At the opening, it immediately reminded me of Youth Dew. However it tames quickly into a dark vanilla-ish, woody amber. It's OK and not without interest. However, at this price-point, I was expecting outstanding. ($44 for 1/4 ounce of oil)

This is for the oil: The first time I tried this, I was blown away because it smelled just how Luckyscent described it--as a dark fragrance fit for a femme fatale. I kept feeling that nothing I had in my closet was sexy and vampish enough to wear along with this fragrance. As it progressed though, the patchouli crept into the forefront with its drum circle getting louder and louder, and thus this oil made the most unfortunate transition from Barbara Stanwyck to Janis Joplin (not that there's anything wrong with Janis--love her too). I'd probably still try this again to see if maybe my chemistry could ever befriend Geisha Noir (pleeeeease!).

Seems like elegant smooth spicy amber at first, too much like patchouli incense as it develops.

I tried a small sample of the edp version. I liked the description of this as having a meditative quality. It is mostly powdery incense. From the other reviews, it seems like the oil version is very strong. The perfume is dense with scent, but the sillage is not strong. The amber is far less pronounced, and just shows up as a sweet amber-honey base late in the drydown. The perfume lasts forever. 12 hours later I can still smell incense on my wrist, as if I just dabbed it on. It is very pretty, but too linear for me. Maybe I am just not sensitive enough to detect other notes.

Packaging is a bit cheapy, but if this one works on you, it WORKS. (If it doesn't, it sucks.) This one works on me and even better on my sister. It comes out edible, gorgeous, wonderful. It starts as woods and resins, drying through almost opoponax (which is,yes, a bit powdery) and vanilla, drying down to tobacco-y sweet resin. I get an almost an leathery note, too. Please note that neither of us much like powder as a note, and sometimes are violently opposed to it. This powder, however, has more of an opoponax/incensey tone to it, which makes it nicer than say, the dreaded baby powder. Thumbs up if it works for you. Try before buy.

Powdery smelling old whore who desperately tries to lure you into her dusty, tiny, poorly lit room that smells like a cheap amber and sandalwood candle for one last romp before she feels she has lost all of her wanton sex appeal.
Sorry folks, I just couldn't stand this one. Most powdery scents turn my stomach and make me ill b/c they remind me of decay. Even so, I detest Noire so much that it's actually intriguing.
Maybe my opinion will change someday though, who knows...so try to forgive this crass review. Edit: Wow. I never in a million years thought I would like this one, but I'm actually wearing it now and I'm not totally sickened. This one has grown on me, so I gave it another lippie. Maybe it will keep growing? Just wish it weren't so powdery at first. We'll see.

I got my first sample of this scent a few years ago, and at first all I could smell was the powderiness that many here have mentioned. I liked it, even though I don't usually like powdery scents. It's hot here in Austin, so I put it aside in favor of other scents. I came back to it from time to time, and found I liked it more each time.

Present time: I am in total love with this perfume.
Perhaps the oil needed to mellow, I know that my nose has matured in the past 2 years, where I have seldom worn the same scent for 2 days running. I'm picking up an extremely pleasant musk these days, along with the rich amber and sandalwood.

Maybe the perfume needed to get to know ME better ;)

At any rate, I'll be buying myself this for my birthday, and even though I know one tiny bottle will last for years (since I've barely put a dent in my sample vials) I'm tempted to get 2, just to see, in a few years, what even more mellowing time will bring out in this gem.

A final note to those who find it too strong: You must approach oils differently than EDT or EDP, oils are a completely different animal. Try applying VERY LIGHTLY to an area of skin that will be covered with clothing. Apply as soon as you can, so it will have time to develop on your skin. And if you find that it's too strong or that it's challenging to your nose, just put it a dresser drawer and go with what you like right now. It will be waiting for you when you are ready.

This one is smashing. It lasts a long time and you still smell it on your pillow the next morning you wake up. I don't agree with the people who say it smells like Shalimar or Obsession. This one smells way better.

This is my favorite of the Aroma M line. This is the epitome of femininity in my mind. It screams (or whispers) women only! It smells warm and powdery and spicy all at the same time. I don't get the Shalimar comparisons, but it does smell similiar to Obsession but with more floral softness. As with the all Aroma M oils, it is super long lasting and gets better with time. I receive compliments on this nearly every time I wear it from women as well as men. I really love this one and would consider it a "wear anywhere" perfume. Though it is strong and long lasting, it's also non offensive and wears close to the skin. I will repurchase this without doubt. Love, love!

this is not the suggestive classic scent of a movie femme fatale according to the website.IMHO it's the smell of saloon girls LOUD SEXY CARNAL and just a bit DIRTY.maybe like a pleasant sin sometimes but not too often,at least for me.

