I'm surprised at the average ratings for this product! I think this was the one product that made me believe there was hope for my dead hair after all!! I used to use it a while ago and then stopped, and then suddenly repurchased a couple of years ago, and man am I glad I did! I oil my hair once a week (as in soak my hair, root to ends with coconut, blackseed and neem oil) and use this once a week. Okay, I think I am giving it a little too much credit, but it does make my hair really soft! I think it's important to get it reasonably hot before (not to the point where you'll cook your hair), but leave it in a cup of hot water (not boiling!) for a good few minutes. I find it a good quick fix, for the days where I'm not able to do my coconut oil.

This is my rescue product especially if I use crappy products that strip my hair. I use it once a week. My hair is waist-length, wavy and prone to some dryness. This makes it soft and silky and tames my waves with no oily residue. As the other reviewers have said, use it exactly as instructed. Make sure all the product is rinsed out, and shampoo thorougly. And do not think you are doing yourself any favours by leaving it for more than a minute.

I used to use this twice a week when I was in my 30's. It came in a little plastic bottle, then, and you could choose original, or a nice herbal scent. I forgot about it. they don't advertise. I'm fifty now, with very few gray hairs, but I do color my hair. The last color job left my hair looking kind of flat. I used a VO5 hot oil treatment last night, and I can't stop looking at my hair! It is SO shiny, and has SO much body. It's gorgeous! how are you going to write a review, when you don't use the product according to the instructions?

I like this product, but it's nothing really special. I use it once a week or whenever my hair feels really dry. It's so easy to use and it does nourish my hair to an extent but it doesn't perform miracles. Good product but i'll still be experimenting with other brands!

I have used the hot oil in my course long dry hair several times. It is a great treatment to use when my hair is feeling extra dry (a few weeks after a hair dye job or after a lot of time spent in the sun). Although it does a pretty good job, it is fairly expensive and I feel like I can get the same results from using coconut oil and leaving it in my hair a few hours before a shower. That being said, I would still buy V05 if I was travelling or didn't have the time for a treatment that takes a bit longer to work.

While this is not a miracle hot oil treatment, it works pretty well for the price. It is also quick and easy to use. I don't have the patience to sit for hours waiting for a hair treatment to work, so being able to do this in under a minute was a big plus for me. It rinses out very easily, with no greasy residue. My dry, frizzy hair was noticeably softer, with fewer tangles, although I still had some residual frizz. I haven't been using this for long, so I will see how well this works over the long term.

This is a good hot oil that does make a difference in the finish of your hair when blow drying. I don't see any different when I air dry or wear in a wet bun. I have transitioning 4A hair that needs lots of hydration. Using this oil for about 4 weeks, I have noticed it helps helps keep the ends from drying out. I also use V05 Conditioners for co-wash, and a mix of other higher end deep conditioners. This is a nice treat when you don't have time to DC with heat. However, you MUST heat it for 1 minute prior, ONLY use it after rinsing your hair out and before shampooing, and and you MUST follow the directions exactly. When I apply, I get a little bit of an oily suds. The ingredients aren't impressive, but the results are nice. I purchased the hot oil shower works too, which you don't have to heat first and I like that just as well.

I remember this being the big thing a few years back.
It's very simple to use and is effective. the oil gets hot quickly and is very easy to apply. It doesn't leave any residue behind, on hands or hair. It's not greasy and doesn't make hair extra oily.
I hated how you have to twist off the cap and how little you'd get. I would have to use multiple to get enough to spread through my hair.
My hair was left very soft and healthy after use. It's also very easy to wash out, which is great. I hate having to fight with products but this one makes me look forward to treating my hair.

I didn't notice a lasting healthy effect, though. It's very temporary.

All in all, I'd buy again.

Ive been using this for years, it really does help with dry ends and my hair seems easier to style. However i wouldn't be distraught if they were ever discontinued as there are other treatments out there!

I would think they could put this in something other than a little tube that needs heated up. That's just me though I guess. It did not seem to do anything for my dry hair. If you do not rinse it out well, then your hair will be greasy. Overall...do not like, won't be buying again.

I brought this in a pack of 4 (little treatment sized). Honestly, I didn't notice a change in my hair. Nothing. If anything, it just made my hair feel greasier. I thought the oil would be quite heavy but it actually feels rather light. The amount per tube is enough to cover very long hair, so I only used half a tube for my shoulder length. Didn't work for me.

This is good, it sealed my damaged, frizzy ends and was long lasting but I had to use two. Make sure you use it on very clean hair, like after using a clarifying shampoo.

yuck! after using this, my hair is frizzy, tangled and feels like it has a greasy film all over it. I will have to rewash my hair with a clarifying shampoo to get rid of the gunk this junk left behind!

Long story short, my hair has been bleached, coloured, stripped of nutrients, straightened, you name it, it has been done. I have been using Alberto Vo5 Hot Oil Treatment for a little over a year and has helped my hair drastically. I would normally not give a product a 5/5 only because it's a little unrealistic .. BUT I couldn't help it. Use this treatment if you have dry, damaged hair and in need of some major TLC! You will not be disappointed.

FYI: For best results, boil some hot water and let the tube sit for at least a minute. Once you take it out of the water, wait a few minutes to cool as it will burn your scalp.

I have been using this on a fairly consistent basis for years and years. It seems to be the one thing that works at making my hair look soft and shiny if it's really looking frazzled for some reason (due to coloring or styling, etc). This is pretty close to HG status for me if I need something simple and easy to make my hair look and feel better very quickly. Usually, I leave the tube in a mug of hot water for about 2 minutes and then break open the tube and distribute as evenly as possibly through my hair. Typically, I twist my hair up and have a nice hot soak in the tub for 10 or 15 minutes, then stand up and shower and shampoo as usual. I am thinking I haven't used it in awhile- better pick up more at CVS!

I had my hair colour stripped as I wanted to go to a lighter shade of brown from the almost black colour that I had, needless to say my hair ended up a dry frizzy mess. I decided to use this as I was willing to try anything. This is the only thing that restored my hair to its former softness and smoothness, I think that you need to use it a couple of times before you really see the results. I use this every second time I wash my hair, and I feel really dependant on it now. I think it is also crucial to follow the instructions and not leave it on for more than a minute and shampoo it out.

I have really mixed experiences with this product. What I don't understand is if it is meant to be a hot oil treatment, why does it lather up on application? I don't expect oil treatments to lather up. I am really disappointed with the scent, as it smells so false and uninviting.

I haven't really noticed any effect on my hair after two applications, so I am still hoping for something to occur. And actually my hair felt really stripped after using it, so I didn't use shampoo afterwards but went on to use my regular conditioner.

I bought a pack of 4 from Somerfield at a reduced price, but I think that it will be my last pack too.

Not convinced Alberto!
