This is a clay mask, but clay is not high on the ingredient list. As a result, this mask is somewhat tightening, but not as effective as other clay masks I've tried. The beige color makes it difficult to see where it's been applied.
Age: 19-24 Skin: Acne-prone, Fair Hair: Blond, Wavy Eyes: Grey
This is probably a good clay mask for people with dry skin, but people with oily skin or acne have a lot of better, cheaper options. I only bought this because I had an Aveda gift certificate. I really just didn't notice it doing anything, slightly smoother skin maybe. If you're looking for a mask that noticeably reduces acne, try one of the Queen Helene ones. Way cheaper, work like a dream.

This is great for me because most mud masks or deep cleansing masks aren't targeted for all skin types, and I have very dry skin in the winter. This mask made my face more radiant. My complexion is already clear, but manages to look even more clear after using it twice.
This doesn't moisturize so I won't be using it in the winter. I used it twice but it wasn't moisturizing enough. I am saving it to use in the summer when my skin is more on the normal side. I wouldn't recommend this for oily skins, but think it's perfect for normal types.

I've used this mask for years and love it. I use it once a week (a little bit goes a long way), and it always leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean. Wouldn't suggest using it too much in the winter, though, as it can be drying then. Always follow this with a good moisturizer.

Got a very generous sample of this from the Aveda store and I definitely have no plans to buy it. I don't think this is any better than any standard clay masque. I just started my period and have some PMS related breakouts going on and I was hoping it would calm those a bit and it didn't. In fact my skin feels sort of irritated and dry and I do not have sensitive skin. My skin is combo. I don't think this really made any difference at all and I've used it probably 3 times or so since I got the sample. As usual with Aveda products, I don't see the appeal and for what they charge, the products should be better than they are. Aveda is just not for me.

Thought it was high time I reviewed this. I received this as a gift, otherwise I probably would've shrugged at the site of this and would've moved on. Luckily, I tried it last May, and have used it ever since. I love how this doesn't dry out my skin at all (and I'm one to get really anal about this kind of stuff). The scent is herbally -hence the name- has a thick odd texture, and i only use about a thumb nail's amount each time for my problem areas. It's a pain to remove, but I also was given their shammy/cloth which removes it very well. It leaves my skin calm, soothed and clearer. I'm sure that if I were to use this twice a week my clogged skin would clear up faster, but I want to conserve this as much as possible. It's a true - hidden - gem, that I will use until the sky falls. I won't complain about the price, given I've used it almost every week since last May (2009).
I recommend this after an extraction when the skin is irritated and is likely to become infected. It definitely helps to clean out the dead skin and oil on the face, but doesn't cause flaky skin or rough skin. Oh and since it's in a tube it makes it so much easier NOT to contaminate the product. I'm sorry but why the heck do some skin care companies have the need to put masks in tubs? Seriously.

This product is absolutely foul. It smells off and is not designed for oily skins. While there is kaolin content, the mask never dries and goes clear after a while. It left me feeling icky and clammy. I canít see how it deep cleanses but at least it doesnít dry you out completely. This is more designed for very dry skins that canít use typical clay masks. I would not purchase this product unless you have sampled this first. Grossly overpriced and was returned within one day. This puts more gunk on your skin than what it takes out.

Feels nice and cooling on the skin. Rinses off easily.
Smells good. But didn't notice any difference to my skin.
Won't be purchasing this again.

WOW! Scientiffically I really don't know if it will work. I DO know...it is the first clay masque I've purchased that has had such an incredible aroma (like a spa facial). It's a wonderful non-thick, easy to apply clay masque! You could almost sleep in it. Just teasing!

I've bought it after reading reviews on MUA. And I must say I really like it! It works gentle, but effective for my sensitive skin. This product really keeps its promises :)))

