I've always wanted to buy a Fresh fragrance. There is only one shop in London and the prices are prohibitive, but I decided to take a chance with Pear Cassis.
I guess I'm in the minority as I am not wholly dissapointed. This scent starts off with a really bright scent of pear and it takes awhile before it begins to settle down into something thats currant-y and slightly musky but has a zesty kick. However, I have a feeling that the reason pear cassis smells so good on me is because I put coconut oil on my skin. This may muffle the smell slightly because I remember it smelling much stronger on the store sample, it also seems to make it a little more musky which is good for autumn.
I wouldn't buy this again since it was a toss up between this and Sake.

Fresh? More like FOUL! THIS STUFF IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Someone sent it to me as a extra in swap; otherwise, I never would have tried it. It smells like a combination of one of those cheap Bath and Body Works or VS body splashes from the early '90s, but amplified like 1000 percent, and mixed with Dawn dishwashing detergent. So foul I had to log on and write this review to caution people -- sample on your skin at your own risk.

The Pear Cassis has grown on me. I didn't love it at first, but you really have to wait for it to dry down. I had actually bought a few bottles on a deep discount with the intention to sell on ebay, but I ended up falling in love with it and keeping it for myself. It's really a great day time summer fragrance. I wore it all day yesterday for the first time- and I kept noticing how nice I smelled- fresh, clean and slightly fruity. I was also surprised that it lasted ALL day, I've noticed a lot of complaints that the Fresh Index do not have much staying power. I love the packaging of the Fresh Index- very classy and clean. Too bad it's discontinued!!

I read the reviews of this and seriously wonder if I've smelled the same fragrance everyone else is talking about. This is, and I honestly mean this, possibly the worst thing I have ever sprayed on my body. You know how some fragrances have green notes? This doesn't smell like a perfume, or a perfume trying to smell like a plant. It smells like an actual plant, and a gross one, like something that would be used as poison in a Shakespearean play. It is THAT bad. I guess that's the cassis (?) because it sure as hell doesn't smell the tiniest bit like pear...not the fruit, not the flower...nothing.
Also ridiculously priced. Only pro that Fresh gets is that I love their packaging. Too bad it's not worth it for this.
And, by the way, I've had this on for hours now. Unfortunately I can still smell it and can also say in response to other reviews that there is no fruity note at ALL to it on my skin. not even a tiny bit. it is one note and that scent is...awful. REALLY awful.

Juicy and tart, mostly cassis and citrus with little pear. A fragrance with some bite, which would be nice for high summer when sweet and heady fragrances can become overwhelming. Lasting power is surprisingly good--it's still going strong after 6 hours on me. Not a must-have personally, but if I received this as a gift, I'd use it.

One thing I've noticed about these Fresh Index scents is that the strongest notes are not the notes for which the scent is named. For instance, this is called Pear Cassis and the strongest notes in it are the lemon and green hyacinth (or some other bitter green note). The pear is barely perceptible. This smells more like a lemony green scent than anything else. Oh, and I've been to Avignon, France and it didn't smell like this at all (referring to the blurb "a perfect June day in Avignon..." on the packaging).

I enjoyed this fruity fragrances with its complexities - however the top note (which I loved) quickly faded to a mediocre pear scent on my skin.
Try this on BEFORE you purchase as it changes rapidly from note to noe and smells very different on the skin vs. in the bottle.

I agree with the reviewers below that said it was exactly like the Votivo Red Currant candle. I have the candle and received a sample and compared the two...exactly alike! Out of all the Fresh scents, I like this best, but it doesn't last long, and it's a pretty simple scent for the price. The scent is more appropriate for a body splash. I wouldn't pay this much for something that smells like simple fruity room spray.

most perfumes don't mix well with my body chemistry and give me a headache, but this one smells so yummy! it's fruity yet crisp, with no overpowering citrus or sweetness to it. it's the only one that my s/o likes and i've gotten quite a few friends into it as well. the only drawback is that it tends to fade rather quickly.

I really enjoy Pear Cassis and it has been one of my staple fragrances for a few years now. I like wearing it enough that I’ve gone through three bottles of the stuff! Despite its name, I don’t get much pear at all. Rather, the dominant aspects are red currant and lily of the valley. It’s a tangy and “bright” scent, almost acidic. Simple and pretty. Perfect for warmer weather. I absolutely agree with the reviewer who compared Pear Cassis to the scent of Votivo Red Currant. An anecdote: I went to an art opening with a friend last year and when we walked into the gallery, she turned to me and said, “It smells just like you in here!” They were burning a Votivo Red Currant candle. And I was wearing Pear Cassis. Be aware that its lasting power is not very extensive.

I am very disappointed with Fresh's fragrances. Like many of their perfumes, this one was very sweet. This smelled like a very sugary pear. Gave me a headache!

I'm in the minority on this one. I love this scent. It's one of the few frangrances that my husband actually notices and likes. It's very fresh and lasts all day on me, but you do have to load it on but it's so light that it doesn't knock you out. The fragrance is fruity and cool, perfect for summer. And of course, the bottle is simple and classy (I'm a sucker for packaging!) UPDATE: I'm not going to repurchase this perfume because it's too expensive for how fast it fades. So sad because I still love the smell.

A lovely swapper sent me a sample of this as an extra, and I liked the crisp, fruity, sweet scent when I sprayed it. Unfortunately it did not have very much lasting power on me, so I am not sure I would purchase a full size of this. I had better luck with some of the other Fresh Index fragrances, as far as staying power goes.

I have only tried two Fresh fragrances and this one I was extremely impressed with!! I love the light fruity fragrance and am a big lemony fragrance fan so I love the lemon in this one. I can definitely smell the pear and usually layer this with Victoria Secret Pear Glacee lotion or Bath & Body Works Lemongrass Sage Lotion. I get a lot of wear out of this in the summertime so I am so looking forward to the warm weather so I can start to wear this one again!!

I actually like this scent a lot. Very fresh. I don't like very perfume-y scent, so this is great for me. I cannot smell much of pear, though. Mainly cassis. IMHO, it is similar to votivo red currant.

Wow I am shocked at the bad reviews. I must admit, I hated this at first too (first smell was through a Sephora sample). A couple of weeks went by, and I wanted to smell this again. I began to crave the scent. I adore it now, go figure.
Top note: Pear, lemon, linden
Heart: Hyacinth, cassis, lily
Bottom note: Tonka bean, caramel, blackcurrant leaf
The pear is barely there, but definately does its contibution to making this a fun yet intriguing scent. This is not your kid's fruity jello here. The lemon gives this fragrance a lively zest, the tonka a warm vanilla musk. Thus, this is saved from being too sweet or foody. It is deceptively simple, yet addictive.

YUCK! I got some free samples of this. It's VERY strong when you first spray it on and it overwhelms your nose and will most likely give you an instant headache. I hate pear-scented anything, even though this isn't too pear-y. Don't even look at this one.

I received a sample of this with my Sephora order, and although I love the little squirt tester, this is one of the nastiest scents I have smelled. I am smelling my arm right now, trying to think of how to describe it, but I just can't pinpoint the disgusting-ness. lol Hmm My coworker just smelled it and liked it. She can have it! To each their own!

I have a hard time with perfumes, something about my PH I guess, most of them just smell sort of chemical on me. However, I am a big fan of this one, smells nice (like roses to me, but there is no rose listed in the ingredients? Weird.) and sort of cheers me up when I'm wearing it. I wish it lasted a bit longer though.
