I really wanted to like this as coriander has such a refreshing aroma. This however smells nothing like the herb, I agree with a previous reviewer, this does smell like vomit! Can't get past that s 'babysick' note so cannot comment on the dry down , though I do detect the coconut/suntan oil element . Shame as I have just wasted £21.50 on this monstrosity. That will teach me to buy fragrance when I am 'hormonal' ......

I used to wear the cologne/body lotion "Coriandre" by Jean Couturier a million years ago. There was nothing that ever smelled better, but it seems a little dated now. This is the closest and best thing to it. Even my 14 year old daughter loves it. It is unique/fresh/mossy/hard to explain, but it's definitely my favorite fragrance.

I just found out today that this, along with all of Kiehls roll-on essence oils, are being discontinued! I own just 2: Coriander and Pear - but I had my heart set on getting cucumber and then getting another coriander as a back up. Unfortunately, none of the Kiehls stores in my city had either of the scents left. All they had were Chinese flower and Pear left.
The Coriander scent itself is a lovely greeny tropical scent with a tiny bit of muskiness. The notes listed online is coriander, orange and patchouli. I love wearing this in the Spring and Summer on weekends. Since this is an oil, it lasts quite long on my skin - just an application on my wrists and neck in the morning is enough to last all day. It's not an overpowering scent but does linger on the skin and clothing very well.
It's on the pricy side at around $30 CAD for 7ml roll on - but since a tiny bit is all that's required, it's worth it. I'm now going to ration every last drop of my little bottle!

Ah, I love this stuff. It's an approachable scent, but complex and a little old-timey. Everyone here comments on the summery vibe. Weird. I get a totally different image: spicy and warm against crisp greens. Like a glowing candle on a snow-covered porch in the middle of winter. I'll have to resmell with thoughts of summer in mind. It could be that I began using this during one of the coldest January's on record and it reminds me of those days!
Also, I do find that men really like this scent. It's pleasant, yet intriguing. Sexy but not girly.

Unfortunatelly, on my skin, none of the lovely (clean, tropical, floral, warm) notes others have listed show up - all I get is a persistent yet unpleasant herbal soapy scent...

I have always wanted a scent that was both warm and fresh and I've finally found one that works perfectly with my body chemistry. Coriander is herbal with a touch of floral and almost a hint of coconut and it dries down to a warm musky note without becoming powdery. To me this is the perfect year round fragrance. I love the rollerball applicator because its easy to carry around.

I was hoping for a snuggly skin scent but on me, this is a tropical floral scent with a touch of suntan oil and coconut. Nice but not what I was hoping for. Florals tend to give me a headache, unfortunately. I think this is a scent worth try as it does stay close to the skin and I could see most people liking this. It's also very affordable but just not for me.

I have bought a bottle of this every year since 2003. I find this warm and comforting with a mild sun lotion hint. The small bottle makes it perfect for travel the oil lasts amazingly well on my skin. This is a summer staple for me. The lotion and shower gel are a lighter version and equally enjoyable.

I can't explain why I turn to this scent over and over again; it's very comforting, warm, simple, yet complex and I never tire of it. I own lots of perfume and for a long time tried to find a scent more "sophisticated", expensive, and cultish; but I always come back to my coriander essence.

Because it just hasn't been said enough times yet: summer.
I've purchased a bottle of Kiehl's Coriander Essence every year since 1996, and as it passed the 80 degree mark this afternoon, I just stepped out to buy 2008's bottle. Or, as they only had the $16 1/8 oz size, maybe just the first bottle for 2008.
What more can I add about this classic fragrance? It's crisp, clean, herbal, warm, comforting, nostalgic, and just all-around great. My only complaint is that it doesn't come in a spray form, but that's really nothing when you consider all of the positives about the product. This stuff seems to be a real cult favorite, and I hope it's never discontinued.
Another note: if you've ever had any sort of inclination toward the Body Shop's White Musk, I suggest that you try the Kiehl's Coriander. The scents have only vague correlations, but I think if you favored the White Musk as a teen, you might like the Coriander as an adult.

I adore this scent. On me its very soft. I can't describe the scent well, but it definitely smells like summer. Not in a sun tan oil kinda way, but in a lush, summer flowers without being floral kinda way. I do get a musk feeling from it but it doesn't really smell like musk. More like being kissed by the sun. Soft and beautiful. Great staying power too. I wear this only on the weekends and sometimes during the week, but whenever I do I get tons of compliments and people asking "what is that scent? it smells so clean and summery".

This may sound odd, but this smells like something Sharon Stone would wear, simple, yet complex, sortof a just plain clean scent but with an extra mysterious dimension. When I think of the movie Basic Instinct... her sitting on her chaise lounge reading.. I imagine her smelling of this. I also learned that Rose McGowan wears this as her signature (thanks helg) which surprised me a bit
Edit: I just got some and am smitten, my hg summer frangrance, for 2006 anyway ;) It's slightly coconutty and tropical, but with a bit of green, just sooo nice!

Clean and green, yet somehow still sweet and musky. It's really hard to put my finger on this scent. It smells fantastic out of the bottle, has amazing lasting power, and is reasonably priced. Unfortunately, it can sometimes turn a tad sour on my skin. So I'd rather reach for this scent in other forms, like the shower gel or lotion.

This is my new summer scent! I love the intensity of this fragrance - it is clean, fresh and green. A little goes a long way, I think the 1/8 oz. might last me all summer!

The coriander scent is the perfect scent for those workdays when it's 90+ degrees outside. It's clean and fresh, but somehow sweet.
It has great staying power. I apply it in the morning before I go to work and I can still smell it when I go to bed at night.
Plus, I have the teeny, tiny bottle so it's easy to throw in my beach bag when I scoot off to Cape Cod for a day or two.

Oh, dear. Fragrance reviews are very YMMV, right? I wanted to love Kiehl's Coriander. But it has the slightest edge of... vomit to the scent. I'd give my sample vial of this away, but I want to keep my friends.

This stuff is awesome! I agree with the reviewer who said it reminded them of the beach. It's bright and tangy in a citrus-y way, but there's no citrus in it! I'd say it's a great scent for daily wear if you want something clean, fresh and slightly unusual. Another bonus: it's highly appreciated by the opposite sex.

I truly enjoy those rare occurences of sniffing a new scent and immediately loving it and then loving it even more once applied....this is what happened to me with this Coriander oil. I already have the Musk, but it just wasn't "me", so based on it's positive reviews, I purchased the smallest size available from Kiehl's online. Boy am I glad I did! This smells like an interesting mix of green/floral and maybe even a little musk. Not a complex, big night out scent, but a great everyday work or play scent that has decent staying power and smells just wonderful. I plan on purchasing the 1/2 oz. size when this sample runs out.
