I have used these for years. They work but you have to be diligent and use them nightly. For such an inexpensive ' gimmicky' sort of thing, they are amazing. If you use them religiously, they truly can retrain you from using those muscles. I love them ! They have kept me from getting " in between the eye" frown lines so far.

when did these get so expensive?? I remember seeing that chick from Thomas crown affair and she said she had been using them for years and they only cost like a dollar a box at the drug store when they asked her how she looked so young still. then they kinda exploded in popularity and went to 20 bucks a box? is that what happened? or did she have the price wrong all along??

Hi, I love Frownies, but I haven't bought them for ages.
I buy a roll of watercolour papertape from the art store. It's about $5 for a huge roll.
It's the same stuff, but you have to cut your own pieces. However, this makes it easier to customize.
When you get near the center of the roll where it's wound tighter, you definitely have to be more careful about only wetting the center. Also, after it dries, I run a nail underneath the edge, which prevents the the cutting problem that many people complain about.
When I use these regularly, it's awesome. Really prevents me from frowning in my sleep.
I also put them on before long drives. I just make sure to peel it off about 10 minutes before arrival. This prevents frowning/squinting while driving.
Love love love this.

I have used these for about a week. I bought the corner of mouth/eye area papers. I also bought the eye gels (which you wear for only 30 min a day). I started wearing the paper stickers for the eye and mouth area right away. I noticed that my crows feet were better after only one night of use. The mouth area was better as well, but not quite as dramatic as the eye area. The problem is that they are almost impossible to remove. I have tried using oil, a damp washcloth, and even soaking my face with water. My skin is torn from removing the patches on my delicate eye area. I think that they would be easier to remove in a hot steamy shower, but I work out in the mornings and shower later. They also look ridiculous, and are uncomfortable to sleep in. I am still trying to figure out if the nighttime uglyness and difficulty in removal are worth smoothing out my crows feet. I tried the eye gels (which should have their own catagory) today for the first time. They feel nice, and are soothing, but they don't work for crows feet as well as the stickers (and they are way more expensive).

Ladies, do yourselves a favor and try this product!! I came across "frownies" a long time ago but I read what it claimed to do and thought, it's just another gimmick! So I just disregarded it, just like some of you might be doing right now. Four days ago, I went to Pharmaca to pick up sunscreen and this was displayed right next to it. (Yes, a major cause of wrinkles is sun damage, so get you spf on!!) For a second time, I left the store without it. I could not stop thinking about it though and I went back to purchase it later that day. I am soooooo glad that I did!
WHY IT WORKS: Since my early 20's I have had wrinkles between my eyes which make me look mad, as the years go by, they have become more pronounced and very noticeable. I have tried Botox 3 times in my 30's and I was pleased. Botox uses a neurotoxin to temporarily paralyze the muscles around the wrinkles. Botulinum, as the toxin is called, wears off in about 3-6 months but it is believed that it has extended benefits because it "retrains" the muscles not to contract. Repeated use throughout the years will make this "retraining" more apparent. But boy is it expensive!! Enter the Frownie product as it works similarly in principle but differently in its delivery. Frownies immobilize the area by physically not allowing the muscles to contract and form the wrinkle. When it is properly placed, it should be difficult to frown. Extended use of Frownie retrains muscles not to contract so easily.
HOW TO USE: The Frownie is made of kraft paper and a "sticky" glue on the other. Think of a biore strip except that this is light brown in color. I wash and dry my face, then lightly massage the area to increase circulation to the site. I moisten the shiny side with a few droplets of water, then with my left hand, I place my index finger and thumb together in a pinching motion on top of the wrinkle, then slowly and gently separate my thumb and finger, slightly pulling at the skin and smoothing out the wrinkle. I take the already moistened Frownie with my right hand and place is over the wrinkle and hold for about 5 seconds. That is it!
I would like to address the complaints of the people that rated this product so poorly: 1. Use it correctly, 2. Use it consistently, 3. Be patient, 4. Have realistic expectations.
Admittedly the printed directions that are included in the box are not very clear. Some things to keep in mind... applying too much water will make it slide off. Too little water will not let it securely adhere it to the skin. The slight red mark on the area that you placed it over will disappear soon after removing the Frownie (about 15-20 minutes, you did after all sleep with a tiny piece of paper on your face. :) Not yanking it off in the morning helps as well. To remove it, splash your face with plenty of water to saturate the Frownie and it will slide right off. Also, please don't do it for a night or two and give up, use it nightly for at least 7 days and you will start seeing a softening in the depth of the wrinkles when you take it off in the morning. This tightening is temporary and will wear off in a couple of hours but it is a good indication that it is working. Those dreaded "11" wrinkles have been 33 years in the making for me, and I certainly don't expect any product to remove wrinkles completely or overnight.
Having said that, this totally helps minimize the appearance of my forehead wrinkles and I am looking forward to seeing how this continues to help me in the future. After just one use, I was hooked, its been 3 nights and I am continually pleased with the results so far. You get 144 Frownie triangles for $14.99, depending how many you use per night, this can last several months.
Is this the end all of all wrinkle products? Probably not. Wrinkles are not cute but a piece of paper on your forehead does not up your sexy factor either! :) However, Frownies are not uncomfortable, they don't hurt, it is not evasive, does not contains any harmful chemicals, it is decently priced and IT WORKS!!! What else can I ask for?? Do yourselves a favor and try it out. I suggest purchasing at a drugstore that has a good return policy (Walgreens, CVS...etc) If after several weeks you do not feel that this is starting to work, simply return it for a full refund.

