well...first of all,it is indeed waterproof and it would be great if it didn't "gather" that much product on the brush.
The only way to apply this mascara is to try to wipe off with a tissue the unnecessary product of the brush but even then you can't be sure that it will work.
I have tried applying this mascara many times and only twice it worked for me(which means that it indeed made my lashes long and some how full.)
if they were about to fix the problem with the excess product then i would repurchase it but for now I'll pass...

I hope i helped :-)

Lived up to it's promise. But if you want "fake-lash" look, it's not for you. I love the wan. no fuzzy and easy to apply.

I'm sad we can't get Helena Rubinstein in Canada anymore (well other than online shopping). This used to be my favorite mascara of all times. It lengthens beautifully and does not smudge or clump. It gives long lasting curl but does not flake. It is not heavy on volume but I don't mind. I don't like spidery, thick lashes anyways. The design of the mascara is also interesting. It doesn't come with bristles. When you open it, you will see a thin metal with screw-like design on the tip of the wand. This is what enables you to achieve the perfect long lashes. The outside packaging is also beautiful. It looks like a golden pen! I miss my HR mascara. The one I grabbed from my trip to Europe last year is long gone.... If I can buy this again at Sears or the Bay, I would!

One of the best mascaras with the most beautiful packaging ever. It actually delivers very long perfectly defined lashes with a glossy effect on me. Extremely long-lasting (it is waterproof of course, although I didn't purchase it because of that), no smudging or clumping. The packaging is very elegant and slim, like a golden pen. It doesn't come with a brush, just a metallic wand with notches at the end. I am impressed! HR probably makes the best mascaras.

I don't own one of these but I know that Marilyn Monroe did. Anything she used is more good enough for me.

Love this mascara. On my 2nd refill. A very natural but improved look. Nothing fake/dramatic. Though I must say I seem to have to switch to a new tube quite frequently.

Previously I had taken Imju Fiberwig and Dior Iconic to be HGs for me, but they all had their minor unlikeable traits (Imju's bristle brush does not fit my eye shape, Dior, however long lasting, does smudge a little at the end of the day).

This mascara is excellent for a natural everyday look, but I never use mascara to achieve big dramatic lashes anyway, not my style for eye makeup. Firstly, the packaging is so chic, slim and dense like a fountain pen. Then the brush head itself is also metallic, as many have already noted. I have previously seen this style of wand in Japanese mascaras however I never thought they would be so great for precision application - at least for my eye shape anyway.

It must be the combination of the formula and brush head that makes this so great. I have short straight lashes which are also quite fine, which means clumps galore. I apply Shiseido The Makeup Mascara base first, to hold the curl, then one or two coats of this. The formula is fast drying, so no minor specks of smudging (like I get with Imju). Also as the brush head is small and precise, I can get this to go on my bottom lashes very well -- again no smudging or smearing OR clumping..! I do believe that once I've applied the base and mascara, my curl has drooped slightly, but perhaps that is to do with how long I hold the curl for.. another technique to work on.

I normally experience a sensation on my lash line-- not uncomfortable but a heaviness, with using Iconic and Fiberwig. I don't get that feeling at all with HR.

This lengthens my sparse and fine bottom lashes about 50%, although it does not add immense volume, which I don't want. As for the upper lashes, it can add about 30% more length, a bit more if I have the patience to reapply. I've never needed to use a fine lash comb with this mascara yet. I know this is impossible to get outside of Europe and therefore I'm looking at other alternatives, some Japanese drugstore brands also have screw-comb brush heads that have waterproof formulas.. perhaps I can find a replacement for this.

this mascara is like a dream. i have tried a lot, low ends and high ends. i thought i had had the best but this HR Long lash is definitely best of the best. it is extremely waterproof, stands for the whole day, but light tho. the screw head is especially impressive... easy to apply and all. the only only minor disadvantage is it takes a while to get dried but since the result is so satisfactory, it's fine!

I actually really like this....I got it at an outlet for $17, I don't know how much it regularly retails for. They only had brown, so I thought I'd deviate from black and give it a try. I have a hard time finding mascara that is actually waterproof, or at minimum doesn't smudge by the end of the day AND that makes my puny lashes stand out. This really works. The brush has lots of bristles that really got every lash and gave me very noticeable length, volume and definition.

Due to my father's terminal illness, I cry a lot these days.

But, even a crying, sad woman wants to look as good as possible. And Helena Rubinsten Long Lash Waterproof mascara is a true friend - it doesn't smudge or flake at all -let the tears come, and it even holds the curl! Until in the evening, when I take it off. I may be sad in my heart but my lashes look lush and, well, if that is possible for lashes to look - happy.

