I've gone through about 3 of their 3oz candles, and I'm not thrilled with them. I laughed when I read the label on the bottom of the glass that says "the best candles in the world". Not so!
They have very little scent "throw" as others have mentioned. I also find that they do not burn well. I've trimmed the wick, not trimmed the wick etc. it doesn't make a difference. The wax drowns the wick to the point where there is little to no flame. Even pouring the excess wax off doesn't help.

I have two of these candles. Tibetan Mountain Temple and Mexican Cocoa, and I love them both. They both smell great and burn for a long time. I love the fact that they are soy candles so you aren't polluting your home with toxins. The price is good and Pacifica has a large selection of scents to choose from. I plan on picking up several more candles in different scents to keep on hand for when these two are finished.

I have two Pacifica soy candles, both in the 5.5 oz glass jar, Hawaiian Guava and Tuscan Blood Orange. I have reviewed the Tuscan Blood Orange separately, so this review is for the Guava candle. I find the Guava scent true to the real thing. I don't really like how guavas taste, but the scent is indeed amazing! This candle has a strong throw. I can smell it in (almost) my entire apartment when it burns in the kitchen. It's great to get rid of cooking smells. It melts up to the edge so there is no waste. It's not cheap but not crazy expensive either. I would definitely buy again. EDIT: ok so I'm on my second Hawaiian Guava candle and it's not as good as the first. The wick is terribly off-center so it doesn't burn up to the edge and I keep having to push down un-melted wax into the pool, and the throw is weak. Disappointing, but I am not giving up on Pacifica quite yet.

I agree with the other reviewers about the "throw" of these candles varying widely. I bought the wood/resin package of three candles and here's what I noticed:
Tibetan Moutain Temple: absolutely fabulous fragrance, and good throw
Spanish Amber: beautiful fragrance, low throw
Sandalwood: not an outstanding sandalwood, low throw
I'm wondering if the pillar candles are the same? I like getting the soy, as they're cruelty-free and "clean".

Bought one @ whole Foods and it has been burning for 40 minutes.
I cannot smell it. I normally buy very high end candles (Fresh, dyptique)
and now I know the difference between a $20 and a $45 candle.

i have written a few individual reviews but will add to the thread here as well...
yes it cant be stated enough that the throw varies hugely. i am burning the Brazillian Mango Grapefruit right now and smell nothing. absolutely nothing. as i said in individual review, it may as well be unscented. i even held it up to my nose, and smelled nothing
burned the hawaiian Ruby Guava last night and the scent did release somewhat, but a different scent than what you smell in the pot. sort of like a jolly rancher - you decide if you like that or not...
burned Persian Rose the night before and there was a beautiful, soft rose scent that nearly filled my loft
Bali Lime Papaya: nothing, may as well be unscented
before that, tried the Mediterranean Fig and throw was quite weak, but still "good for Pacifica"
i still have a few more to try...
the Pacifica packaging is beautiful and elegant and they do burn well and leave minimal smoke behind. but if you are looking for a candle to scent a room or your home, forget these.
in my experience, Archipelago candles have had the best scent throw, MIND YOU, i bought mine before the packaging changed - the formula could be different now.

I own four of them so far. As earlier reviewers said, the scent "throw" of these candles varies wildly. Three out of four of mine were very good, though, with strong scent, so I will assume they are mostly high quality. I like the simple glass containers, and the colors of the candles are quite pretty. They burn with very little soot, but wiping the glass off is easy. They also burn very evenly. The boxes these candles come in are gorgeous with the art deco-style designs, and it feels like a crime to throw them away. For a 10 oz. candle, I paid $20, which is slightly less expensive than the other candles I like (Paddywax, 8 oz for $20, Henri Bendel, 10 oz for $25). I ordered mine from the Pacifica website after seeing some in a store. Orders over $60 got free shipping, and they were very carefully and neatly packaged in bubble wrap. I will definitely buy again.
French Lilac: very good throw
Egyptian Bergamot Rose: mild throw (but lovely scent)
Persian Rose: good throw
Wild English Clary Sage: very good throw

I adore Pacifica Candles. My favourite is Tahitian Gardenia, it always evokes memories of tropical holidays........ Anyway I have repurchased these candles many times but last time I was in Target the whole range was dramatically discounted so I stocked up on every single Tahitian Gardenia they had which was good. However now I'm wondering if they will be discontinued in Australia and that is an unfortunate prospect as I have no idea where else to buy them. I have used many candles over many years, Pacifica is definitely the best.

rivercat mentioned that ''throw varies greatly by scent.'' ....i found this to be absolutely dead-on. i bought a 5 oz MADAGASCAR SPICE in the little glass jar (not spectacular packaging past the boxes, which really don't matter much when you are burning the candle). ended up buying 3 more-- unreal throw & i enjoy the deeper/ nutty/ spicy/ chocolatey types as opposed to fruity, clean, etc. i burned this in my 12x12 room and the scent was so deliciously overwhelming that i opened the door & could smell it through the entire basement!
....here's the disappointing news: i blew half a paycheck (only a slight exaggeration) on 10 of the same 5 oz size in various flavors... and i can say that the CARRIBEAN SUGAR PUMPKIN has no throw at all. so on a pumpkin kick, i purchased a 4 oz pumpkin candle in the tin from bath & body works (slatkin) and it is kicking some serious pacifica butt!!
i also purchased pacifica's BOURBON ISLAND VANILLA, which i was pumped but now i am suspicious to try. if anyone can recommend a seriously stinky CHOCOLATE candle i would be thrilled! thanks!