For even more smoothing than frownies! -- try cutting up hydrocolloid bandages into pieces the size of your frown lines. I can use these right up next to my eyes because they are made with a moisture-retaining gel, and I have thin skin. The moisture helps plump and smooth the area. They are also great for popped pimples to bring the swelling down and are supposed to be useful on wounds for keeping you from scarring. The bandages are pretty expensive but if you just cut out pieces in the size you need, you can save expense.

I have purchased several boxes of these over the years and when I'm diligent enough to use them, I'm always happy with the result. They just make sense. They are thick, stiff paper that you adhere to your skin wherever you have wrinkles from facial movements. They prevent your muscles from moving, which in turn prevents the skin from wrinkling.
They absolutely work if you are diligent about using them. Nothing is a permanent solution, so don't expect long term effects. However, if you use them consistently for a couple of months, my experience is that they "retrain" the muscles for a while and your wrinkles diminish.
I use them for my 11 lines. I seem to have all my tension in my forehead and the wrinkles are starting to show. I've used them for three days now and this morning my wrinkle was wonderfully smooth. I could see just a little of it and my forehead felt relaxed for the first time in a couple of years. I don't know why I abandon them for so long because they actually produce results.
I put it on before I go to bed and will occasionally wear them throughout the day if no one is around to laugh at me. Please give these a try. Tape or stuff like that does not work because it's too flexible. The stiffness of Frownies is what makes the difference.

I have been using these for about 4 months now, and I am very happy with the results on my 11's. I just use one right over the area, over whatever skincare I use that night, it adheres just fine. I get 2 uses out of each one, I think when I was using on bare skin I got 3-4 uses out of each one but it hurt coming off in the morning that way. That said, if I forget them for a week or so and the 11's start returning, using these on bare skin is a faster way to get back to a smooth forehead.
I had one round of Botox about 8 months before I found frownies. My experience was not good, I had pronounced spock brows from the Botox. The correction for spock brow can lead to eyebrow sagging over time. Also, the results with these ARE as good as Botox (for me), with much less cost. Yes it is temporary, So is everything you do to your face. Not even plastic surgery lasts forever. I paid $20 for my box and at least 1/3 is left 4 months later, plus my 11's are no longer an issue.
I might try Magic Tape when these run out, and I will be trying these out on other areas too.

WOW. I'm shocked that these actually worked! A friend of mine teased me and said "don't you realize that they stop working as soon as you stop using them?!" Well, duh, doesn't everything!? I mean, not even botox lasts. I am completely satisfied looking like a weirdo when I go to bed to have the confidence the next day that the Frownies has brought to me. I am shocked and before I bought them I was skeptical- embarrassed even to buy them but wow, even my neighbor asked if I had work done and I've only been wearing these for 3 nights. Complete erased my crows feet! Love :)

I've been using these for years. TIP: To get them to say on, don't wet the paper itself. Instead, just wet your skin. This provides just the right amount of moisture and this always works for me. I find I don't get the same bang for the buck in reusing a frownie more than twice, so yes, I do reuse them, but always prefer a fresh one.
Some people say you can just use regular tape on your lines, but it simply doesn't work that way. The product itself is thick with a fairly thick natural glue on it, and you need that extra cushion from the thick paper to smooth out the lines. Given the results, this product is worth the expense.

