting Spain, I tracked it down for myself. Not your everyday smell, but a memorable break from the fragrance norm.

Overall a nice fragrance, nothing old-ladyish about it imo.
A warm, musky fragrance somewhat similar to Cacharel's coconutty LouLou, and Liberté the first 3 hours but more powdery I think, and heavier and more close to skin than Liberté

I wouldn't have labeled it a fragrance for summer at all, it's more of a year-round fragrance depending on the person that wears it.

The final whiffs of Sun resembles vanilla, amber and something berrylike - nothing like LouLou at all, but still a little similar to Liberté.

I'm on the fence about what I would have preferred to wear given the opportunity; Sun, LouLou, or Liberté - but I decided on Liberté as it was a longtime favourite on my wishlist.
UPDATE: Sun is too powdery for me the first four hours of wearing, and then it develops into something really yummy - unfortunately too late.
UPDATE2: I got a really good deal, so now I own a 75ml bottle of it - and right now, with a temperature around not more than 15 degrees outside it suits me just perfect. My bottle of Sun is not more than a pinch powdery, and imo I smell yummy wearing it for work :)
But I know I will grow tired of it sooner or later, strolling into stronger and heavier scents for fall.....like Spellbound or Cinema again.
Not upgrading Sun though.

I had to do a new review on this one, because now that I am older, I love this!
Its very strong at first, but it calms down to a very sexy/exotic/oriental like smell. It has a staying power like nothing else and a little goes a long way.
I love love love this scent. It has all the right ingredients for my skin. For sure will buy this over and over again.

Also love the simple and clean bottle!

I bought this without smelling it first , based on reviews. I was sooo looking forward to trying it ! summer ? beach ? sunscreen ?
All I smell is old lady . And cheap perfume . After a while it dries down to a bit less offenssive scent , not too bad but nothing I'd buy again , or want to wear . So yes , if you spent summers as a kid with grandma who was really really old and loved wearing cheap perfume , possibly had mothballs all over the house , it will certainly remind you of those times .....Not the way I remember summer . And , fortunately for others ( unfortunately for me ) this has great staying power Needless to say ,I will not repurchase

This is very sweet and incenselike; it straddles the line between hippie head shop and a high-end fragrance. One site I went to described it as a woody-amber. I am a bois person and an amber one, so it makes sense I love it so much. I can't even begin to describe its slightly soapy/slightly smokey originality. Wow! And it lasts. Although it's been awhile, maybe more than a couple years, since I've tried JS No. 4, I remember loving that too.

This does have a bit of that sweetish, sunscreen scent. But on me, it's also a bit musky (clean laundry) upon initial application, drying down to a warm, clean vanilla skin scent with the barest touch of...apricots? Or honey maybe? It is sweet but not cloying, and reminds me quite a bit of the Johnson & Johnson Jasmine & Vanilla baby powder, right down to the faint touch of baby powder. Also in the same family as Ava Luxe's "Citrine", though the latter is more citrusy (obviously), creamy and foody than this. (It's funny that I'm the only reviewer who seems to detect candyish notes here, but then, I do tend to bring out the sweet gourmand in fragrances.) Lasting power is pretty good. It stayed with me pretty much all day, which is unusual for a lighter fragrance. Overall, I like: "Sun" is a great scent for laidback days.

It is very warm and foody (very vanillic) in an addictive way on my skin only for first 5-10 seconds, then it turns cloying and plain. Top notes sparkle with full, rich Oriental aroma with lots of vanilla, but - as I sad - it unfortunately doesn't last on me and the drydown turns very bad. What a shame!

I don't know why I didn't buy this the first time I sniffed it since it's not the easiest fragrance to find here in the U.S., but I had no idea. Anyways,I finally stumbled across a bottle yesterday at a Marshall's store for only $20.00. To top it off, it's a limited edition "sparkling" version, with a clear bottle and tiny little gold flecks in it - so pretty! (Without totally making your skin all glittery - but it's great for summer.) It smells just as I remember - very warm, spicy, sweet,a little citrusy, very sexy, and it wears very close to your skin (meaning you won't offend someone across the room). And just like all the other positive reviews have stated,it's like a warm summer day on the beach lying under palm trees slathered in tanning lotion.(Not really a coconut scented lotion, though.) I really like it. I can't really distinguish any one note over another in this. Took off one lippie b/c I can't see myself wearing this ALL the time, but I don't wear any one fragrance all the time. The drydown is even better than the initial spray. Also, the lasting power is awesome. So awesome that I would almost rather spray it in the air and walk through it.

"Sun has been one of my top favorite fragrances of all times. On me it opens just with a touch of green and for change I like that, but then right away there is a burst of SUN with the most sensuous floriental notes mixed together just superbly. And the most exquisite drydown with golden ambery notes that seep through vanilla, mixing most deliciously with Sandalwood and Musk.... Also wherever, I've seen this fragrance advertised I noticed it mentioned that SUN, like the name would suggest it, is best for the summer nights and the outdoors... But, I love it in the winter when the BIGGEST, fluffiest snowflakes are falling and gently lulling in the air as if they were ornaments meant to stay in the air suspended... Sun is just perfect for days like that... I just love the way sunshine glistens like crystals in the snowflakes... JUST a little bit of MAGIC in winter!" EDIT: January 29th 2007 ~ Oh but my hubby loves this, he insists that this is one of my most delicious candy smelling fragrances. He finds it creamy and honey-sweet. My chemistry has changed a lot lately, and even that greenish opening is entirely gone now.

This would be in my top 10 list. My husband loves the way this smells so that's all that matters to me. :)It does remind me of warm weather and laying on the beach. One word ... Sexy. Now I am sure this does not smell great on all people but this works with my BC.
