Erno Laszlo recommends this cleansing bar for my type of skin (extremely dry skin: 8:30 o'clock). It's a detergent, not a soap, as are the other Laszlo bar cleansers.

This cleansing bar left my skin feeling uncomfortably dry and tight. I tried using it only once a day (at night), and just rinsing my skin with water the following morning, but my skin felt uncomfortably dry and irritated all day.

Update July 2012: The company is under new ownership. This is one of the products that have been discontinued.

I'm 64 and this cleansing bar is perfect for my age-related dry skin, especially in the northeast winter.

Before I turned 60, this would have been too heavy for me too. Now that I have, it's a god send. I was using the Active Phelityl soap for the last few years, but found that I had to use a lot of moisturizer to keep my skin from flaking in the winter, so I gave the HydraphHel a try. I am so glad I did.

You can but it at a good price on ebay, btw.

Hydraphel Cleansing Bar is just what its name says: a cleansing bar and no soap!!!

It is for extreme dry skins and to be used without the Active Phelityl Oil. It is also recommended for people with neurodermatitis and psorisasis. It contains shea butter and essential fatty acids.

Why in this world any guy even if he has dry skin would like to try this I can't even start to guess. Anyone whose skin is not superdry will get problems using it as it is more of a dry skin cleansing milk than anything else. For those needing a supermild cleanser it is HG! Dry skins use Active Phelityl Soap.

I tried this as part of my 11:30 sample ritual and I would absolutely NOT buy it. First of all, it's about the most expensive bar of soap I've ever seen. Second, between this and the skin prep oil that came with my ritual, my skin was left feeling like it had a heavy buildup on it. I've only used it for one day, so it's too soon to tell for sure, but I'm thinking this ritual would cause me to break out if I kept using it. I'm not going to wait to find out!

I tried this since the Sea Mud Soap was too harsh. This gave me clogged pores and didn't do anything special. IMHO, an outdated product.

Very gentle soap which has made an incredible difference to my normal skin. This soap is labelled as being suitable for dry to extremely dry skin, but I don't think it would be much good for very dry skin at all. Another thing, soap is very soft, and dissolves easily in water. I am using a regular soap dish so it doesn't get too mushy.
