This is perhaps best described as an oriental chypre. The spicy/peppery quality is strong at first but it doesn't last long. The chypre element is quite strong once the top notes subside but the spices are still clearly present. This is not a "modern" scent, so if you have no experience with chpyres of the 70s you should sample first. The ingredient quality is here and this is a great bargain at current prices.

obviously a love/hate scent. I use this in the body creme, and applied sparingly to arms and neck is perfect. at night I put it on my hands for pleasant dreams into sleep. quite lovely as a cream- it melts into the skin and isnt greasy.

I'm a Chicago girl and I have fond memories of visiting Marilyn Miglin's discount outlet downtown and stocking up on gorgeous lipsticks. When I was growing up, Pheromone was really the only scent she had going and I disliked it intensely on myself (though some women managed to pull a cool, loamy greenness from it that was very sexy). Magic, on me, is what I wanted Pheromone to be: a classic '70s Big Green Floral, in the best possible way. But I will own that it is VERY easy to overapply/overlayer this, and then it is peppery and bitter and choking and most unpleasant. My secret is to use only the all-over body spray (and just a few mists of that) and then a couple drops of EDP from a dab-on bottle. In my opinion, Magic EDP is too strong to spray. Applied properly, this fragrance is truly beautiful and very womanly on me. I like that I'm wearing something a bit off the beaten track, too. If you like scents like No 19, Fidji, Charlie, or Norell, this is worth a go.

An assertive, in-your-face oriental-- not sure if this was created in the '80s but it sure smells that way. It has the sillage potential of Giorgio or Poison or any of the other nasal assault potions of that decade. I also consider it a "linear" fragrance (of which Giorgio was the first)-- meaning that it smells much the same at drydown as it does on first application. Sharp, peppery, heady, sexy. Reminds me of a more floral Magie Noire.
I pride myself on being able to wrestle with Big Fragrances That Take Up the Room and subdue them to my will, but Magic is a real struggle. Occasionally I spray a tiny amount behind each ear, which is enough for all day and all night even for those who like heavy scents. It *can* be sexy and alluring, but I think it's too overdone to fit me quite right. On a very confident, curvaceous woman with wild hair and leather pants and long black nails and gold chains, this could indeed be Magic.

HEADACHE in a bottle. Asthma-inducing, spicy, peppery, horrible scent. Some people love it. I hate it.
And I have to say, this perfume and those fruity things like rancid bubblegum actually make my whole body, and I mean WHOLE body itch if you are wearing them. Awful.

YUCK! Yecch! Bleah!
Smells pretty bad in the bottle - and I thought, perhaps, would smell better on my skin.
NOT FOR ME - smells cheap and synthetic.
A real shame, I like Marilyn's TV persona and enjoy some of her vitamin C products.
All the fragrances are too "old lady" and artificial for me.

Admittedly, I like rich, spicy fragrances. If you're into cucumber-melon and white musk, Magic will cause your nose to retreat back into your face. But if you want a black-and-gold party-dress-with-stilletos fragrance, this has a complex richness that reminds me of Chanel No. 19 and Opium. I wear this when I go dancing with my fiance. Try the tester before you buy, as this really is a love-or-hate scent!

Of course I realize that all fragrances smell completely different on each individual, but this is one perfume I had to return. I was so disappointed as it was nothing on me as I had envisioned. It is described as Miglin's spiciest, warmest perfume. On me though, it was a very synthetic vanilla, also, my husband complained about it waking him up at night everytime I turned over! I hope someone else will have better results.

Magic has the follow up ingredients that Marilyn Miglin left out of Pheromone.
Magic isn't for the faint-of-heart.
The peppery top note can be off putting but I LOVE it. And it dries down quickly to a spicy, yet relatively soft scent.
A wonderful autumn-winter fragrance.
