Overall, I'm particular about facial scrubs for exfoliation. I tried a travel size of this product and wasn't totally disappointed but not thrilled. It's too abrasive and I actually prefer Dermalogica's powder based rice scrub. I found that one did more for my skin than this skin prep scrub. The skin prep scrub is a good "fill in" product if u run out of your normal scrub. It can get you through until you buy more of what you really like. I highly recommend non-abrasive scrubs for facial exfoliation even if you have to make your own homemade one at home using cream powered goat's milk, its just safer bet overall for face.

I've only been using this for a few days but a noticed a difference in my skin especially my nose/blackheads.
It's helped a lot with exfoliation of my oily/combination skin.

I'm going to use it 2-3 times a week from now on but i've been using it daily for the first few days.

I used this once, and it completly ruined my skin. It has been 2 days since I used it and my face is till red-ish and has changed its texture somehow. I normally have smooth skin but it feels very uneven and dry and weird, an it itches a bit. I haven't used any other product for the first time since this happened, only the skin prep scrub so it has to be the product that did this. Hope it goes away and my skin goes back to normal again, soon... yikes

I tried this on my hands first... There is no way this abrasive scrub is going anywhere near my face! This has corn meal and cetyl alcohol which is not very good for skin either. Not to mention parabens up the ying yang. Abrasive scrubs are bad for the face because it cuts the surface of the skin and can cause infections. Instead it's recommended to opt for a scrub that has fine microbeads, which exfoliate the skin without cutting it.
I would definitely not recommend this scrub to anyone. The whole Dermalogica line is an epic fail, except for a few key products.

This is a pretty good scrub, as they go. I don't normally use scrubs since I prefer BHA/AHA products which I find more effective than abrasive scrubs. I received two samples of this so I used it twice. If you like using scrubs, this is not a bad choice. It's creamy, massages on nicely and the particles are quite fine so it does not feel like you're scratching the skin. (Hello Korres, I'm talking to you.....!) It rinses off pretty easily. So: a good scrub. It smells bad, but I'd still consider buying this if I wanted a scrub. Dermalogica is expensive though.

This product is about the only so far that has worked for me. I have very sensitive skin and every exfliolent before this, even some moisterizers, made me either break out, irritate the skin, or sting like hell, or even all the above.

This product is supposed to promote the natural ingrediants that are cntained with no harmful chemical ingrediants, not for the smell of it. I don't really care for the smell, as long as it worked. I have almost used up my first tube, and will buy another soon.

I recommend that you only scrub every two-three times a week. Anymore than that then you will get a rash, or your skin might even get damaged. Your skin needs to take a break from the scrub, so if you use any kind of exflioliater everyday then try only a couple times a week and see how that goes.

After using this for about a month, I found that my skin has greatly improved. Its not as dull, my skin is super smooth, even on days when I don't use the scrub. But I must warn you, please do not buy this product and expect a miracle.

I used this product with philospy's clean cleanser, and then the scrub. Afterwards I put on philospy's hope in a jar for moisterizer. If you use this skin regime everyday, in account with only using the scrub every two-three times a week, then you should see a difference from before.

No products can do miracle's on their own. It must be accompanied by other products to actually get a satisfied result. I say this, because I think many people think that if they buy one product that promises an after glow, or brightening effect, they think that all they need is that one product.

Most of the time, to get a brightening effect, you must use other products to help promote that idea.

I tried this as an exfoliator for my combo acne skin. The grains are fine, not too harsh, but something in this scrub made me break out within 3 days.

the best granular scrub i've ever used. I have been using this for years, it only requires a small amount and a gentle scrub, leaves my skin smooth and soft.
its definantly a scrub to be used 1 to 2 times per week, i'm a little surprised that it seems too harsh for other reviewers, its is a coarse granular scrub but it only need a small amount and light touch

This scrub has to be the worst product I have ever used. The small grains in this product actually teared my skin which allowed bacteria to form and create havoc on my skin. I started to get little bumps on my upper lip which resulted in my face getting all bumpy and red. I also got hives which I have never had in my life. My skin has never been allergic to anything nor is it sensitive.