This is definitely one of my favorite top masks since its fits teh bill of being fresh, having a convenient tube, deep cleanng, and ofcourse most important not sucking all teh moisture from my skin. I dont think alot of ur realize how amny clay masks are just horrible and dry out natural moisture since for years when I was a teen I used to use Queen Helens Mask (the weird colored green one). That mask in convenient and cheap hence why soooo many people still use it but its also made form cheap and harsh ingredients so yes even though it does deep clean is completely overdries your skin overtime leaving it tight. Also always ahted how thich the clay is since its a 007 mission trying to squeeze it out of the tube lol.
This maks is great since is very moisturizing while deepcleaning bottom line and thats the purpose of a good mask so love it. However like some people said it doesn't do much for breakouts which I get very seldomly but why my top favorite mask of all time to date is still DDF Sulfur Mask. I lvoe that is comes in a container for easy access. IS the perfect consistancy and lasts forever, don't let teh price keep you from buyng it. Moreso is has the absolute best ingredients for deep cleaning, helping blemishes or irritation, oil, and jsut keeping you face amazing and prevnetion. Its very cooling and sulfur is jsut one of the best ingredients (the only one of few thats not harsh on our faces). I use it once a week and then jsut use the aveda for a pick me up also during the week.

This did sting a bit initially, but after it dried, my face felt like it had a good clean. I rinsed it off and my face was slightly red, but my pores appeared smaller which I didn't expect. Of course this was temporary. Nonetheless, it did exactly what it said it would do. My face was soft and not dry. This was pricey at twenty-five bucks, but worth it. I will continue to use it once a week as my weekly mask.

This is a pretty good deep pore mask. I do see a difference in my skin after I've used it. More pores apprear smaller and there is a healthy glow. My skin tone also appears more even with less redness.

This is by far my favorite face mask. It really clears up your skin and helps with zits but at the same time it's so gentle and doesn't dry out my skin at all. Everytime I use this mask, I see a noticable radiance to my skin once I wash it off after 10-15 min. - it even helps dry zits when used as a spot treatment! I SWEAR by this stuff!
Age: 19-24 Skin: Combination Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown
I absolutely love this- I usually use it about once a week. it's not over-drying and my skin always feels so refreshed after I rinse it off. It is difficult to get off- sometimes I feel like it's still on so I recommend really washing it off well. Otherwise- it's awesome. My boyfriend and I both use it religiously.

I really really like this mask. I first tried it when my brother's gf let me try it while visiting them...I was thinking to myself...oh great, another mask, just what I need...but I was really pleased upon trying it! My skin is quite sensitive, oily/combo, large-pores, tends to get ruddy, and breaks-out easily (I know, great right? :) )...so I was skeptical upon first trying this. I thought it would break me out, feel weird, whatever...but I was wrong! It's actually quite soothing, seems to calm my skin down, and my face really feels refreshed after using this. Also it's gentle enough to use like every-other day if necessary, especially in the warmer months. I went ahead and bought a tube for myself, and now use it whenever my skin just feels kinda blah. You don't need a lot, and this one tube I think would last me a year if not longer, so it's really not that expensive when taken into account like that. Granted it's a bit more $$$ then my Queen Helene Mint Julep, but that mask is more of a - my skin is breaking out and I need a treatment mask - whereas this is like - my skin is looking dull and grimy and I need to feel refreshed - mask. I really like this, I do recommend it, and if you have sensitive/combo skin like mine I think it would be at least good to try.

This is a great mask even though it is a little in the price-y range. Feels tingly on the skin and a little goes along ways. I use it along with the Shammy cloth and have had great results!
Age: 19-24 Skin: Dry, Olive Hair: Black Eyes: Brown
This calms my skin like no other.. makes redness go away, my face looks brighter and feels softer. I like to savour this mask because it is really expensive for a mask. I also liek that it does not harden like most mask do, sometimes i just want a relaxing spa quality mask rather than oil absorbing hardening ones..
Age: 19-24 Skin: Combination, Fair Hair: Blond Eyes: Blue
It smells nice in that Aveda way but it doesn't seem to do much on my blemishes and blackheads. I prefer other clay masques, such as Queen Helene Mint Julep or Skinceuticals Clarifying Clay Masque, to do my deep cleaning.
$19 for a 4.4 oz tube.

Best face mask ever! Well, except for the price...I usually do extraction with my facials & this is the only mask that would close the pores, calm down the redness on my skin after my facial, de-gunk my skin & make it softer, smoother and brighter! and it only takes 5 mins for this mask to work. I usually grab this for days when i am in a hurry too.
ETA (2404): been trying other masks & still find that this mask is the best! it is the only mask that works at removing the reddness in my skin & only needs 5 mins for the mask to work! miracle mask - my HG!