I think Pacifica's soy candles are brilliant. They come packaged in a glass in various sizes, and the price is dirt cheap considering the pleasant packaging. I love the fact that the wax is coloured for different fragrances, and they look great anywhere in your house or desk. They burn clean and straight across (as long as you burn them correctly, because there is a technique to burning candles). I can smell them even if they aren't lit, but when they are, the fragrance permeates nicely through the house and goes upstairs as well.
I have Hawaiian Ruby Guava - this is the description : "The guava, one of the world's mosst widely used tropical fruits, symbolizes pure passion. The juicy pink flesh of the fruit has an intoxicating floral-raspberry scent and tastes like a blend of pear and strawberry. A touch of coconut and tart pomello rounds out this brilliant, sweet tropical blend."
I can smell the pear and berries when it's not lit, but when it is, I can also smell the coconut coming through quite signifcantly as well.
I also have Bali Lime Papaya : "The sumptuous fleshy papaya - has a sweet musky floral aroma and a flavour reminiscent of cantaloupe. The sparkling notes of precious Indonesian kaffir lime, mingles with lime blossoms in this complex and lush blend.
Realy like this one - a bit fruity but fresh at the same time.
These are availabe here in Australia at Target, but they don't have all the fragrances. I really want the Brazilian Mango Grapefruit!

I bought this in Hawaiian Ruby Guava. Pacifica's soy candles smell great but have absolutely no throw. I love their regular (non soy) candle pillars but sorry, this is not worth the money. I paid £13 for this and it was a total ripoff. Will not repurchase.

I love love LOVE Pacifica's soy candles. Yes, they burn amazingly cleanly. I find they last a long time as well.
I don't really understand the complaints about the throw, I like them just fine, but then again, I 1) live in an apartment, so the rooms are small and 2) don't like totally overpowering scents.
Pacifica's blends are just perfect.
And the packaging is beautiful.
If you're going to try these, definitely check out the soy candles!
My fave scents:
Moroccan Chamomile
Thai Lemongrass
French Lilac
Hawaiian Ruby Guava
Indian Chai
Mexican Cocoa
Zanzibar Cinnamon Almond (yes the spices are all great!)
Only one I didn't like was Mediterrean Fig

I'm a big fan of Pacifica and have tried most of their soy candles. Definitely agree about the scent throw, but mostly with the florals. However, the Tunisian Jasmine and Lilac candles are both pretty good.
I've found a lot of scents to be a surprise; Indochine is amazing and i thought I wasn't going to like it.....Atlantic Rosemary smells like old soap to me, and I thought I WAS going to like it.
The spicey scented candles tend to be the best; they also have a Bourbon vanilla that is absolutely amazing; sweet, somewhat buttery and strong without smelling like a cookie. Indian Chai, Zanzibar Cinnamon almond and Marrakech Spice are also worth the money.

I discovered these at Whole Foods and the scents are so delicious! I have better luck with the votives than the candles in glass jars that I've tried because some of them expand out of the jar rather alarmingly. The fragrances are wonderful in drawers and closets even if they don't "throw" much when burning. Current favorites are Sacred Champaca, Nerola Orange Blossom, Indochine, and Bali Lime Papaya. Edited: throw varies greatly by scent, unfortunately.

I wouldn't normally review candles, but these are the best! Picked these up at a local bookstore the other day...I've never tried this brand before, so I got these in the glass votive size, in Ripe Bartlett Pear and Wild English Clary Sage. This is my first time burning soy candles, and it's true that they're much less smokey. They're quite well-scented, yet the funny thing is they tend to have a stronger scent when I'm not burning them. After the first time I burned them, I can just let it sit in the room and the scent just fills the room--very nice. I think these are well-priced candles. The "throw" is mediocre (but good enough for its price) --the votive is enough to fill a small room like my bathroom, but not very detectable in the living room. I usually find standard vanilla, floral, marine scented candles "stinky", and these are very true to their name and...well balanced, I guess. I'll definitely be going back and picking up Mandarin Lime, Atlantic Rosemary and Blue Cammomile (I fell in love with all their scents and wanted to buy half the candles in the store!)

I found these candles to have no scent throw at all. I purchased a Mexican Cocoa candle and a Brazilian Mango Grapefruit candle and was very disappointed in both of them. Would not purchase from Pacifica again.

You know, i love the scents of these but the throw isn't great...so it comes back to that I love the scents. Try the Mexican Cocoa or the Thai Lemongrass. I am using the Bartlett Pear one right now and I can barely smell it.

Not all Pacifica candles are soy---many of their candles that are free-standing (pillars, votives, etc.) and not in jars are made of other wax. I can't comment about those, but soy candles, in my experience really do burn more cleanly, with a lot less smoke. Pacifica soy candles are no exception, and some of their scents perform extremely well for their price.
We've tried votive-sized glass containers of six scents to date: Sandalwood, Kashmir, Mountain Temple, Sugar Cane, Mexican Cocoa, and Thai Lemongrass.
Kashmir is okay; it throws so-so, and smells modestly of patchouli and lemon. Best for smaller rooms.
Thai Lemongrass is tart and lemony (duh!), also with a blah throw. Ditto Mexican Cocoa and Sugar Cane---I wouldn't repurchase any of these.
Mountain Temple is wonderfully rich and spicy (as is Mountain Temple soap!). Pacifica's website lists it as patchouli/incense, ginger, and orange, but I don't find it so incense-y. More just...spice. Nice throw.
Sandalwood has been our big winner. Nicely warming, and a good throw. We were pleased enough when it ran out that we repurchased in a larger size.