I loved this scrub. It definitely does its job, but I like to gently exfoliate every day rather than intensely exfoliate every other day and this one I found to be a little intense simple because the grains are not as fine as I thought they'd be.

I would repurchase, although I have started using a Neutrogena cleanser that I love and is much more affordable and includes some active ingredients that the Derm scrub does not.

This scratches like no tomorrow however the particles are quite small. It took me many goes to figure out the fact that this should not be painful to use but its because the particles are not uniform and hence scratches rather than exfoliates. I really wanted to like this but this is just not doing the job, clinique exfoliating scrub is much better and far cheaper. This reminds me of Lush Ocean Salt, I just shudder looking at the jagged salt bits on my face, well this feels the same. I honestly would not recommend this to anyone. I am an exfoliator fiend and have tried about 50 or so exfoliators. If you need something more gentle try St Ives Daily microdermabraison, which is far more effective than this and costs $5.

i love this. dermalogica is the only brand my skin approves.
since my skin is sensitive ive only used daily microfoliant.
i was recomend using it everyday (and thats what you should) But even though its gentle, every day? is it gentle to exoliate every day? i think not. and how can acids me gentle?
I recieved a sample of Skin prep in a swap (which im really glad for). I tried it yesterday and im in love with it. my skin is so fresh today. I like the feeling of it, makes you feel it does something to your skin. And i dont get so red afterwards. It feels like this was really what my skin wanted and needed. My skin was babysoft, couldnt stop touching it, mom wondering what the heck i was doing :)

I am giving this product a 3 because it wasn't really suited to my skin although it is a very nice product. It was too harsh for me during the times that I had break-outs so do not use it on areas with acne. Although when my skin was clear it was lovely to use. Nice and moisturising too. I wouldn't recommend this for acne prone skin. The Gentle Exfoliating Cream is the best product to use for those of us with troubled skin.

BEST scrub out there! I've tried other pricey ones and some cheap ones and this one can't be beat. The granules are the perfect size so that they really feel like they're polishing your face and sloughing off dead skin cells, but they aren't scratching your face up or hurting your pores. The ingredients are good and I believe this has helped me manage my breakouts. A little goes a long way with this so the price is worth it. It doesn't even need to be used daily, but it is gentle enough that it can be. I highly recommend this for an exfoliant.

I first learned and started using dermalogica products in Esthetics school. Not only are their products amazing and really do what they should do- their company is amazing.
This is by far my favorite product.

I use this in conjunction with the Skin Renewal Booster. This combo is fantastic. I love it. This scrub does it job well, you only need a little bit each time as there's lots of grandules inside unlike some other cheaper products.

I copy/pasted most of this from my Ultra Calming Cleanser review because my Grandma bought that and this together for me and I loved them both.

Pros:
It's absolutely lovely
Cons:
Expensive
Bottom line:
My Grandma* swears by Dermalogica. Every single product in her routine is from Dermalogica. She has the softest skin ever and looks 5 years younger than she is. When I complained about my first pimple she got me this and the Ultra Calming Cleanser. They were both amazing. I have sensitive skin and this scrub was quite abrasive but surprisingly did not make it red. (And baking soda made my skin red even though it is finely ground) I would repurchase but it is too expensive.
Beauty secret: Listen to your Grandma's skin care advice. She has so much more experience.

This is my go-to exfoliator. I love that it is gentle on the skin but still delivers promised results. My Dermatologist recommended that this be used only once a fortnight as I am 23 and you shouldn't need to exfoliate more often than that unless you are over 30. Now I am not sure if this advice is true, but it works for me. I like to used this after the Special Clensing Gel and before the Skin Smoothing Cream before I go to bed at night.

This is a skin-polishing physical exfoliant that you used about 3-4 times a week. It has thick consistency and colour like Gentle Cream Exfoliant. It has finely-granulated Corn Cob Meal that gently removes outer layer of your skin. I preferred this than their Daily Microfoliant. I usually mixed this with Special Cleansing Gel. It gives your skin a healthy and more polished look.