Lovely oil based fragrance. I definitely see the shalimar comparisons but I really dislike shalimar and I love this. At first it is very smokey and tobacco-y. It almost reminds me of a cousin to Bulgari black, which I do not like. It shifts though and becomes gentler and sweeter with the tonka bean sweetening it and the powderiness of it becoming stronger. It does smell like a classic from the 40's and the lasting power is wonderful. Very nice scent for a cold winter night.

This is a me scent! Dark, sexy and simple. It has notes of black amber, sandlewood and tonka bean. It's heavy and dark and I love that the perfume is almost black. It smells nothing like Shalimar to me.

This is a dark, woody, ambery scent. It is incredibly dark and sexy– like the softness of darkness itself. Stays pretty close to the skin-- sort of a your skin but better scent. Somewhat powdery. The bottle is very nice.

Decent oriental scent that gets points off for lack of originality. It smells almost just like Shalimar, but is longer lasting. For $50 a bottle, I don't think I'd get it.

From the LuckyScent site: You know the woman who walks into the detective’s office in every film noir? Impeccably dressed, devastatingly beautiful, with the face of an angel and a story full of lies? That woman would wear this fragrance. Elegant, seductive, addictive, dangerous. For the very best kind of bad girl. This one smells like trouble. We like that. Notes: black amber, sandalwood, tonka bean.
I wrote this in my fragrance diary when I first received a sample of Noire a little over a year ago: “Yikes! Strong, dark, spicy, powdery. I thought I liked it at first, but the longer it’s on me, the stronger it gets. Gives me a bit of a headache! I just can’t do these types of scents, they really affect my nose. If I thought about wearing it, the teeniest, tiniest dab is all that is required. I love the imagery LuckyScent creates surrounding this one and I wish it suited me, but dang, it don’t!”

A few months a go, I was going through my samples and thought I would try it again. I was astounded...I actually liked it...a lot! Being an oil, has it softened? Matured over that year somehow? I've also tested a lot of scents since then, maybe it's my nose that's changed...It's still a little strong at first with the dark amber giving a bit of a smack, but the drydown becomes an alluring, sometimes dry, vanilla, amber and spice...soft, warm and powdery. The day I wore it out and about, I even had an “Oooh, you smell nice!” from the male of the species!

These fragrance samples came with the nicest handwritten note! I doubt, however that Noir will be my favorite although it is a nice scent. Aroma M suggest this scent as an everyday fragrance and I agree that this is a nice scent for standard wear.

As said before this is an extremely powdery scent. It does not remind me of anything exotic or dark, but rather of soft fabrics and motherlyness. It is a strong baby-powder fragrance that drys down to a warm soft sandalwood.

I think that the scent is a lot more gentle than many of the fragrances it has been compared to. I don't get the amber at all. I get sandalwood and tonka, powdery, soft, and very slightly creamy.

I think that this is not an unique enough scent to warrant the price though, because soft powdery orientals abound. I should add that I frequently find powdery fragrances vile so I am truly impressed that I like this as much as I do. Still, I don't think I would purchase.

Update:
This lasts forever, and as it lasts it becomes more creamy and complex... I finally smell amber. I may decide that I like this better. For now I'm rasing it by a lippie since the fragrance ends up so comforting and warm.

Update Again:
Okay. I changed my mind. I love this! I find myself wearing it again and again. It's much warmer than Shalimar, and the amber scent really lasts.

Geisha Noir is a powdery oriental. After the drydown, it reminds me quite a bit of original Shalimar after the bergamot note has evaporated, but a little bit less sweet and with extra baby powder. Like the other
Aroma M fragrance oils, the fragrance lasts all day. The scent was still going strong on yesterday's clothes when I sorted laundry today. I wouldn't buy this because I already own Shalimar.

It's very spicy and strong, I don't like it on me. Like if I put it a tiny drop on the bottom of my foot it would be too strong. I put it on to go for breakfast and could not wait to get home to shower to get it off! Amber and Sandalwood fans may like this, but use sparingly. Very, very potent!

This is a warm, sandlewood-amber-tonka scent. Deep and a bit spicy. I like it for winter.
