I picked up this lip balm after reading it in the newest Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me by Paula Begoun and saw it was one of her picks in the Best Lip Balm with SPF category. I had been trying to find a decent lip balm with SPF that didn't taste like wax, wasn't thick, didn't taste awful and provided decent SPF protection.
This product is targeted to men but I picked it up anyway because of the recommendation in the book. It's a typical tube lip balm with a simple cap. The product itself was sort of clear and had a pleasant smell to it - nothing overly perfumed. It went on smoothly and wasn't heavy at all and didn't taste either. It didn't feel like I had to reapply constantly, though after eating and drinking it did feel like it disappeared a bit. Definetly my new HG balm!

Once again another blistex lip treatment failing on me. Made my lips worser than they were before.

I bought this because of it's non-shiny finish. I wear this under my matte lipsticks and it works okay. It feels soft and slightly waxy, and smells like apple. This is a good balm if you are looking for protection from the sun, not moisturisation. It's slightly moisturising, but not really enough if you have desert-dry lips. I'll keep buying this until I can find a better matte lipbalm.

Smells good and feels nice on lips! The sunscreen is a big plus.

Alas, alas, I fell for the packaging intrigue: "clear, not shiny"... "invisible microshield"... etc. It does live up to its word in providing a matte finish that doesn't look like you're wearing any lip balm. I'm not sure I need to take the natural look quite this far. The product smells like fresh pears, a plus, but is generally waxy, non-emollient, and sits on the lip surface without moisturizing. My lips feel drier from using it!

I really like this lip balm - it has a fruity scent, goes on smoothly, has SPF30, and doesn't leave your lips sticky or glossy. It's not extremely moisturizing, but for summers in the south, it does the trick. For winters I will definitely need something more moisturizing.

I really like this lip balm and I'm so happy that's it's broad spectrum spf 30. I wear it in the summer and winter time under my lipstick to make my lips nice and smooth. It has a very light sheen to it and moisturizes really well. Great product for such a cheap price!

I love this stuff! It protects and keeps my lips super smooth. I like it better than Almay's puretints in clear because it doesn't leave my lips with that whitish cast. Finally a lip balm with avobenzone that doesn't taste gross.

Okay, HG-worthy I think! I've been searching for an SPF 30 lipbalm that doesn't taste disgusting and I've finally found it, and it actually tastes good and fruity tasting... Not only that, but it goes on clear without white residue! As the reviewers below, I'm not entirely clear on the marketed for men angle (grey tube? fruity scent?) but I'm just thrilled to have found this! UPDATE: June 15/2005 -- since using the MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner Sticks, I haven't gone back. The Blistex Clear Advantage definitely had a waxier texture (sort of sat on top of my lips). The MAC TLC sticks are sheer, moisturizing, naturally tinted, slightly glossy, and MOST importantly I don't get sunburned (SPF 15, UVA & UVB protection). (I have extremely sun-sensitive lips). Blistex is very good in a pinch though, and I will probably return to it when my stash of the now discontinued :( TLC sticks runs out.

Finally got the Clear Advantage "man balm", what's so manly about it? It's berry flavoured for crying out loud. And you can smell it from a mile away. Furthermore, it's not nearly as matte as Blistex Herbal Answers. Does have a definite sheen. Still, i've found a good use for it. It works well over my CHanel Lip paints. Funny.

This *is* marketed toward men, but the marketing is somewhat ridiculous. Why would a man care that the tube is gray, rather than the usual Blistex blue or white? It's clear, but...regular Blistex is fairly clear, unless you're using a huge, goopy ton of it. And it smells like pina colada...not the first scent that springs to my mind when someone says "manly." That said, it works about as well as most Blistex products---pretty well---and it's cheap.

Great lip balm. I think it's for men, but I love it! It goes on clear and doesn't leave my lips sticky. It also has a SPF of 30 and smells good too.

This comes in a grey tube. It works well when my lips get so dry that they crack. I think this is marketed towards men but I like it. I also use it under my lipsticks in the winter.