The very, very best mascara I ever had! Expensive, yes, but very much worth every penny.

Love this mascara! Love everthing about it! This mascara makes me look like I actually have eye lashes. It is easy to apply and REALLY makes your eyes stand out! The packaging is great, slim gold wand-like. The best thing about it is the applicator. It's not the average brush but more like a metal round comb. Definitely recommend it for someone has short straight lashes like me!

This is the worst mascara I ever bought. Maybe this products suffered heat or something, because I can't believe this expensive brand would make such a bad product. The mascara was dry, and clumping like crazy. Anyway, if this happened due to heat or not, I would not take the chance since this is an expensive product. And oh, yes, after some trouble getting rid of the clumps, I found out it smudges: by the end of the day I had that powdery black dust under my eyes. This mascara went straight to the trash after a couple of times. Try the Lancome mascaras, they are the best!

I love This Mascara!!!! I orderd it online at first, trying the blue because that was all that they had. But the blue was more navy.. almost black.. which suited me just fine!! It separates and lengthens my lashes, no clumps and it held my curl!!! Very important, cuz i have those south facing stubby lashes. The packaging is adorable, it is thin like a pen, a coppery gold color, and it has no brush.. just a coil on the wand! terrific... nothing else like it.. I knew after i saw this in Bazaar I had to have it. And now that i found if at my local DFS, for $20 and no tax, I will be there often.. but for now i bought 2 !!

I love the packaging..in the form of a slim gold pen. Plus it is refillable..that comes in usefule if you use this product, love it and will buy again.
Alas, I won't. I used it for the first time two days ago and it smudges. True, it gives the longest , blackest lashes ever, but I don't think I will buy it again.

well well well I finally found a half way decent mascara since Lancome took my aquacils off the market. This mascara kind of held a curl on my awful straight lashes and it made them long and lush without clumping. I used helena rubenstein mascara in the 70s and the brush was the same but the price was a hell of a lot less. I would purchase this again it is a good product.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, my fellow MUAers! Thanks to your mascara reviews, I decided to try both the HR Vertiginous and HR Long Lash in Waterproof. I haven't received the Vertiginous yet (ordered it by mail) but I found the Long Lash at the HR counter in a local Sak's.

OMG, after one use of the Long Lash, I'm totally hooked! It's the best mascara I've ever used! I curled my lashes today, but I don't normally do that, which is why I wanted the Vertiginous too. (I'll let you know how that one fares when I get it, but for now, the Long Lash is my HG, even if I have to curl for the rest of my life! ;)

Everything about it is superior(unfortunately, even the price, too!) but it's worth every cent! I have mediocre-length lashes at best, they're kinda sparse, and they're stick straight to boot. Eyelash-challenged to say the least, right? Long Lash to the rescue!

The hairless wand provided excellent application, in spite of it being a whole new experience. Not a clump, not a flake, and the mascara both lengthened AND thickened my lashes more than enough to classify as dramatic. It's been on all day and I haven't had a smudge. It's even held the curl in my lashes! I take my makeup off with baby oil, so I'm not too worried that I won't be able to get it off. ;)

From the beautiful and well-made packaging to the way it applies and performs, this mascara is, in a word, incredible! The look would work for both daytime and evening, i.e. very dramatic, yet also very natural, without appearing fake or like you tried too hard. I'm in love!!! I'd give Long Lash 6 lipsticks if I could! :)

UPDATE: Finally received the Vertiginous, and I'm sorry to say I have to take that sixth lippie and HG designation and give it to Vertiginous. It's everything Long Lash is and more! Both mascaras are awesome, but Vertiginous provides a bit more of the HR "natural drama", and doesn't seem as stiff or "spidery" as the Long Lash can be.

Updated AGAIN to say that the packaging of Long Lash lends itself to being an extremely long-lasting mascara. It's been over six months since I bought this stuff, but the packaging was so pretty I couldn't bring myself to throw it away.

I tried it about a week ago, and yes, it's a smidge dry, but still totally wearable! Vertiginous looked a little better, but dried up much quicker. Not sure if that's a result of where I bought it (Strawberrynet.com in Hong Kong, took two weeks to even reach me) or of the mascara itself, but now that they're gone, I doubt I'll ever find out! :(

Wherever you purchase, I'd say you can't go wrong with either one. Reverting Long Lash back to five lippies based on its extraordinarily long life. Both of these mascaras totally rock! :)

Wow! This mascara really pumps up my lashes. It makes them look at least double their size. This is a serious mascara, it stays put and doesn't move all day. I wore it one day when I got caught in a down poar and this stuff stayed put. Rave from me!!!