I love frownies, I used them consistently for about a year on my frown lines between my eyes, and it smoothed out all the ridges. I stopped using them for a month and they are starting to come back.

I've been using frownies for about a year & they do work -- or they have for me, at least. I only have 2 lines on my forehead, but when I turned 40 they were starting to get deeper & a 3rd one was beginning to form. I was also starting to get lines above my nose, between & around my brows. After using frownies, the lines around my brows are completely gone. The third line on my forehead never formed. The other lines are not gone, but they're very feint. It may not work for everyone, but it's worth a try. I get 'em at Bed Bath & Beyond (in the section w/the nail stuff). With a $5 off coupon, it comes to about 10 bucks. You can re-use them & they still work fine -- I can use 'em up to 4 or 5 times, so a box can last a long time. It's worth a try to avoid botox -- the expense, the upkeep, the thought of shooting poison in my face -- well, no thank you. But you do have to commit to it for it to really work. It's really not that big a deal. You wear it while you sleep, so really who cares? If you're afraid it will get in the way of er, romance -- well, be romantic & then put on your frownies. If u use 'em, you'll end up looking so great, you'll be likely to be gettin' more romance anyway. Btw, there are vids on youtube showing how to use them.
Edit at add (11/23/12): Still using 'em a year later & my forehead lines are still there, but they have NOT gotten worse (awesome!) -- in fact, they've softened quite a bit. By using Frownies, I've kept the 11's at the top of my nose from forming -- & they were starting to before -- but now they're gone. Like I said before, given the small investment, it's worth a try, to see if it works for u. But if u have deep lines or lots of sun damage, it probably won't.

Well, I am obviously in the minority because I CANNOT get these to stick on my face sufficiently. I do everything the package slip says (wash and dry my face, wet the Frownie, hold it to my face). Still doesn't stick properly.
I've tried saturating them, I've tried using just a few drops of water, I've tried holding them to my face for 5 minutes . . . no difference. In the morning I only have to pull them very slightly and they come off. They don't seem to improve my lines at all. Very disappointed because I had high hopes based on the reviews. Giving them a 2 just because I am so disappointed . . .

I love Frownies! I have been using them for about ten years now, although not every night. I'm 41 and wrinkle free, and really think using the Frownies has something to do with that. If I don't use them for a couple of weeks my frown lines become way more pronounced. I actually like the way the way they make me relax my forehead, and often put one on if I have a headache for the sense of facial relaxation it gives me.
I will continue to use Frownies forever unless I cave in and start getting Botox injections eventually. The reason I haven't yet is that I have no wrinkles and also because I worry about the long term effects of it. Frownies is the safe, albeit slow. alternative.

I am a 43 year woman with a deepening crease in between my brows (I can actually insert the tip of my fingernail into the crease) and F's really work to smooth out the crease. I use it only at night and by morning the crease is nearly gone! I'm opposed to injecting Botox in my face, especially not knowing what the long term effects could be with such a toxin, so if I can continue this kind of success with F's - wonderful!!! I have tried surgical tape, but it caused acne in that area and the F's do not. As far as a product that really does get rid of lines, this product in my opinion, cannot be beat!

Love 'em. Love 'em. Love 'em. I am financially, ethically, and rationally opposed to injecting my face with neurotoxins, so when I heard about Frownies, I was curious. At first, I didn't like them, because I thought they were hard to get off. But I figured that out, and in about three weeks the vertical line between my eyebrows was pretty much gone. Also, they do not make my face break out. When I tried scotch tape (same thing, I thought, but even cheaper) I got a major break out. But Frownies' adhesive seems to crystallize in chunks too big to clog pores. Whatever the reason, they agree with me.

Quite simply they are awesome as long as you are dedicated. The longer you use them, the better the results and longer they last. I am now conscious of how tense my forehead can be, in a way I never noticed before, which means it also helps me even when I am not wearing them, because I remind myself to relax unconsciously. Love them ladies. I do break out occasionally on my forehead from them, but I have oily skin and really it only happens when I have been eating naughty and am more prone to break out at that time. The breakouts go away very quickly though. I have only used the forehead and between eyes ones, am ordering the eyes and mouth ones now. Will update on those, but am already psyched:)
